Forward and Up is, just as Marjorie says, a very simple thing to do, but it is very confusing to many people - probably because of a lot of "doing" or bad habits which get in the way of just letting the head go Forward and Up and letting the rest of the body follow. It really makes a big difference in how you walk (no more pounding on the ground with your feet) and with my singing (great breathing habits and support). Freedom from muscular tension is the big thing which I noticed.
This is MUST viewing for Alexander Technique teachers and students to help get away from the tendency to mindless repeat directions and remain pulled down, or perhaps stiffen themselves.
As Albert Einstein said: "Nothing happens until something moves." This could be a motto for the Alexander Technique community.
