  • "if we could gather all the electric eels around the world, we would be able to light up an unimahinably large christmas tree." sound science!

  • I thought electricity in water was bad lol

  • Free cellphone recharge!

  • wow that's one massive dildo at 1:11

  • @morondes Holy shit, you're right. You have a great eye for cock!

  • The 800watts seems to be a bit of an exaggeration. Besides they only seem to emit such powerful discharges when they're in life and death.

I mean don't get me wrong, it's a great video, and a great concept. Just a pity about the little bit of unnecessary exaggeration. :)

  • shouldn´t scientists be able to grow a lump of the energy-inducing flesh material inside that fish ?

  • @goku21youtub

Yeah they are according to Wiki. They're being studied extensively.

"Artificial versions of the eel's electricity generating cells could be developed as a power source for medical implants and other tiny devices."

  • japan so smart yet so simple but never known

  • why dont you power a vibrator with a small Eel inside it XD

  • @123chorry Watch the video again and pause at 1:11 ...

  • i love japan. greetings from canada

  • "If we gather all the electric eels from around the world"... "We would be able to light up a MASSIVE CHRISTMAS TREE"... lol

  • @TheBigDolphin1 How many eels would we need to power the sun?

  • Just so everyone is clear: One eel lights a Christmas tree, but more eels could light a bigger Christmas tree.

Really glad they included that interview.

  • @efrost91 How many eels would we need to power the sun?

  • @TheEnneagram Why would you use eels when you can use the power packed taste of sunny d?!!

  • eelectricity

  • I was hoping to see eels abused in comical fashion, this is boring

  • i know when power plant fukushima destroy this green house christmas three are wonderful natural colour blinking

  • Meanwhile in Kvatch...

  • Meanwhile in Otakuland...

  • everyone works during the holidays even the animal kingdom

  • Zac from Wild Kratts created this.

  • Can they power a hovercraft?

  • think about it! a car running on Eels swimming in the trunk.

  • @MrBjorr think about if they break out on you while you are driving XD

  • I love the fact that, despite the global problems regarding finite fuel reserves, his greatest ambition for all the world's eels is "an unimaginably large Christmas tree".

  • guess who's coming

    PETA

  • I guess in Japan, its starting to

    *cue glasses*

    Eel like christmas!

    YEEEAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

    *trollface

  • Cracked has nothing to do with the fact that I'm here. Ok, maybe it does.

  • i have a seriou interest in genetic manipulation, such as the fish in china and japan that glow from an added gene or the spidergoats that produce kevlar. i wonder can this genetic trait be introduced into another animal or human, allowing electrical abilities? anyone who has info of this, or other genetic manipulations plz share with me and thanks

  • @chacoal

First, I feel a pedantic urge to tell you that spider goats make silk, not kevlar.

In answer to you question, no, you can't give yourself super powers through genetic manipulation.

That is to say, you could potentially create a variation of humanity through genetic manipulation pre-birth, but you can't make changes to something that has already been born. *And*, research into genetically manipulating humans in this way is very illegal, as it is highly unethical.

  • What the fuck? Electric eels actually give out electricity? What is this shit, I thought was a joke people said. No this isn't ok, I feel retarded. I've been lied to all my life. No. Just no.

  • that is just animal plague

  • that is tjust animal plague

  • who eals had to go back and read the subtitles a second time cos of the sexy legs in the background?

  • على كذا اشوف لي واحد وارمية في الخزان بدل شركة الكهرباء

  • Meow Im an electric eel bchz

  • We Eels are such beasts :)

  • @thepettyeel bad news: electric "eels" are actually knifefish, not true eels. I'm sorry you had to find out this way.

  • @elSethro crap...

  • Screw using the eels to save energy we want a Hug Christmas tree!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Your car is solar powered you say? Hmm, interesting.

    Well, mine runs on eels."

  • Comment removed

  • Probably someone could invent a "meat battery" imitating with meat the cells of the Eel

  • omg tell hillbilly fishing on animal planet to cath this bitch XD

  • Okay, so they put something in a normal tank that can receive the electrical charge produced from the eel so they can light up a tree. Why the fuck do some people feel sorry from that!? It's like putting a poster in your room. WTF does it do?

  • I have an idea, we should put these eels into a bunch of tanks, and then in order to control them, we should put them in a virtual world. Be careful if anyone uses this idea, they're rebel eels who will take the"red pill" to wake up out of this virtual world to come try to kill us lol

  • @SprinkleOfMagic Okay, I'm not sure if you're trying to create some kind of joke, but it's not making any sense.

  • @devilonthebay Oh, it was just a reference to the movie The Matrix, and robots put humans into a bunch of tanks to produce electricity and trapped their minds in a virtual world to control them and some rebelled to want to stop the robots, and yeah that's it.

  • @SprinkleOfMagic Yeah, I know you were referring to matrix but that was just sooo random. It just doesn't seem that related with this tank in the eel. Maybe funny if you actually created that story into a movie but at the current point, eh.

  • this is really bad poor eel

  • can I put this in my electric Car? lol

  • im angry.

    ANGRY BIRDS

  • Forget all of those poor people who need electricity, lets make an unimaginably large christmas tree!

  • @andersonle09 i know right? selfish idiots

  • wait... that's a lot of energy waisted by the eel's body.... I wonder... it probably has to eat as much as mammals....anyone know about eel physiology?

  • I think that is cool but I feel bad for the eel...

  • That's good if power runs out and u will save money,....a lot of money

  • holy shit!

  • lol free power

  • That's so cruel!

  • @mmmbad How is this cruel?! They let the eel stay in open water, not attached to anything. What, do you think keeping fish in a fish tank in your home is cruel? It'd be cruel if they took it out of the tank and stuck electrodes into it and poured only enough water on it to keep it alive. You people are insane, I swear...

  • @OneSkiWonder On top of that it gets fed well without having to really go get it and it has the best quality water for it.

  • nice at the same time cruel

  • When i see the fish i must think about the matrix.

  • obviously it would be in Japan where people would force animals in a cage, leaving it there and no one would give a fuck

  • There's your clean engery you smelly hippies :P

  • Japan - "Anything is possible"

  • contrary to popular belief, electric eels aren't actually eels. They're a type of knife fish.

  • @Q5729 Of course they aren't eels.

  • @Q5729 lol- and that point makes what change? So a eel isnt a eel and a dog isnt a dog , rather a wolf?

  • Thats the answer for Renewable energy!

  • I like his ambition... If he could get all the electric eel in the world he would power an even BIGGER christmas tree :O

  • the nostrils look like beady eyes :D

  • If we can breed everything else to an absurd amount, what stops us breeding eels for mass use in power production lol? Hook their tanks up to laptop batteries that, once charged, could be released into the mains.

  • WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWNWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW thumbs up if you found the N

  • @utesplayer50 5 in at the middle- (thumbs up)

  • I wonder if PETA ever found out about this, haha!

  • Forget the horse power in cars, now we can have several electric eels powered in our cars XD

  • Even with subtitles I hade no idea what the fuck he was saying

  • that's the spirit of christmas.

  • we need to buy some electric eels fuck the power bill

  • eels will someday replace hamsters and the wheel.

  • im only disliiking this because that eel doesnt have a big enough tank. >.<

  • Talk about alternative energy sources.

  • they should give the eel more place to swim!

  • 0:35 Electrodes? Its going to blow up?!

  • Only the Japs...

  • I think that guy is crazy.. I would like to see the big light from the world... Hmmm? Maybe a bomb will do.. ??

  • IF I COULD OWN LET'S SAY A DOSEN OF THOSE EELS WOULD I BE ABLE TO HAVE AN INDEPENDENT SOURCE OF ENERGY JUST FOR MY HOUSE AND NOT HAVE TO PAY AGAIN THE SUPER HIGH TAXED ELECTRICITY BILLS OF THE GOVERNMENTS ELECTRIC COMPANY AND GLADLY TELL THEM TO FUCK OFF ????? WOULD THAT BE POSSIBLE ?????

  • Thats amazing!

  • soo japanese are christians now??

  • @smartzazi y is it that if you celebrate christmas you're a christian? racists much?

  • @MaiSuperAngel no but it's funny how they "follow" christians after they got bombed by them.. sometimes i dont blame n korea for freaking out after seeing their neighbors s korea and japan worship "the west" <3

  • @smartzazi

NO stupid. Christmas is not Christianity in their country its the time of Sharing/Giving/Love.

  • @MilkyStreets LOL! Christmas isn't Christianity in America either! It's just consumerism. :-P

  • @TheWingflyer

    yeah true

  • I'd give up using british gas company now that ive heard about the electric eel! I just need to make sure homer doesnt keep electricuting himself he's got all my eels. He wants them for breakfast we've ran out of toast again!!

  • This is how the Flinstones did it.

  • It's weird that the man says: "If we could gather all the electrical eel in the world. We could make a huge christmas tree!"

  • @ThisIsAtomic Yeah... he doesnt seem to care about the world's energy sources... lets mass produce this and power the world!

  • "an unimaginably large christmas tree"...?? haha this guy is a trip

  • poor animal used in the hands of mad japanese scientist

  • i had the same idea before!!!!

  • Wow! incredible

  • if we could gather all the electric eels from around the world...

  • XD, at 1:09, fucking thing looks like giant swimming D***.....

  • YES now I can charge my ipod

  • it was bound to happen in japan. because if that was in the US animal acctivists would be QQ'ing all over that guy

  • does it hurt or harm the fish in anyway?

  • Comment removed

  • @rockerkitty294 Nevermind, I thought they were grabbing it with something. So, no, it doesn't stress the eel.

  • what the fuck is this man talkin?? he probably sticked his head too often into the tank XD

  • @headshooter44 Yeah and he is definitely 10X smarter & more creative than a useless racist bum like yourself!!

  • @Cruxz what is your comment about?? why am i a racist bum? 1. i am half black so it would be difficult for me to be a racist and 2. i have a computer to write this comment so how could i be a bum?

next time spend your time usefull and stop releasing your stupid shit under a video you bitchassmotherfucker. your comment shows me that YOU are definitely 100X more stupid than the man in the video. this was onely a funny joke i made. i dont understand how you can think i am a racist because of that.

  • @headshooter44 Jesus power activated~!

  • Good Idea, but i dont know if his or her tank is big enough, but this is a problem that is corectable!!!

  • I think that tank can hold more than 200 liters, so it is the right size for an eel. They don't need a HUGE tank, as they don't move much. Eels just ambush any fish that is unlucky enough to pass through the holes they live, stun them and enjoy a feast.

Also, they spend most of their time inside a hole roughly the size of them. And it isn't forced by any way to produce electricity, it does it unconsciously.

Animal cruelty is dumping carbon ashes into the sea, that come from power plants.

  • this is cruel.

  • ill put that shit in a disco and fuking saved mad money lol

  • Very imaginitve : )

  • 43 people live in buildings where they can't have aquariums~!

  • only in japan

  • i love how he is having a great life being used as a little power plant and having a .little tank ........(not) damn japanesse

  • GIVE HIM A BIGGER TANK JAPANESE!!!!!!

  • @hugo9323 that tank is just the right size. any bigger the electricity will not reach the electrode u noob dumb ass. whats r u saying now? animal cruelty? buy the whole ocean if u can afford then. o0o

  • @domg247 well the tank is just not big enough for the eel to turn around u bastard. ur dick is just the right size for little girls, not big enough for women, understand?

  • @hugo9323 sponsor some money if u want a bigger tank. or aree u too poor? so stop bitching around wanting more when ur not rich. poor bastard. ur father mus be pathetic.

  • @hugo9323 we talking bout tak u talking bout dick now? u must be a no brainer. buy a bigger tank for the eel then. or are u just too poor? ur father must be pathetic. poor family. o0o

  • looks like im taking an electrical eel to school today

  • cheese on bread!

  • its not really an eel its a species of knife fish

  • eel use thunderbolt!

  • No more electric bills for mee babbyy!

  • Korg electribe ESX?

  • What he means is that it would be so much energy it would destroy us all.

  • I wonder how many i can feed to power my car and house. Nature FTW.

  • I could get a tank put it in my trunk with this eel in it and it can go ahead and power my subs :)

  • Well Fuck, imma buy a dozens of these eels make them power ma house so i don't have to pay electricity bills

  • I AM THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS!!!!!

    -Eel

  • the sea has come to claim it back.

  • Why dont we use eels instead of power plants if we really want to solve the energy crisis

  • @pureply101 Most of the people trying to fix the energy crisis believe this to be animal abuse. Plus you would need hundreds of eels just to power the average house.

  • Sue Nami freed this eel from that tank i'll betcha!

  • @gotmadskilz Close.... but no cigar *tsunami

  • GM is working on a electric car powered by eels...the main problem is that eels do not like to wear seat belts.

  • I think this thing has a really evil face. I adore it <3

  • lol wow 800 watts everytime it moves? so thats powering a clothers dryer every 2 times it moves

  • Read The Book "Das Electrophorus Experiment" Thomas Glantz in german.

It's a fantastic story obout the eletric power from this animal.

The stuggel with the monopol energie.

  • this is cool maybe its a new way of energy on the future of course without harming this animals :)

  • Poor eel, living his life in a way to small water tank with no con specifics. And those bastards Japanese are all like "ooh, little lights, my life is complete, fap fap fap"

  • The energy doesn't come free. u still have to feed the thing. and take care of it.

  • forget using eels to power towns, dude! lets make a big ass christmas tree that you could, like, see from space and shit!

  • I'm glad the eel can see the tree light up

  • thumbs up if @thedailyshow sent you here :)

  • i hope they are feeding it.

  • Now is this eel compatible with Mac OS X?

  • @LanceEbuen only with intel based machines, sorry for any inconvenience

  • I need 10 of these in my electric car...I'll feed it corn xD

  • anyone get the impression that the japanese are just waaaaaay smarter than us?

  • if i put ten eels in a car, how long can I drive ?

  • Comment removed

  • i wanna touch it :D

  • seriously, why would anyone give this a thumbs down?!

  • 40 people think that electric ells should be extinct

  • poor thing...that tank is so freaking small...let it go you freaks

  • @cocofuria other ppl have them in smaller tanks and just feed them and have them as decoration for their houses, at least in this case it saves the enviroment by a little bit

  • @MrDar3k How exactly is it saving the enviroment?

  • @Djb917 maybe because we are not using electricity ?

  • @MrDar3k Ah, your right, by taking an animal out of the wild and using it power decorations, it certainly is saving the enviroment.
