  • Like so many Trini girls, you are too beautiful for words! Your voice is like a sweet, sweet lullaby. Please keep posting your fun vids. Greetings from back in New York!

  • when I went to trinidad the last carnival I felt very frustrated because I couldn't understand trini english, at the jouver party I met a british couple and I felt better because I could understand them, but I couldn't understand trini people, they could understand me but I couldn't understand them, that english is very different, I can speak with american and british but trini I can't understand

  • Hey. I'm Trinidadian-American (1st generation), but I still found this fun to watch. It's funny - I find it hard sometimes to carry on a conversation with a Trini accent (just for the heck of it) but when I'm frustrated somehow it comes out lol. When we were younger, my siblings and I used to "playfully" argue in a Trini accent, soo maybe that's were it comes from, lol. I love the accent anyway. Thanks for the video :o}

  • do u have a tutorial for this face? did u use eyeshadow?

  • Jamaican, St. Kitts, St. Vincent and Trinidad: Isn't it the same accent. I find it very interesting, cause whe n I was a little child we had nannies from St. Vincent. I know this may be a sensitive subject for youy, but I just want to say that they spoke just like you. Let's zxay that they wanted you to pick up ypour shoes from da floor they would just say: "Pick up your shoe" and I would, as the naughty boy I was, just pick up one of dem

    Cheers Nik

  • So whatr I'm trying to say is that you sound like a Jamaican

  • @MsTommyknocker nah...she definately doesnt sound jamaican. trini accents are more "sing-songy" than jamaican accents. people from english speaking islands in the west indies all speak an english creole and share mostly the same words but the accents are totally different. my EX was from the virgin islands and he sounded nothing like her or a jamaican. just like someone from georgia isnt gonna sound like someone from new jersey...both are american accents but totally different region accents.

  • And call the video shioma wine

  • @mamalisadotcom we normally greet by saying "aye!"=hey or "whappnin?" = what's up?, or "how you going?" = how are you?

You can ask a Trini to sound out this other one "ay, ay! Thas you gyul/boy?"

  • u too lucky u in triidad now or else i would luv yuh forever...yuh toooo cute dalin...

  • i love ur accent and im a trini lol my accent don't sound like yours..you have the true sing-song accent that they say most trinis have. also, i love the video btw

  • trini accents are my favorite!!

  • umm....u pronounced 'ramen' wrong.......its ra (as in ram) and men as in men.... and i really didnt know u say we going and route........

  • Eh eh! yuh jus meggie all ah we, explainin wha happen to you. lol

  • @angelface1016 u are correct!

  • Man, i love this. I miss Trini so bad! And then you have this video. Making me want to go back! But yeah, if you talk to people with an American accent for long enough, your accent will change to modify theirs. I used to go to the American school in POS, and all the Trini's were sounding American. And then when I went to their houses it was a whole other accent. I honestly prefer the Trini one though. But nice video. Love the makeup!

    xx

  • :)

    this video is informative.

  • your fine as hell

  • Gyul How Yu Sweeeeeet So?

  • aye gyurl, yuh real sweet!!! which part ah trini yuh from?

  • @BiopticSniper I'm a southie!! :) and thanks

  • But a next thing I find interesting about Trinidadian and Barbadian English in particular it is strongly metathesis. Meaning words may be altered to sound more 'natural'. So for instant ASK in Trinidadian and Bajan gets changed around to be "Axe"... Like Lemme "axe" yuh something....Metathesis has long-- left much of American English. Some little kids still do it with words like Ambulance or Spaghetti, though or when singing the alphabet near "M-N-O-P"... It lives on in Caribbean though.

  • Both Trini-bagonians + Barbadians sing when they talk.

  • so do the non-latin islands (jam, trini, etc.) all have disintguishin accents. I know jamaicans sound alittle diferent cuz they tallk faster. but is there really away to tell the accents apart?

  • She got some sexy Nubian lips

  • i lovee dhee waii jhuu did jhurr makee upp! ndd i likk jhurr trini acentt!

  • we were never ruled by the french honey....they came to help with the crpos....but they have influenced your speech....nice video though :D

  • I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the Trinidad accent its like speaking french sound like you are singing.the sound.aaaaaaaaaaaa.cute

  • We we never under French rule the Spanish ruled us but couldn't harvest the land so the Spanish had the French come with their slaves and work the land. And from Spanish rule went to British rule never French

  • fete is french to, eh?

  • @waytooschoolforcool it is :)

  • OMG U ARE HAAAWWWT AH LUV YA LMAO LOL

  • I know a Russian girl who is so FASCINATED with my accent, especially when i get upset lmao

  • Big up!!!! I's a trini too and you did well...and we goin an route tonight...so true...but I don't think we were ever French ruled....but we do say oui and common words like "an" instead of "and" and "dat" instead of "that" should be noted aswell :)

  • I just luv how you luk ! sigh

  • similar to jamaicans :P

  • @anna91192 No it isn't. Its a lot lighter sounding and more melodious.

  • @narrea1995 oh lol i meant some of the words they say not accent wise just some words they say, we say it as well

  • @narrea1995 like for example Jamaicans well most say "tree" instead of three as well as "bun" for burn.. "dung" for down... but not every body just most

  • @anna91192 I see what you are saying.

  • No dalin i sorry eh yu on point wit plenty ah tings but trinidad was under spanish and english rulein lover but nice video i still like it...i was also born in ny but raised down south trinidad

  • @daddie85 jus like me! thanks hun! actually you're right. It was Tobago that was under French rule, initially in 1678 against the Netherlands, then again in 1781 after fighting with the British. Although Trinidad was heavily influenced by the French and the French revolution we were never really under their power :)

  • @Jaleesie haha ya i like de video doh

  • @daddie85 ..ohgosh chill na..yuh go bite she...d wey u gettin on i swear dis vid wz bout who rule trini bac den...not noin it wz jus a 2 second ting she say ...hahaha...but doe get off on dis either eh i jus sayin cuz dis is d 1st comment i saw on d page.....i read it b4 i even watch d vid.....hmph
