Definatly. I've got a 16kg and love it. Have a 24kg one on the way! Such a versatile piece of workout equipment. I have a lot of people ask why I don't just get dumbells, but there are a lot things you can do with a KB that don't work well with a dumbell!
Great video i enjoyed it It was fun. At the end i think the guy cheated a bit he walked with kettlebells but other guy dragged his feet so ... i guess he wanted to be 1st no matter what.
That was awesome! Kball workouts kick some serious ass, but that dude jumping on and off the table from a one legged squat as incredible!! Loved the vid except for the Mother Russia music- Devotchka would have been better hahaha
Hammer and sickle? What is the issue? That is a symbol of the working class. If it was not for the Communist League of America in the early 1900's there would be no stable work unions or safe and fair labor laws.
That guy with the hammer and sickle needs to wake up to what Putin and his KGB actions are up to in Russia and beyond -- it's nothing to be proud of to say the very least. Read the article on Putin in the latest Esquire.
I just started to train with kettlebells and it is absolutely awesome. I have been weight training for awhile and wanted to try something new. The fucking dude jumping up and down the table on one leg is my motivator. Great video.
The human dynamics dude was insane, pistols from bottom position at the floor to a table!?! Some awesome physiques in this video aswell. Makes me want a few kettlebells myself, have never tried them but they aren't that expensive, was probably much cheaper back in the days thought ;D. I wonder what weight ranges would be nice to start with (I do regular weight lifting.)
Should I add that since I train with kettlebells I incread my muay thai roundhouse enough to cause about 6 inches of deflection on your chest?
You talk about weights and running, which is cool for exactly that : Bulking and running. Where is your anaerobic capacity, work capacity, strength endurance. Where is your knowledge about the fact that running is highly inferior to interval exercises in terms of VO2max development?
koen, saying "do what normal people do" is what makes people normal.
Big fan of intervals instead of the long steady run. But I think plyometrics stimulate explosive propreceptive response, and engage complex movement patterns in a way that Kbs touch on slightly.
Ya well said. I like the kettlebell for muscle endurence as well most of all. Ive met really big guys who can lift lots of weight but if we both bench 135 as many times I usually mop the floor with them because of the muscle endurence with kettle training. I am also a huge fan of isolating because you hit all the stablizers, and you need that for muscle endurence.
Some people don't want a bulky muscular build, they prefer muscle density instead.
Let's face it, resistance is resistance. If you work with progressive overload, you will get stronger, it doesn't matter what is providing the resistance (kettlebells, dumbells, sandbags, barbells, bodyweight, etc).
If you dismiss kettlebells because of the hype, without actually trying them, the only person missing out is you, because you've limited teh tools you can use to get fitter because you're prejudiced.
I guess my husband is a "monkey" too...180 lbs of solid muscle from using these kettlebells. He was certified and it was one of the most grueling tests he has ever taken. There were people who literally could not get out of bed in the morning to continue with test. Anyone who can complete the certification is a warrior in my book. And anyone who uses kettlebells will see a significant change in their body.
All I can say is "Chacun a son gout", to each their own.
Running for CV copnditioning and the gym for strength, right? Well, you can do both of those with kettlebells. Look beyond the, admittedly irritating, hype and you might just see a useful tool for improving your fitness.
It is noteworthy that it isn't the tool or the modality that is important, but the individual's dedication, effort, rest and recovery that dictates whether they improve or not.
You can increase your "toughness" (mental fortitude?) by pushing through your lactate threshold and continuing to push out reps when your body is screaming at you to stop. It doesn't matter what the exercise is.
I train with bodyweight exercise, kettlebells, sandbags, grip implements, running and chi kung. I don't limit myself to one training tool courtesy of a narrow-minded attitude.
I don't go down the gym and train with the bench press, squats, deadlift etc ... but I don't feel the need to attack people who do so based on a stereotypical perception.
I think the Kettlebell training craze is a little tough for veteran lifters to stomach because so many think it is revolutionary...doesn't help that 'the 300' got a ton of newbies thinking they are Spartan tough.
There are some really valable KB moves, but like Paul Check, Pollaquin and the damn swiss ball, will fade into having 'a place' behind traditional productive lifts and Plyos.
Well, you know, it always depends. What do you want to do? The problem about the kettlebell hype is that people look at it from a limited STRENGTH perspective instead of a work capacity perspective. These are not the things that are gonna make you the strongest man. There are the three powerlifts for that.
And the olympics lifts.
But in terms of motor rich strength endurance activity the kettlebell is king. It takes this place in strength endurance and anaerobic conditioning.
How good is course. I've booked a place on May 4th 2007. I'm trainig for it now. Completed the required snatches using a 24kg mother! Enjoy! Anybody else doing the course? paul UK

I didn't say I was tough, I was putting my comments into the context of my experience.
You're the one who's being dismissive of the efforts of others, so presumably you can do better.
Show us what you can do, rather than being a keyboard warrior and slagging off people who are trying to better themselves.
baconlt72 4 years ago 3
I'm sorry mate, but you're totally clueless.
Are you saying that running a marathon is tougher than training with kettlebells? Or that you can't gain muscles with kettlebells?
I've trained with kettlebells for 4 years, and have also run a marathon and I *know* you're talking rubbish.
Come out from behind your keyboard and show us what you can do.
