@barttie217 : All the capacitors have 10M disharge resistors across them. I also have a grounded "wand" with a 10M resistor that I use on the primary after a run.

@teslaozone not always remember that part of the tesla coil is to create resonance with the ground and top load too much top load and less resonance too few top load and the same problem occurs
I just bought a second 30 ma NST, my caps arent in yet, stupid china... anyway, my question is how long are the arcs coming off it?mine are about 30 inches, with the 30 ma, im just wondering what will happen!
Keep checking ebay - they come up all the time, often very cheap, I picked up 20 of various sizes for £100 including delivery ! (over 300KG) and only one was knackered !
Contact me on teslamad.com I have several sitting around that are in in good condition that I will sell you for a lot cheaper than Alan does. Hes a good guy but a bit pricey.
I also have a 12kV/60mA coil but until now I tested it with a passive sparkgap. It did crate sparks of ca 50cm, but they are not as bright as yours. What kind of sparkgap are you using?
Very nice performance gents, well done. I presume you're using some kind of static gap, which looks like it's quenching well. I wouldn't worry about the bang from the terry filter, they do sound MUCH louder than the main gap.
Check out my coils and join 'telsapigeon's' channel if you fancy it....
Great output for 12kv 60ma NST coil setup... Very nicely done! I've been thinking of swapping out the 9kv 30ma NST in my coil for 12kv 60ma NST. Just finished my new portable setup. Check it out in my videos if you want.
what if it hit you? lol.. i can see someone makeing this and standing like 4 feet away..

Little question: how do you discharge your capacitor?

@shobley
well, the problem is that we made a plate cap by ourselves, but we don't know how to safely discharge it yet. it's 10kV, about 1nF... got any advice?

PLAZMA ARCS!!!!! this is what happens when you remove the glass off one of those weird "crystal ball" things.

@funventer very true. i only watched the first bit when there were more, smaller sparks, but then i saw they got bigger. my bad :)

I Love The Performance! Wonderful, Wonderful Job. I'm Just A Beginner At Tesla Coils, But I Pretty Much Understand It.
