I used to tape this on a tape recorder. We didn't even have a video recorder back then. It's weird when you dredge up something so obscure from your childhood memories that you haven't thought of it in years...and then hear it is. Thanks for sticking this on youtube.

Thanks for uploading these Fat Tulip shows, I remember watching them as a kid in the late 80s, good to see them again :). I use to think narrator Tony Robinson was Fat Tulip lol. Anyways amazing to see a lot of this obscure 80s stuff I saw as a child pop up on YouTube.
My family loved this show but we remembered it as Fat Julip. No wonder we couldnt find it anywhere. We also loved Maid Marion. i have stuck with Tony Robinson over the years and have seen some wonderful docos he has made.
I love this so much! I was 4 when this was on TV, I missed an episode one week because my parents took me away on holiday and I cried! I used to love Maid Marian too, wish Tony Robinson would do more kids stuff.
Thank you so much for posting this up. It has been years since I have last seen this!!
I remember telling my my other siblings about this show when i was in an nostalgic mood and neither of them remember this show they all claimed that i was crazy, now finally i can prove my sanity!!
This show is fantastic! Does it for me! This is more like all the wonderful things that TV *could* be. Nowadays, it seems to lack creativity to a wide degree. And American TV in particular is so boring now with its "reality shows" (more like "reality-is-really-sad-ass shows"). But it's a passing phase (I say optimistically). I got a big kick out of the "salad cream" thing. We don't say that over here. Heeheee
This show I loved as a kid. My favorite one was the one where Fat Tulip got some socks from Thin Tim and Fat Tulip never washed them and always wore them. Thin Tim stole them in the night because he hated the smell of the socks and Fat Tulip found them buried in the garden. I also loved the one where the frogs tipped the tadpole in Fat Tulip,s drink! :D
I do have the episode with Fred the Bady. Unfortunately the transfer from the video was bad and the episode is messed up, I could try a tick it together and upload it.
Blimey. I remember watching this when I was young. I always enjoyed the ending but I could only remember three of the characters. Fat Tulip, Thin Tim and Lewis Collins the Tortoise. Hope I can find more somewhere.
this is better than jackanorey

Tony Robinson is awsome, as a kid i used to confuse him with Sylvester McCoy and in these clips he reminds me of him a lot

Every bit as great at presenting children's programmes as he is at presenting archaeological documentaries.
