He needs to have a firmer bow and practice with a metronome before vibrato crosses his mind. Have things solid before you progress. Ya, he plays a lot of things, but I know a 9th grader who plays all string (orchestra) instruments and so guys it isn't that amazing.

Don't be so critical people, the guy plays like 4+ different instruments ,sings, and produces music via computer software as well. Herb is the man!

4+ instruments? Big deal. Sings? I hope he can hit notes with his voice better than with his violin. Produces music via software? That's trivial to do, all it takes is time (and the money to buy good software).

I'll be as critical as I want to be of intonation that literally had me clawing my own chest in agony when my wife put it on.
