  • Saw Chris at the Isle of Wight scotter rally (August 2011). Unbelievable talent. He blew the roof off the venue which was packed with 1500 people.

Keep on rockin Chris. We need more talent like this.

  • @bones411gmail Let me get this straight, you hate him because he looks in your opinion gay? And this bothers you so much you have to leave an angry comment? Have you tried going outside and having an ice cream, and just chilling out?

  • @DoctorKandosii i don't like such people like carlowe who takes great songs of great bands and sings them like shit

  • I was one off the lucky ones born at the right time to be a teenager when this classic was no.1

  • @jimshopp Me too! This track was like our Mods anthem! Great song, Chris was such a great singer.

  • @jimshopp yes we were so very lucky to be born at hat special time,he was so so underated,a magic voice and so powerful and soulfull, nice comment mate.

  • "You don't know what's going on, you've been away for far too long. You can't come back, you think you are still mine?"

  • Superb vocal performance by Mr Farlowe, without a shadow of a doubt.

I do not mean to appear churlish; however i do have one (very minor) criticism of his performance ...... he mispronounced the word 'obsolete'!! There is no such word as 'absolete', Chris.

Nevertheless, a fabulous performance. This superb single is rightly remembered as one of the classic singles of the 1960's. What is more, it evokes memories of England's glorious victory against West Germany in the 1966 World Cup final.

  • I feel that this was one of the best records of all time!

  • One of the great voices of the sixties!

  • However, one cannot help but notice that - in comparison to the [1966] footage of Chris Farlowe & The T-Birds performing their classic hit, "Out Of Time" - the episodes of 'TOTP' from the mid-1970's look pretty modern and up-to-date ! I guess that even a relatively short period of time - like 2 years - is a LONG time in the ever changing world of pop music and image. That being the case, 10 years - just one decade - is an inordinately long period, when viewed in this context.

  • What a difference a decade makes! I have been watching the weekly repeats of 'Top Of The Pops' (the BBC 1 TV music show) which were originally broadcast in the year 1976 - i.e. ten years after Chris Farlowe's "Out Of Time" topped the UK charts.

The archive footage from those 70's episodes of 'TOTP' does look a little bit dated now - hardly surprising, given that 35 years (more than one third of a century) have gone by since the footage was recorded.

  • When this fabulous track was at number one in the charts - in the July of 1966 - I was only 17 months old, or thereabouts; therefore, I cannot remember the time when it was a current chart hit.

While I was watching this archive footage from 45 summers ago, it occurred to me that it now looks very dated indeed; out of time, one might say (if you will excuse that somewhat corny 'play on words'.)

  • Unless I am very much mistaken, this classic track by Mr Christopher Farlowe & The Thunderbirds was @ number one in the UK charts on Saturday. 30th July, 1966 - the day that England won the World Cup.

I guess that this song will forever be associated with the summer of 'nineteen-clickety-click' ...... and with England's glorious triumph at Wembley Stadium over the Krauts (sorry; I mean West Germany).

  • 1966 WOW was it really so long ago,was one of my favorites of the time, thank you for posting, appreciated.

  • 30th July 1966. Chris Farlowe is Britains No 1.... England are the Worlds No 1 (England 4 - 2 West Germany after extra time). Lets do it again some time!!

  • Please activate the option for mobile phones, so that this great song is also viewable on android mobile phones and especially on android tablet PCs (Youtube: "My uploaded videos - Edit - Broadcasting and Sharing Options - Syndication – Yes, make this video available on mobile phones and TV … - Save Changes").

  • Great voice and what drummer (brilliant).

  • I believe that the sentiments of the lyrics refer to a 'certain' gender which has the same number of brain cells as their pussys have lips.

  • @eirbiz Blimey ...... you are never going to win any awards for Political Correctness, mate! I think i can say that with a fair degree of certainty. I am no great fan of Political Correctness myself, as it happens ...... but even I would think twice before making a comment as chauvinistic and derogatory to the female gender as that !!

Believe me, a lot of birds who read that comment will definately NOT see the funny side of it - in fact, they will be incandescent with rage !!!

  • 13 people got no soul....

  • Very underated singer,he was really good

  • The first version of this song I remember was the Garanimals project Allan Kline cobbled together with the backing tracks from this and Mick Jagger's vocals. It was in the opening scene from "Coming Home" and on the Metamophisis album, reaching #45 UK #81 on Billboard. Hard to make a bad version of a song like this!

  • @lrd9999 Uh, Metamorphosis. Learning to spell is a job for Sisyphus.

  • If this song went on forever I would listen to it as long I could.

  • He's doing a tour of village centres across the North of England. I know this because he's gonna mash up Farnsfield, Notts, my mum and dad live there.

  • One things for sure - he would never have made it with his looks!! superb vocals, reminds of Joe Cocker.

  • better version: Elektricni Orgazam -"Bejbe ti nisi tu "

  • la pista de la musica es igual a la de los stones???

  • @fuckingcondado En "Aftermath" y en "flowers" no es la misma, pero en "Metamorphosis" sí lo es.

  • @fuckingcondado no way José

  • Chris's lip-synching is very good actuallly. He's a great singer, one of the best. His performance on Collosseum live makes it one of the best live albums in rock historyEVER (that & 801 live , the Eno-Manzanera shtick)

  • Chris must have performed (lip-synced) this one on the same episode of "Beat Club" that The Monks appeared on doing "Complication" because I see the same people in the audience. Either that or it's spliced in. At first, I thought this version sucked but Chris gets it going towards the end.

  • love this song :) x

  • @38drofnats BRINGS BACK MEMORIES MATE LONG LIVE THE 60s AND THE WOLDS BEST BAND THE BEATLES

  • @TheBeatle61

Mate, as much as we all love the Beatles, I have to advise you that it was the Stones (Jagger/Richards) who wrote this one!

  • Saw Chris last night with the Norman Beaker band great show, good sense of humour, mainly a Blues set, few old classics and "All or nothing" dedicated to the great Steve Marriott.

    Well done Chris.

  • A rare example of a cover that's better than the original. No one can ever top Chris Farlowe's version of this Jagger-Richard song.
