They've actually found the models after they've completed the game character designs. So, the props should go to the crew responsible for casting these beautiful models, and make them look exactly like their VG counterparts. This is like a MKT ad.

maybe the BG counterparts were BASED on the models. Not sure might be the other way around, but they're really similar. If it IS the other way around, then congrats to them on making it so good.
