  • Lui y connais ça !!

  • Lui I connais SA

  • this was the time when they weren't allowed to advertise beer in Quebec. The most they were allowed was to show the label, and it had to be flat, not curved as if attached to a bottle. As for telling you it was good beer, or showing you a bottle...

  • Are you serious? OMG I don't remember such a thing. I'll have to start taking stuff for my memory. But one thing I still remember is this guy saying Lui, y connait ça!!!

  • I was indeed serious. That's why they had to invent all these ways to get their name on TV without mentioning the product. Much later on, they were allowed to actually pour the beer out a bottle, so for about a year we had lots of ads with the cap being removed from the bottle and the beer being poured. I have a feeling they still weren't able to say it was good beer though.

  • That I remember.... I guess not beeing such a beer drinker maybe I didn't notice such things. Or was I too young? I'm 48 now, so this must have been in the 70's.

Thanks for giving me this info Pierre, Louisa.

PS Are you living in the UK? I'm in Italy now. Bye

  • @pierreinuk There was in English Canada a very popular TV show called 'The Pig & Whistle.' It took place in a pub (a fake one) and it featured British singers (real ones) singing music-hall songs. They were told by the Canadian director that they could hold the beer mug, swing it... but DON'T DRINK THE BEER! The actors were astounded! They were fresh from the UK where beer TV ads and drinking beer on TV were seen as normal.

    GO FIGURE!

  • Oui, c'est l'unique Olivier Guimond.

  • " Lui y connaît ça !!!! :P

  • tou dou dou tchi... ouais maintenant on parle juste tout croche...

  • Whoa. This was before my time. I'm pretty sure this is Olivier Guimond. Fin des années 50, début des années 60. Cool.

  • Yep, et c'était bien avant que les francophones soient colonisés au point de parler anglais sur le net comme toi... ;)

  • Et paf! Bravo
