  • I will always love you Boogie <3

  • This song makes me want to beat the shit out of my girlfriend

  • I'm almost 25 now and I still love all this album and I feel like crying sometimes... A lot of things changed I guess, but my feelings are the same, that when I was 15.

  • i used to think he said "can't stand anymore" in the chorus

  • sabato 15 ottobre

  • Me too, my dude. 22 and about to deploy to afghanistan. have always loved these guys. and you younger kids who think youre in a different generation are not. You wanna change your world, my dudes? Be as kind to every kid in your school as you would your best friend. That is how youll make the best memories. When you're the dude who is "popular" but still goes and is cool as shit with the nerds, geeks, ugly people, weirdos. let people know you love them. things dont often make sense, so help

  • @michaelj400 good luck in afghanistan bro

  • good old 90's EMO <3

  • Bands like the get up kids I grew up listening to, I will never forget. The Get up kids will always have a special place in my heart. From an old school Get up Kids fan. Now that's a really good band, in my opinion.

  • @PassTheFlask07 I just discovered this band last December when I was 17. I think something about the winter coming made me remember this band because it's when I first heard them, and even being my age and discovering them I feel the same way. This band will forever have a special place in my heart, one that I'll re-visist years from now even.

  • @PassTheFlask07

    HELL YEA!!!

  • I was a teen in the late 90's. Things weren't much better than now. It's not like you would hear this sorta music in the radio. Besides, it's not like you need to have grown up in the 60's to enjoy the Beatles. The music of the past is still here, and there's a lot of it worth enjoying.

  • WOW! Hell Yeah! Love The Get Up Kids! Listening to a lot of TGUK, Hey You!, The Offspring, Blondie, Green Day, Weezer and No Doubt...MORE PUNK IN 2011 !!!

Hey You! is still pretty new, but they're waaaay dope. Cool edge, and cute chick singer too :-) ...you should check em out

search "hey you band taking over"

  • Why do people say "I wish I grew up in the 90's"? All the means is you'd be 15 in the 90's, you'd still be around when todays "Crap" music happens, only 10 years older.

I wish I was born in the 1910's, that means when the 00's occur, I'd be around 80-90 and I'd die before Biber etc. Not to mention I could witness some historic things that only our grandparents seen. More logic.

  • i remember before this album came out no one thought it would even be as good as 4 minuete mile muchless as good as it is

  • best record. saw their first show in NYC back in like 1995 at brownie's.

  • Sunny Day Real Estate + Get Up Kids + Fugazi + Texas Is The Reason = FTW!!!

  • @AtarisGuy33 omg yes!! that is possible the best sentance ever in existence!

  • Thirteen people dislike this. Thirteen! Should be none

  • Man, memories of lost love. This song awakens so many visions of those times that weren't going perfectly during relationships....

  • @mechahalcon weird feeling isnt it..

  • I wish get up kids write new songs. Love this band!!

  • @TheDreadlockcamp They just released a new album a couple of months back, you know.

  • oh ok i get it

  • I remember this song back in high school...skateboarding while listening to good music....freakin good music!!! brings back memories

  • I love reading the comments on The Get Up Kids videos. Everyone commenting on here makes so much more sense than those commenting on most mainstream music. And this music makes so much more sense than most mainstream music either way.

  • I've drank an entire pint of Jack Daniels while listening to this song... wondering WTF went wrong... just like I listened to it 10 years ago, minus the Jack Daniels. LOL. Some things never change. I, along with many others, miss this band horribly.

  • The ULTIMATE break-up song.

  • Dang. I miss this band. I somehow forgot just how much I love them.

  • this song reminds me of my ex girlfriend, in high school struggling with grades. i also lost family members, they died around the time i was listening to this album on repeat. emo will never be the same. <3

  • "why does the 1996 generation have to be a generation of douche bags!?"?"

  • Mizzou55 as born then, got into real emo cause of my then 16, now 28 yr old daughter. Still good stuff just like Rubber Soul album, etc

  • HMPF a kid can dream cant she -_-

  • lol this is the first TGUK song i heard and it made me fall in love with the band

  • YAY...

  • dude i love the way this song sounds

  • Happy Valentines Day :)

  • Happy VD Get-Up fans

  • happy valentines day guys!

  • <3

  • to stephanie <3

  • will you be my valentine if i'm a world away?love this lyrics..

  • One of the happiest songs ever. Im gonna play this for my girlfriend on Valentines day. it'll be our song. Such a heartwarming song :D

  • they sound like a worse version of never shour never

  • @beautifulkaps you're just another stupid, ignorant person. no one made you listen to this song.

  • @beautifulkaps what is never shour never? and The Get Up Kids were probably making music before you were born. Go listen to Justin Bieber...poser.

  • I'm sorry I failed you Phylicia I will always love you ......

  • @0warrenwrestless0 lol same problem

  • Sad song. Good song though.

  • BLINK 182 (: jus saying (=

  • @8664DF they were around before blink was even thought of.

  • @joshuamott82 yea but their still good (= lol

  • fav band ever<3

  • Is this emo music?

  • @glosoly yes it is music! good call.

    genres blow dude.

  • the get up kids ladies end gents round of applause

  • emopunk

  • Growing up today there is so much shit music and i think i speak for eveyone that screamo is the worst, why write music if you cant understand what you are saying, i mean there are some up coming bands that are really good like the wonder years, i actually found this band by listening to their mix, but also i love ska and alternative but not like new alternative classic like these guys and home grown and allister they are amazing but the best band ever is Streetlight Manifesto (in my opinion)

  • this song reminds me of beating the shit out of my girlfriend

  • @rorywashere i laughed a lot more than i should have

  • im 16, i gotten into all this new school emo stuff, but honestly once you start listening to PROPER music, it actually makes you think, what happened to music, now its all just crap, this is the music that we should be listening to!

  • I miss being a teenager. I miss this band. I miss music like this. Also, 10 people need to get slapped in the testicles.

  • @ohsnapcojax they just came out with a new album - called There Are Rules...It is really good! Not as good as Something To Write Home About, but good! Check it out!

  • i'm 13 n sometimes i wish i was born in the 80's,, things seemed so much better back then, things have changed and i wish they hadnt :/

  • @8664DF I know what you mean bro, i feel the same way. i wish i was a teen growing up in the 90's, so id live in the days when most things made sense. and so i dont have to deal with the popular music with no meaning or feeling, and the people who listen to it.

  • @300MUSIC There was plenty of garbage in the 90s and 80s just like there are gems in the 2000s. Just turn off the radio and discover other ways of finding music

  • @thatnamehasbeentak3n That is true, but the garbage kinda got worse every decade. As for the radio, I don't turn it on much, I just carry a bunch of CDs full of good music in my car and listen to those :)

  • @300MUSIC nuh,the problem is is that the garbage today is the stuff that's popular.

  • Music isn't that bad these days. I'm sure you wouldn't now anything besides the stuff that plays on the radio because you never go to shows and support new bands.

  • @thatnamehasbeentak3n smartest thing I have heard in awhile, 80's was kick ass though

  • @300MUSIC i'm a girl btw lol 13 and a GIRL (:

  • @8664DF lol good for u ha 12 (boy)

  • @300MUSIC you must've never heard Smashmouth, Len, or the hundreds of other bands that made meaningless music in the 90s... Every generation has their good music and their bad music.

There's nothing new under the sun

  • @300MUSIC I did grow up in the 90's... I just wasn't in the years where I could enjoy it :(

  • @8664DF lol i fell the same but im 12 if only people didnt go for fake music and listen to real music

  • ok i need someone with good taste of music to tell me good bands to listen to that kind of fall along with the get up kids and that good stuff before 1998 becuase i want to listen to things more like it cuase honestly ive been getting to much into poo punk

  • @8664DF Yo, I am a product of the late 90s and Early 2000's.

Listen, this music was not popular by a long shot, you had to actively seek it out. That is what makes it great. Once you found it, you could not wait to tell your friends, your girl, anyone who would listen. Then it was up to them to carry on the word of mouth.

Man Get Up Kids are my jam.

Long live the youth, because its all down hill after that.

  • @qball8001 :D

  • @8664DF they weren't better then, they were just cheesier....

  • @8664DF the 80's are the reason the economy is in such bad shape, of course thing seemed better all anyone did was borrow and over spend

  • @8664DF Cute! I was born in the 80's and we said the same thing except it went... "I wish I was born in the 60's back when music was good...." But 300MUSIC said it best-- just turn off the radio and discover other ways of finding music. There will always be talent and creativity, its just not what the masses are buying.

  • @8664DF Things always seem so much easier in a different backdrop but honestly they really aren't.Things always seem easier in different settings.Honestly its just the same situation in a different setting.Basically life is the same as it was eons ago but with just more technology these days vs that of the past.People are still dealing with the same emotional distresses as before. Now people just seem to rely on medications to make it easier rather than other mediums of release.such as music.

  • @8664DF what does the get up kids have to do with living in the 80s? this definitely didnt come out in the 80s.. and the 80s were shit. and the 90s were shit. and if you lived in either of those 2 decades, you wouldnt have the internet. oh 1995, how i miss you. no internet, no computer, just going outside everyday and enjoying the sunshine.

  • @tinybabygirls That's why the 80's were so good... there was REAL aprecciation, and now. we're all just fucking addicts.

  • @8664DF I hear ya. I was born in 79, and cant believe how messed up things are now compared to then. Technology has really ruined us. Thats why when I record my music I still record on a 4-track tape deck. Its not tainted with technology. Simple and effective, it makes you appreciate music more. Everyone wants everything so fast these days, we all need to learn how to slow down and just listen to the music.

  • @8664DF okay first off... This album was released in September 1999. Why you are romanticizing the 80s or even 90s makes no sense in this context. Second, you're 13, your problems and world view today would be exactly the same 30 years ago minus cell phones and facebook. you'd still think your problems were insurmountable. You'd still wish for a better time. It's called being a teenager. Third, this is the Get Up Kids, not some revolutionary influential band. The are angst pop. just enjoy. damn

  • @Velourium shut up grumpy old man, let the kid dream

  • @krassy258 lol, touche.

  • @8664DF im 13 too and i feel the same thing dude :/

  • @TheOpensourceFTW ...me too but i like soul/pop too

  • @8664DF If we look to the past we see only good things 'cause we forget the bad ones. The 80s had a lot of heroin, was the top of consumerism... 80s wasn't so good, but they had good music indeed. Now we have to rise, you have to rise :)

    ps - now I'm 24

  • @8664DF

i was born in 1980, and i still couldnt agree with you more. i actually had the privelage of playing a couple shows with these guys back around 2001 when i played in a band called the berlin project. stay a kid as long as you can, life happens and before you know it, you feel old and are watching videos on youtube that remind you of the old days and how good they were.

  • @8664DF no cell phones, no internet, no laptops. we were free, you are right a lot has changed. we are all becoming slaves to technology.

  • @8664DF thats funyyy. my brother and others tell me about how bad the 80s were.... ps get up kids arnt an 80s band

  • @mlrdmn

tht's exactly why he said he wishes he was born in the 80's, so he can live as a teen in the 90's.

  • @8664DF Nah, you don't. Then you'd be old now! (The '90's were cool, though, I gotta admit.)

  • @8664DF HAVE faith in this generation of music. It will only get better and better because more and more people can make it. Eventually some great music will shift into the spheres of youtube and resonate at the tip of thy penal glands, as well as mine own.

  • @8664DF yes, i agree but the get up kids were not the 80's...

  • ke buena cancion!! =) i love it!!!

  • life goes too slow... hope it would be over...

  • japanese band rokujyouma POP like The Get Up Kids!

  • back when rock was proper rock and emo was actually good. used to sit in the car on the way to school listening to this. time flies.

  • I used to listen to this tape while i played spyro on the playstation...where does childhood go and why does it have to go so quickly??

  • @peanutboy2pro thats so true

  • @peanutboy2pro -i know dude, im 14 and life is already going by way to fast

  • LOOOVVEEE this song. Best song by them MY PERSONAL OPINION.!!! ( thts so no fuckheads are being like "no blah blah blah bitch bitch bitch"

  • their music makes me feel COOL.

  • @Geekkid20 too bad you arent... lol j/k you'r totally awesome

  • i love them =)

  • if you want to know more about emo read 'nothing feels good: punk rock, teenagers and emo' by Andy Greenwald

  • @thegrouch314 wat

  • : (

  • Who the hell disliked this song?! Crazy people.

  • The lyrics are so nice..

    Good memories...

  • i grew up with this band. :] and still loving it.

  • @Jaapaah_ escuta!

  • :'( it's so touching

  • Comment removed

  • @douliketacos241 to call yourself "emo" is to automatically excuse you from the stereotype.

  • such a great song ...

  • This is some good ol' emo here.

  • i hope somebody can help me.....

i bin watching for a song long time ago and the refrain startet with amrican highschool dreaming!!!

    maby someone remember the song

  • This is emo. The thing is emo is not an insult or a complement or a sad song. It's a GENRE. Emo is a genre from the 90's that sounded like toned down grunge like sunny day real estate, the get up kids, samiam. It's a genre so if your saying it's short for emotional so every song is emo cause its emotional o saying its not emo cause its not about sliting your writs your so freakin wrong...penis....

  • @TheFunkyVegetables OMG i remember Samiam. Mmmmm good times.

  • Un des groupes de ma jeunesse. Troublant !

  • I can never listen to this song without crying.

  • @SkylinexBleedsxRed so do i :(

  • It's not even emo really. But i agree with PunkNinja.

  • I have never heard of this band afore. But this is a really beautiful song. And I wouldn't call it emo in a "style" sense, but it is emotional :)

  • This music is emo, but not cut yourself-emo, is simply emocional, without being too comercial or too gay

  • @MrHunterfox Why are people so concerned with labeling music? No this is not emo, when this was around there was no such thing as emo. People just started calling it that like circa 2008 because they can't just say it's good music; it has to be labeled as something.

  • @grantboss Not meaning to bring up the past. But the "emo" thing started in the 80s, or so. The Cure was always labeled as "emo." I love the Cure though. And these guys as well. But you are right, labeling is pointless. I mean, if you like music, you like music.

  • @ShaenWilliam I thought The Cure were goth? Oh well.

  • @ShaenWilliam Don't mean to be rude, but you have no idea what you're talking about. The Cure has nothing to do with emo and was never labelled as such. Emo was short for emotional hardcore and was born out of the hardcore punk scene e.g. Rites of Spring. The Cure is a post-punk/alternative band and have been playing that since the time hardcore punk even came about.

  • Best break-up song ever...

  • Hey everyone, just did a "Holiday" drum cover, check it and let me know what you think, any other GUK's requests?

  • Hey everyone, just did a "Holiday" drum cover, check it and let me know what you think, any other GUK's requests?

  • I love all of the midwest emo bands, but i would in no way class myself as an emo. I just ove music that sounds great. And the Get up Kids have a way with being great!

  • I really like their songs

  • just to correct you it had nothing to do with goth. It is actually a sub-genre of punk believing that violence doesnt belong in music.

  • I can't make it through this song without my eyes getting watery.

  • I love this song :)

  • Just letting you retards know, this is emo music.

Emo alternative started out in the late 80s and early 90's after the Gothic Movement of the 80's witch kinda came from bands like The Cure.

It has nothing to do with cutting yourself or wearing make-up, it was a style but not like it is Today.

It was melodic and deep lyrics and a wide variety of heavy to soft guitar usually with a steady beat.

  • @rorywashere hahah, true dat

  • I <3 The Get Up Kids

  • You know a band is iconic when emo band cites that band in their lyrics.. i.e The Anniversary...

One of the most amazing mid west emo bands evvvvverr....

  • This song reminds me of beating her too

  • @rorywashere hahahahahahaha that awesome

  • LMFAO @ 'rorywasere'

  • @rorywashere

    wtf? O-O

i should report you or something

  • thats not even funny.

    true or not.

  • @MynameisSabrina your absolutely right there is nothin funny about domestic violence every day thousands of women are beat in our country. if you or anyone you know is a victim of domestic violence please call this toll free number now.

  • @rorywashere wow. -__-

  • @MynameisSabrina

    you're not funny -_-

    XD

  • @neglectednuclei shut up :)

  • Um wat is wrong with you?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!

  • I have this album on vinyl. it takes me back everytime. what an achievement in indie music.

  • luv it :')

  • @rorywashere

    LMFAO WOW!!!

  • this is a really good song.. i first heard it today on a cool valentine's video: mygirlhiro - "valentine"

  • @rorywashere what?!?!?!

  • Cute <3 :)

  • loveeeeeee <3

  • A lot of their songs were about long distance relationships (Valentine, Out of Reach, Central Standard Time) not sure why....probs cause they were always touring

  • I feel sadness and happiness at the same time when i'm listening to this song.

  • ah meus 14 anos...

  • Great song

  • this song reminds me of my best friend :/
