  • Lauer makes me puke. He is the same ahole that was grilling Bush for advanced interrogations & questioning our treatment of the Taliban. Hooyah Marcus, it must have taken much restraint not to jump out of that chair & backhand this bleeding heart & his likes that are the whole reason you have ROE's & limited to your actions while in a hostile environment. RIP for the lost SEALs

  • Lauer shits rainbows and squats when he pees.

  • Luttrel described the decision to release the goatherders as "liberal" and also the "spiritually correct", moral and legal thing to do. If anything this incident proofs that the US military will do everything possible to avoid killing innocent people, unlike Al Qaeda who prefer to kill innocent people,

  • Rocklee your a fucking idiot shut up. dont ever presume to tell me shit again ok civilian. Shut your fucking mouth.

  • Now if this was a Fleet of Marines or a QRF Ranger team. They would of welcomed the fight and let the hearders go only for the reason of getting into a gunfight. I don't know whos idea it is to send 4 Seals into the Shark Tank of Afghanistan(Hindu Kush) Mountains where Osama is likly hiding. One of the most well guarded and hardest pieces of land to secure. I tell yeah our military is a bunch of lions being led by lambs!

  • First of all there 4 close friends. Noone had to say a dam thing. They knew that would happen. However there morales got the better of them. They are very honorable however in order to overcome and win a war you have to become it. Meaning kill anyone you come across out there. These are navy seals not a fleet. They have the direct support of the four of them thats it. Anything else has to be called in obviously. So taking chances like this is out of the question.

  • @67DieHardPatriot454 They wanted to kill them, however, they had almost a hundred or so goats with them which would have drawn a lot of attention, they also had a young boy with them and they knew that they would be tracked down if they had not given up the herders. They then would have had to abort the mission and SEALs never want to abort the mission. They really did not have many choices considering back up was scarce. They really did need to take the chance in order to complete their mission

  • i read the book, they were all so brave it's amazing. hard to believe they could still fight so hard while wounded, but that is what SEALS do

  • read the book three times. everytime i cant seem to put it down. im training for SEALs. RIP SEAL Team 10

  • He is a great speaker, (Marcus Luttrell) I met him at the San Antonio Tea Party. Really moving

  • Just finished the book. It's a must read for any American patriot. They did the right thing by not committing murder. but some Questions remain. Why didn't they immediately abort the mission after being compromised? Why did they reconfigure into a position with no exit strategy. Why did the airforce bomb the Taliban positions but there was no followup ground assualt? So much tech, yet why is it that the radios are always a problem? Cell phone service in the Hindu-Kush, who knew! Thank you Marcus

  • Did the guy that interviewed Marcus even read any of the book besides the quote he was told to use? Thank you for protecting our freedom all who serve and who have served!!!

  • im goin' to pick this book up now.

  • what a douche bag interviewer. he is exactly what Marcus talks about in his book about "Liberal jackasses"

  • @SlowTypeS couldn't agree more. matt lauer's an ass... "and how would you respond to that" everything this reporter says is backhanded

  • ah come on, they can't ruin such a great book!!!!

  • and to think the guy that made superhero comedy "Hancock" Peter Berg is directing the movie version of the book! it baffles me!? this film needs to be a 3hr epic covering the whole struggle, an I bet instead we well get some 1hr 30min Rambo-esque bullshit!

  • so there's gonna be a movie on this book?? that would be awesome!!

  • yeah its currently in production, no cast or crew news as yet, but Peter Berg director of The Kingdom and Hancock.....should be shit then

  • eeeeaahhhhggg......that interviewer said alot of things that he didn't realize were in bad taste. You can see Marcus getting a little uncomfortable by some of it....

  • I just finished the book and these guys are all heroes. It is tragic that the others died, but I am so glad that Marcus survived to tell their amazing story. Marcus, thank you for your service. I'm sure you will make a wonderful, caring doctor.

  • My Son Inlaw is a Navy Seal with Seal Team 5. So, THANK YOU Marcus for your service and GOD BLESS YOU and the U.S. Military...

  • I just finished the book, and it was so good I read the entire thing in one sitting. Marcus Luttrell embodies the absolute best of the best - a red-blooded American warrior willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for love of country. Hooyah, Petty Officer Luttrell, and God bless.

  • I am reading the book at the moment. Truly an amazing story and it is great that these Seals are on our side!

  • A true warrior! Thank you for your service to our country. The best book I have ever read!

  • I hate you ttube half the videoes go out of sync

  • the book is amazing, all those Seals were heroes and yes, the Pashtuns did go above and beyond to keep Marcus alive

  • "All gave some, some gave all." - Arlington These are the people that make America happen, not those bureaucrats sitting safe in their offices smoking expensive cigars. No, politicians don't make America, Americans make America. Real, everyday people who at some points in life make decisions that save lives. Trial under fire is something that most politicians have never and will never encounter. Pray not for riches or fame, but pray for those people, the real Americans.

  • The ones who helped him were PASHTUNS,

i think we should thansk those guys also

  • Thank goodness there are people like Marcus out there who are willing to go out and do whatever it takes to defend the freedoms of this country. God bless all our servicemen and women.

  • I read his book and was truly inspired. I cant wait for the movie!

  • goes to show you what are press does do our soliders who only what to keep us safe, if they had shot those three gotherders maybe they would all still be alive and well, but becuz they were afraid of what our politicians and media would do to them they let them go

  • movie? get up on it

  • Tragic story, told by a true American Hero. For those who have never served in the armed forces, and for that fact even those that have served, this man embodies all the is right and true with our Armed Forces. I commend his bravery and dillegance. I am sorry for the losses sustauined by Seal Team 10 and it's supporting assets.

  • Great book, tragic story. My utmost respect and thanks to him and all in harms way. And I am so sorry for all those who have fallen.

  • everyone should read his book its amasing, he is a true warrior

  • This man is a true hero. I am in the process of reading his book and can not put it down. Every American should strive to be half as good as this man. He is a true hero, Someone I tremendously look up to.

  • I just finished reading this book this morning and it is awesome. If you think this country has lost its heart and soul, read this. These guys are true heroes and I will never forget their commitment and courage.

  • He did do the right thing politically by letting them go, but politics doesn't exist out in those mountains. I'm sure his teammates would forgive him and I hope he doesn't let this thing screw him up.

  • Damn, I feel so bad for that guy. You can hear him trying to rationalize by saying that even if we killed them, they would have known we were here. Those mountains are dangerous; the answer would be to strangle them and throw down the mountain... an accident. I can't even imagine what he goes through every day. ctd.....

  • THIS IS A MUST READ!!!

  • I read this book, thanks to men like these, we all live free daily. To go through this and live to tell the story is amazing. My hat is off to you Marcus, best of luck to you man.

    Phil. an old Army medic.

  • NYPDloser, shut your damn mouth. How dare you question any action taken by this team or any other. If it wasn't for REAL men like Luttrell, Murphy, Axelson, Dietz and others from Operation Redwing, you wouldn't have the freedom to post your filth. You should be praising the very people who protect the freedoms you flaunt. Jerk.

  • oh fuck you guys.

if you read his book you'll gain some insight as to why he believes those things.

he put so much on the line for his country and you're going to say that about him now?

men like him are why you sleep in a bed in the best country in the world.

  • the muslims also tried to kill him and killed his buddies

  • Amazing book.I read a lot of History books. This was one the best. Marcus does a great job of describibg the hell he went through. Amazing HEROES! All of them. Great political statement by Marcus on how to fight a war.

God bless Danny, Axe and Michael Murphy. They are looking down on us and most likely still doing heroic acts.

  • Well I just crawled out from under a rock it seems, because I learned about this for the first time today on the 700 Club of all things. Every emotion you can think of has swept over me since. I agree that every one of you is a Hero, I think that anyone who is willing to put their life on the line for others is a Hero. In my life I have known several, and a few of those have been Seals. God bless you all. You're very special people, and I salute you, and those like you.

  • That entire team was full of hero's.

  • What is a hero? A spoiled movie star? An overpaid jock? A corrupt politician?

    None of the above...

Michael P. Murphy is a hero.

  • this was an extremely good book

  • A great read and the true story of human spirit, courage, teamwork. I am humbled by this man and his team and have the uttmost compassion for them. I recommend reading his book. Honored to have him on my side. WOW!

  • Awesome book! It's definitely worth the read. God bless you, Marcus!

  • Navy Seals Honors and respect you guys come from all community Special Forces.

God Bless you and your teamates.

  • I met this guy last night at a book signing...it was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. God Bless

  • the book was amazing "Lone Survivor"

  • I just finished the book. These four guys are American Heros and Marcus is a great Texan. God bless them.

  • Marcus, God Bless you and your teamates. You guys are the finest and have my undying gratitude and respect. I'm so sorry for the loss of Lt Murphy, Danny Dietz and Matt Axelson, but in their loss, they demonstrated everything the SEALs live by. Live well in their honor Marcus, they would want you to.

  • I just finished reading the book and think it should be required reading for High Schools, and Liberals as to whats really going on in the G.W.O.T. All four should have received the Medal of Honor. It broke my heart to read what they went through together. I also don't see anything posted on this site dedicated solely to Mike Murphy. Too bad.

  • Soldiers shoot first ask questions later!

  • you must not have ever been in the military tough guy, those men are heroes, you're real brave second guessing these men. Why don't you quit playing 'soldier' on your pc, and grow a pair and find yourself in their shoes, then make your decisions.

  • I would go but I am 53 yrs old, I'm not a tough guy I am a mother of sons in the military and want to see them come home!and they won't let me join or I would , all I am saying is they are where they dunno who is friend or foe, war is war...They are Hero's each one of them!

  • true hero!!!!

  • I read and own the book he started in 226 but got hurt and rolled back to 228

  • Marcus knows more what he's doing that said interviewer.

  • He was in "The Warrior Elite" by Dick Couch which is about the training of Class 228. I read it about a year ago and recognized the name when I saw him on Glenn Beck.

  • tdolan121, Couch didn't use their real names, Marcus revealed that fact in his book.

  • Couch did use real names in "The Warrior Elite", he stopped using them in "The Finishing School" after the war began. Obviously, Luttrell was a graduating member of Seal Class 228 as set forth on the last page of the book.

  • Oops...you are correct.

  • Just ordered Marcus' book and can't wait to read it. Thank God we have guys like these protecting us.

  • maan i just seen this.its funny him and his brothers were friends of mine in school.good guys

  • This man is a hero, along with the men who died that day. I thank my lucky stars that there are people like him in this country who protect my family everyday.

  • yea he was in 228, theres a book about seal training and he was in the class that its about

  • I believe Luttrell was in BUD/S Class 228.

  • no 226 i read the book

  • He started with 226, but finished with 228. He was injured while with 226.
