Nice work. But, I agree with those who prefer the Stravinsky setting. It seems to fit the music, and the legend, well. That is just a matter of taste. You have done a masterful job of scoring this. Congratulations.
If you think it is better you're wrong. And it also shows your miserable knowledge about music philosophy. For example - Disney cartoon was made for music, but here music was made for cartoon (just mixed). And many other aspects. So if you liked this, then you like "Tom and Jerry", "Bags Bunny" and other creatures killing each other without making any sense and where you don't have to ask yourself a question :" Why it is so?"
Liking this has nothing to do with liking those things you said (no, I don't like them). Miserable knowledge on music philosophy? I've been studying music for 11 years, and I know this animation was made FOR the Firebird Suite.
Maybe I'm just stupid because I can't find any logic to your comment.
I'm really sorry, I wanted to reply on comment. So it is why it does not make any sense. I forgot about option "reply" so it was posted like independent commentary.
What's about re-scoring. If I wouldn't know original I'd say that this is not bad. But here is situation, where is the original to compare. And copy have to be originally performed. But here is the old variant, where is taken something from one (cartoon) and something from other(music, songs) . Result - beautiful, but senseless.
I know what you mean. There is nothing in common between the different tracks I used - it would have been better if they were at least from the same soundtrack. So of course it doesn't work as the original score.
In fact, when I was making this video, I was just thinking about the timing (which I think it turned great at some parts, ex: 1:23 - 1:50) and on the emotions these music trasmited to me. And of course it was made for fun. Nothing serious.
A powerful and effective re-scoring. Well done. Disney did a fabulous job with the visuals. And James Horner ranks as one of the greatest film composers to date. I doubt that you could find a better score to set this to.
With that said, I still prefer the Stravinsky. The exposition of the final theme in this rendering loses the feeling of utter despair that the video is portraying. i.e. It's too driving too early, with no climax at the end.
People will hate, but Maestro Igor is still the man.
@wdmurrell I didn't pretend to it to be better than the original, I just fell in love with these three tracks and had to use them =D This video is very personal, I'd say. For me.
Thank you so much for the comment and for being honest :)
This always makes me cry. The first time that i watched it i couldnt believe that the music wasnt actually what was origionally put with it. Good job! :)
I have not seen that movie since I was 5 and now I am 13 and thanks to you I can watch it again and it is stil great!(Just think what a horrible place the world would be without music! This movie speaks to me an its like without music there would be no more life in peopl there would be no more joy in any thing any more!)I am just greatful we have music and the right t listen to what we want!

This is beautiful. The choise of music was amazing, especially the last part. I only think the second piece of music jumped into it a little to rough. Well, I can't really explain that, but even so, I loved the complete thing.
Wow. All of it fits the scenarios perfectly. The music is so powerful. The song near the end is 503, isn't it? That's one of my absolute favorite orchastral composals ever.
The last song is called "Chevaliers de Sangreal", but yes, it's the same theme as "503", Hans Zimmer composed both of them, the first for The Da Vinci Code and the second for Angels & Demons.

Actually, I must confess that I didn't know what "solid" actually meant, but I thought that it was something positive xD (English isn't my native language). And yes, the first music is more soft but the second and first are more... solid? powerful?
Anyway, I used Sony Vegas 8 and thank you for the comment! ^^

I didnt like it. In the beginning it basically says that snow is bad. But without snow where would all the polar bears be? The middle was bad because its suggesting that volcanoes are bad when in actuality volcanoes bring tons of rich nutrients back into the soil. It also made me think that moose aren't susceptible to lava, on account of the fact the moose was still alive. And at the end (7:09 to about 7:20) she looked like a tsunami, those have no value to the earth. Musics solid though!
That may be so, but I think you missed the symbolism of the piece. She is mother nature; goddess, or whatever, of creation. Volcanoes and snow can be destructive, and they do kill off life- even if it is part of a cycle. Naturally, she would be sad. And in the end, once it was all over, she brought life back- stronger than before.
And I think that the beginning doesn't mean that the snow is bad. I think that the thing is that the snow represents the winter, and the only thing she did was to pass from the winter to the spring.

I mean, I didn't work very hard for making this video, music did it all by itself.
