My original ps2 is still going strong today, the dvd side of things might not work as well as i'd like, but it still goes to show you what sturdy machines they are. None of that ring of death bollocks here, just a good solid, no-nonsense gaming machine.

@BlackbloodABC lol. yh my ps2 i got at the end of 2001 (nearly 10 years) and today, it still works fine, it does not play cds (some ps2 games were on cds) and it takes a while for the ps2 to recognize the games (on dvd) when you instert the disc. other than that, it works fine. the ps3 imo is not as popular as the ps2 at about the same time after each console was released, i believe this is because of the high price of the ps3 and recent economic climate.

@bahamutzero00 among the first ps2 games was this game, gta 3 a spec, formula 1 2001 and something else, i forgot. how time has flown by! they seriously need to downsize the ps3 console so its nice and cute like the slimline ps2. im fed up of huge bulky equipment!

@kix2P 2003, got my unexperienced ass kicked over and over agsinst my cousin who bought it over. 4 years later (2007) we decided to play again to bring back memories and abscence really does make the heart grow fonder - such a nostalgic rush! It became an annual thing ever autumn, winter and tips of spring but 2010, January 3rd I think, it just stopped working - I gotta get me a new copy!
