  • Thank you and there are more restored sirens being run on my page at full power.

  • That thing gives me chills thinking about how loud it would be to be standing next to the cameraman. Well done sir! Great restoration

  • that windup is fucking epic!

  • One of these is shown in the into video on Medal Of Honor (original, PSX)

  • This is the siren that the voluntary Fire Dept. of my town (Linares, Chile) uses every day for announce the 12:00pm and calls of duty

  • what is the Hp on the motor?

  • looks like a bench grinder. every time i use a bench grinder i think of these things...

  • @mr7confused If I am not mistaken, you can the a bench grinder motor, take off the wheels, and add the stator and rotor, and create a cheap air raid siren. You might need to overpower it though...

  • I dare you to stick your finger in it.

  • CARTER SIRENS ROCK!!!

  • right before it did the wind down it sounded like a thunderbolt with the hi sounding

  • Sounds like an under amped 2t22.

  • boy that little thing can pack one helluva punch doesn't it.

  • Congratulations!

    Sounds wonderful.

"Perfect" or "pure" minor third musical interval.

    10 and 12 port stators?

To more easily show rotation, I would paint one of the rotor fins black .

    RWG Denver, Colorado USA

  • sounds like a 3t22

  • Sounds great! Brings back many memories!! I responded to a siren like this for years at my local fire station.

  • Somebody with a sick sense of humor (like me) could have a crap load of fun with one of these things

  • Do your neighbors get mad at you?

  • That sounds like a thunderbolt 1000T or 1003

  • so these can be heard thru out the whole town

  • sure can

  • kewl i want one how much is it not restored just able to spin

  • Man I love that air carter siren it sounds so cool.AAAAAA++++++

  • thats a gents siren not a carter.they have different tones

  • Very well spotted but i just got sick of people calling it a carter so i went with the flow.

I even have the Gents hanbook for it.

  • such an epic sound

  • Do you think there's anywhere you could get a siren that make a similar noise? for a price of course

  • only the WW2 British sirens had this tone as they were tuned to musical notes that were

    heard easily from distance.

  • You need to find a better source of power bro,

I want to hear that thing at full blast!!!!

  • How much do they cost, can you buy them from shops?

  • These ones went out of the shops 70 years ago

just luck to find them now.

  • Why does it spin up so slowly?

  • Because it was started on 100 volts 30 amps

watch the others on higher voltage as they are a lot quicker.

  • sounds like a car engine

  • do you have to be part of a fire service to have one?

  • No Just mad

  • If I had this siren, I would use it on new years night.

  • Get on well with the neighbours then?

  • absolutely

  • On the subject of siren sounds,in 1940,at the age of 18,my dad was a GPO telephone man. Whilst doing a routine circuit test on the Sheffield air-raid siren system at Sheffield Police HQ, he forgot to disconnect the siren activation circuits before hitting the test button. For this lapse of attention, he had the doubtful responsibility for sending the entire city to the shelters - must have made a helluva racket! Not a mistake he repeated. Still, it was a story to tell the grandchildren...

  • My Mate was a milkman in 1980 and at 5 oclock one morning on his round he came across a pole mounted siren with the cabinet door wide open.

Of course what came next is now history as he trundled of at 5mph.( needless to say upton park got an early morning call)

  • hahahahahahahahaha

  • Those sound like boat motors lol. Tornado sirens are creepy as hell though. These are pretty cool though.

  • Who said it was a cosmetic restoration? Hah, plank! So, if Carters are that bad, why are they always heard of films? The sound of death in many people's views!

  • yeah your right danwsisbey85

just watch bbc 1984 movie threads or cold war movie and ur see carter siren whit.... other angle

gr8 clip even is sound of death

  • Hope cameraman is wearing earplugs because he can't hold ears closed while holding camera.

Is the "breath" from the siren blowing those door flaps behind it? Sounds great!

  • That build up of sound made make a hasty retreat and yes it did move the flaps.
