i'm black but i sitll understand what ur saying. it has nothing to do with being black. it has everything to do with idiots from the hood still thinking they can act like they did back in the ghetto when they're in manhatten
big deal he shot himself cause he was a retard, he didn't rob any1 he got a gun to protect himself and obviously didn't know how to use a gun. he should a gotten a bodyguard but to throw da book at him is pointless.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! I have had it with these mother fucking athletes and their mother fucking disrepect for the law. Mike Vick was suppose to be the example but obviously they didnt make that great of a statment. Lock his ass up 3 years no deals!
He was up to no good because he didnt have the SAFETY on. Never mind that he had a gun or they let him in the club with it, but he had the safety off meant he was going to use for something, you buy a gun then train yourself with the gun so shit like that wont happen, unless he's a dumbass and thought just flashing a gun will scare people off, you still have to put the safety on...I'm not hating on Plaxico, I'm just mad because he had it made with the Giants and now he screwed it up!!!!!
I don't even know why I'm bothering to reply, but the firearm he was carrying was a Glock. Glocks don't have a selectable safe switch. If there's a round chambered, and you pull the trigger, the gun will fire. There was no saftey for him to switch "off" even if he had wanted to.
if you break the law, you go to jail. keep it simple.
that's why i fill out all the paperwork for my weapons and i'm a concealed carry permit holder who obeys the rules regarding concealed carry(not on school grounds, medical facilities, places with signs forbidding concealed weapons, etc).
the fact that it was an unregistered weapon is pretty bad....that just screams 'throw away piece' to me and makes me wonder about his intentions when packing in a night club.
Thing of the kids for God's sake. Don't forget this is a game for kids to watch, not adults who like to pretend their kids. so we have gun totin' players who hand out in clubs and get into all kindes of mischief, even kill people or get killed. But let them play...right? You guys have lost your way. The Steeler organization knew how Plex was and what he might be capable of. A good as he was they let him go.
I think the NFL has a concurrent policy. That is to say, that any time he misses being on the inactive roster counts as time he would miss due to an NFL policy suspension. He's going to be suspended, likely for a significant amount of games, and he wouldn't be eligible for a post season run, so why not just take the time now, and recouperate for the 2010 season?
Someone is a Giants fan!! I am a Giants fan too, but that doesn't mean the NFL or NYG should let him play football now. What if he had been convicted of rape and was awaiting sentencing? Would it be okay to let him play until sentencing day?
The NFL handles things differently though. They're very careful to make sure their league doesn't get labeled negatively. While other leagues have received bad names, whether it be MLB with steroids, or the NBA with the Malice at the Palace, the NFL has managed to avoid that. In large part it's because of Goodell recently who doesn't play around. If you get in trouble, then he's coming down.
From Goodell's POV, he's about protecting the league first. It's a luxury to be in the NFL, not a right.
whether they like it or not, professional athletes are role models. Thats why you see kids buying $100 jerseys, $100 shoes with their names on them. I remember being a kid playing basketball pretending i was isiah thomas. These athletes want all the accolades and money that comes from their remarkable talents but bitch a fit when the media reports when they do stupid shit. You can't have it both ways. They are not above the law but in many ways they get away with alot shit the ave joe could not
how does a millionare have an unregistered gun?....i own guns and went through the proper procedures to obtain them....why cant someone who has a 34 million dollar contract do the same?
Plax was on the outs with the giants, that is why he is not playing. The mayor is useing the case to make an example out of Plax to help his career. The nyc gun law was made to stop viloent gun crimes. This is not what the law was made for so not a good case to use as example. This shows how unconstitutional laws can be used to destroy ppls lives. When laws keep good ppl from owning guns only outlaws will have guns! I hope my town never decides that the police can protect me. Law is stupid law!
law is the law. if this happened to a random person like me or 99% of us there would be no question...i may be on the news as a funny story and thats it.....off to jail.
Perhaps the only gun control laws we should have in this country, are laws that force you to control your gun. Education in use and safety, and proper application of the Constitution, would have not resulted in this event turning this idiot into a wounded criminal. People who are educated in proper handling of firearms rarely shoot themselves. Firearm safety and use should be mandatory education, and the only crime should be not knowing the basics.
J.R on like an episode b4 was saying the exact opposite, that sports is boring and wants off the field stories to listen to... And radio jockeys not wanting to talk about gossip? dont get that either...
As much as I don't like football, (I'm a soccer fan, also love track & field), But I thought that was a great segment. I wish Jayar and all the other guys on the show had more air time.
Come on guys ... the team has suspended him while he is physically unable to play.
His future with the law will be a regular (average) sentence, and his future with the team (or team he gets traded to) will be dependent on his ability and presumably adjusted attitude.
a team has every right to say someone doesn't reflect well on them as a team by his actions and set that person aside.
Now as a fan you may wish that person was playing but for that one guy to say he doesn't understand why a team would do that is kind of silly. Don't get upset at the team, get upset at the dumbass thug wannabe with his gun in a nightclub.
Lol... I really don't care about hockey at all. Just not something I'm interested. Neither in soccer, but you just can't ignore it, so I don't like it :P
The white guy is an idiot...The guy shot himself with his own gun, unliscensed guy at a fucking nightclub. How many violent situations that involved athletes started at a nightclub? You think the Giants should still let this guy play after this, on top of all the other trouble he's given this season? What an idiot.
lol I live in NYC and there are A LOT of unregistered guns I hear them go off every night (i live in a bad neighborhood) so idk what the fuck they are thinkin about with these 3 year sentences because it seems like they dont catch anyone with these guns. But they catch the idiot that shoots himself in the leg.
These mandatory sentences are so fucking stupid. 3 years?! Come on. I don't know how many other run ins he's had but this should probably be probation for 3 years. Amazing that the greedy white collar fucks at AIG can fuck the nation to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars and nothing happens. Some guy fucks up and shoots himself in the leg and gets 3 years.
fuck humans they act like soon as they got u in something that now they u throw u in the mud give u a punishment instead of just giving people a break stupid ahole
He can't play football because he shot himself in the fucking leg. there is no way that dude's going to be 100% as a football player anymore, and he's lucky that the team didn't just let him go completely
From Pittsburgh, know things not for public consumption, Plax had much covered and buried. He is a troubled young man, he needs to do major self examination. I hope he gets it back together before it's too late.

allegedly, he snuck an illegally obtained unregistered gun into a night club by illegally concealing it. In a fit of stupidity he discharge it in a crowded location. Happily, he only shot himself.
If convicted that would make him a criminal.
I wouldn't suspend him, the job doesn't require any sort of security/trust. However, the league can do whatever the hell they like, especially if his contract has a "Don't be a retard" clause.

TehNarrator 3 years ago
The difference in your analogy is between conviction and sentencing. He's yet to be convicted, so let him play.
quickdraw002 3 years ago
So you think that Plaxico is reasonably innocent at the time. How about if he were only indicted for rape and not convicted yet?
TehNarrator 3 years ago
Innocence is presumed until a conviction. If you remember Kobe Bryant continued to play throughout his rape trial.

I think that our punishments are way too harsh for this crime (along with many others), but... people can't be getting preferential treatment.
So I think he should be punished, not to the "full extent of the law," but like anyone else would be. Same went with the whole Michael Vick situation.
I don't buy the "setting an example" BS they give for why cimes are punished so harshly. The punishments should fit the crimes.

I disagree.
Here is WHY the NFL and the Giants SHOULD suspend him.
1. He was carrying a gun with no permit. It's not just about kids impressions... it says more about HIM as a citizen.
2. There are OTHER ways to protect yourself when you have THAT kind of money. Be smart.
3. He is LUCKY to be in the NFL... making the money he does and enjoying the stardom that it brings.
Plax needs to grow up and penalties ARE appropriate here.
However... 2 1/2 years is insane. 6 months in jail. Period.
