@Consteer I clip the wing of all my birds! It keeps them safer than if there wings aren't clipped... I don't have a dog or cat, so I keep their wings clipped. I don't want any of my birds ending up flying out an open door or window or fying full speed into a closed window and breaking their neck or back. And if they you hard enough it definately does NOT tickle lol
I don't know why people said the music messed up the video, I thought it was perfect. It made it seem like an old home video someone edited for memories......which is what it is LOL. But really, this is adorable :) I'm about to bring home a baby quaker within a few weeks once he's weaned. I can't wait!!
Wow, My almost 2 months and she's really sassy and bossy and hasn't bonded to me that much. Have any tips? I would love for mine to be playful and stuff. I raised from a baby and had to hand feed her (:
@FREAKALEAK1389 you have to show her whos boss and never jerk away when/if she lunges as you because then you are showing that you are affraid to get bit and in turn she will learn that she can control you by doing so. Just spend time with her, sit her on your shoulder while doing daily activities. When she does that kind of behaviour she is looking to be aknowlaged. Act like it didn't happen and she will see that she isn't getting anything for it.
@hotchicky8 I did this with a quaker that I rescued. I should put a video of my little stain to show everyone what happens when you take in a bird that made a complete turn around! I showed him who was boss and in turn he adores me for it.
@AppleWider Yea they can get pretty expensive. By parakeet I take it you mean budgie? If you don't have a lot of money I suggest a cockatiel rather than a budgie any day. they are cheap around $60 for a normal grey, they get more expensive when you get into the white faces and lutinos and such. they are wonderful birds, I actually have a tattoo of my first breeding pair or cockatiels. more personality than a budgie.
@AppleWider Quakers are so much better than parakeets. Smarter too. I got mine when I was living in Manitoba for about $400. For the amount of money you have to pay for one of these guys it is definately worth it!
Awesome little bird! We just rescued one that was abandoned by renters of a house. The landlord had no idea so they contacted us thru a friend. We have 2 conures and 2 Amazons and I never realized how fun and entertaining Quakers are! A lot like our conure but MUCH quieter. A bit like the personality of a Caique without the maintenance.
See my videos to see us playing with him and also how he lets me handle him after just a few hours at our house. Amazing, resilient little birds!
@MrDefq Actually, her point was it doesn't matter what 1 or 2 people think of the music, there's gonna be someone out there that likes it. She obviously likes it and wanted to share it, and I don't think the music ruined the video at all...
Besides, you are aware that there's a mute option, right? You don't have to listen to the music, genius.
The other option is: If you don't like it, don't watch it... <--- that's my favourite...
I suggest you keep your nasty comments to yourself ^.^
So what does that make you? I mean you can't even type "rofl"... Or is "Rolf" some kind of new insult that's popular in grade school these days?
Considering you sound like you're like a notch above brain dead, I'm a little confused as to why I'm the one being called a noob lol but alright, whatever makes you happy. Go chew the table cloth some more, or whatever it is you do to pass the time :p aside from making a fool of yourself on Youtube that is<3
@MrDefq lol I think your simple mind got a little side tracked, this video and my comment both have absolutely nothing to do with lawyers, or law firms. But it's ok, I know several people that are mentally challenged, so I've become accustomed to people like you :3 Don't try to concentrate on my comments too hard, you may hurt yourself
This video is too cute for words!! Cassie is a total lovebug!!! I love when I see people taking good care of their animal companions, no matter the species.
My little female cockatiel died three weeks ago. I miss her like crazy. Hopefully, I'll be getting a little quaker friend in January!!!!
My 'tiel is a sweety like this. Even though she still has a bit of a mean streak in her. She loves to cuddle and chit chat. :) We are working on her upside down trick right now. It's kind of strange because she only knows ''step up'' and to fly to me when I call her. Kind of advanced for a 3rd trick.
The filming is good. This video would have been entertaining, but my concentration on the action was distracted by the overpowering noise of the music. Best to remove the music track, or, at least, play it very softly in the background. A great pity, because i'd have liked to include it in the "best animal videos" collection at the animal-video . net web site.
I have 3 rescued Quakers,Quincy,Shasta...and the newest who had 4 previous homes.. Icky...she is vicious toward everyone except my crow and me. She came with the name Icky...and she is my Icky of Love. Quincey is bi-polar and it took me 2 years to win her trust. Shasta...was rescued from the same awful place that Quince was in. He is a sweetheart. Quincey is extra special-she and Shasta were terribly abused I give them all the love and kisses and hugs that you give your little one. Blessings.
I've rescued 7 Quakers from sad situations over the years and each one transformed into wonderful loving birds. The worst one I ever got in is one named Icky. Icky had 4 previous homes and the person who brought her to me, apologized profusely to leave anyone with such a psycho parrot. Icky is the dearest bird I have ever snuggled with. I currently have 150 rescued birds of one sort or another. But my bumper sticker says it all. "I prefer Quakers".
I love your vids, my blue quaker Zuzu is a silly ,funny, lovebug too. He is so much fun, I never knew how wonderful they were until I shared my life with one. He was handraised also, got him from a great breeder.
As long as you spend lots of time with them and give them lots of love and attention, let them be appart of everything that you do during the day (if you can), and get them to trust you... yes most quaker parrots are like that with their owners or "favorite person"
lol yea, quakers are just wonderful... I got her as a baby, so she's had lots of interacting and playing with me and other people. But quakers that aren't will often lash out at strangers coming near you or trying to touch you or the bird.
Its Amazing what you can do with that bird! im always afraid of Birds. the biting bit. but after seeing that makes me want to get a quaker! cute cute cute cute! LoL!
When you cut their feathers :'(
When they bite you, it tickles xD
