I would like to try to be a singer too! Every since I was a little kid I have always wanted to be a singer! I never had voice lessons, but in the seventh grade i took choir. Now i am a freshman in Highschool and would like to sing more. I nervous to ask my parents to get me singing lessons, because I know I am a really bad singer, and I dont yell too much, so know my voice would need a lot of practice. I just want to be a good singer, and maybe start off simple like joining a church choir. tips?
Do you ever get musicians that play instruments (guitarists, pianists, etc) that want to learn to sing to enhance playing by ear skills? I ask this question because I have heard that learning to sing can help with playing an instrument and want to know if there is any truth to this. Thanks.
@BubbaJohnIsKing Yes I find this all the time. I also teach some of my students who are having trouble singing off key, to play their songs on the piano or the guitar. @TheDinseyChannelfan HI. I did go and wach your video. You have a pretty good sound to your voice. You are reaching almost all the notes. Some of the higher notes are going a little flat. This actually pretty common. It's just your singing muscles getting a tired. You need to reach a little more then you currently are, all the way to the note. Also, make sure you are practicing to a karaoke of the song. It will help you to hear where you are, reference to where the sing is.

Ask to sing at parties. Post videos, and have your friends and family members share it. Also make sure you are prepared to practice every day without fail. You have to love to perform more then anything. More then the desire to be famous, or anything else.
@Saralovesyou06797 Being able to completely control your chest voice, includes being able to smoothly go between singing with power, singing soft, and every note in between, with full control over every note. If you are having trouble doing this, it means that your singing muscle are strong enough to do their job properly. The right exercise will give you this control.
You throat is getting soar because the distance between the soft palette and the top of your tongue are too close together. It blocks the air that is your voice from flowing out. It backs up and that air being trapped is the strain you feel when you sing. We are trained since childhood to shut up and close our mouths. It's time for you to learn to open up and really let your sound out. The exercises I mention in this video will help you to do that.

@Jesusisamazing456 Hi Taylor. I understand what you are saying. Some woman have lower, more soulful voices then others. There is noting wrong with that. It's just a different sound.
The term high notes is a bit relative. A high note for one person is not necessarily high for another, however, one of the best ways to expand your range of note up is to simply try and sing them after you have done some basic exercises to warm up the muscles you use to control the air we call the voice.

@Torilovessinging2468 Hello. Of course I can help you. You can't control your singing voice because your singing muscles aren't strong enough to do what you are asking them them to do. It's kind of like if you were trying to lift 100 lbs with one arm. Your bicept would probably buckle underneath the weight and shake a lot. That's what is happening to your singing voice. You need to strengthen your singing muscles, so that yours singing voice is fully under your control.

@yaddayadda98yo This is all fine and dandy. But what happens when somebody asks you to sing for them on the spot? Or if you are doing a life performance? Usually over all I find feeling more confident about using your power and expanding your range will bring your songs a stronger emotional impact which will improve your delivery and performance of your songs.

@DancerxJ17 If it did not help you, it is because you did not do the exercises correctly. Or enough times. You should feel the muscles in your face feeling sore. I have been using this methode for 25 years, with thousands and thousands of students. And I have not one time found some it it did not work on. Only those who were not doing it properly.

So only get singing lessons, so YOU feel confident about your singing voice. Too many times singers feel less because of criticism that created no help and now only limits one potential.
@wdkbeatz1 One of the best exercises for singing is to sing a lot. No kidding, singing is a great exercises, but there is one trick, you have to try and sing things that are a bit difficult for you.
Too high, or a bit too low or songs that have note sequences that are a bit above your current skill. With practice you will find that the songs become easier and easier to sing and they will sound better too!

That's maybe because you have a hidden talent. Think it on the bright side, the way you explained it is pretty awesome if you ask me. You should take some lessons and see how it goes. I'm sure it will sound good in the end.
Hey Naomi I used to be able sing like Julie Andrews(weird for a boy to be able to do that). And since I went thru puberty I cant sing anymore as soon as I try to hit a high note, It sounds like a spoon in a garbage disposal. And when I sing low I sound like a frog. @FeVicLxYAsH You wouldn't know it. But this information is actually a very big key into learning how to sing. HOw do you learn to sing better, if you don't know you sing with signing muscles? Or even how you sing?
Also realize that the criticism that you have received on your voice in general, whether speaking or singing tends to make one hold back when singing. It also makes your singing muscles less strong and less likely to obey you quickly, and to move around the air that is your voice.

Usually over all I find feeling more confident about using your power and expanding your range will bring your songs a stronger emotional impact which will improve your delivery and performance of your songs.

It's funny to me how we so easily accept criticism and agree with it and then so easily push away praise. @DancerxJ17 If it did not help you, it is because you did not do the exercises correctly. Or enough times. You should feel the muscles in your face feeling sore. I have been using this methode for 25 years, with thousands and thousands of students. And I have not one time found some it it did not work on. Only those who were not doing it properly.

@wdkbeatz1 One of the best exercises for singing is to sing a lot. No kidding, singing is a great exercises, but there is one trick, you have to try and sing things that are a bit difficult for you.
Too high, or a bit too low or songs that have note sequences that are a bit above your current skill. With practice you will find that the songs become easier and easier to sing and they will sound better too!

@MrsHappyGoLucky216 One of the things you may not realize is that famous people care more about being good, then they do about being famous. They also practice way way way way wayy more then you think they do.
Where most wanna be singers fail, is that they care about the fame, more then they love performing. They are also not prepared to do the work it takes to be good enough make it.

I'm a 12 dude, and I want to learn to sing country music like Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, The Rascal Flatts, and artists like that. But I also want to learn how to sing new, good music like Bruno Mars, Akon, Jay Sean, and Kevin Rudolf. And finally, I want to learn how to sing like Nelly. I know he's a rapper, but he has some songs where he sings, like Over and Over, Just A Dream, sort of in Ride Wit Me, and My Place. i'm a 13 year old girl and i want to sing but i just cant. i hate my voice all in all and whenever i hear myself sing i just sound like an 8 or 9 year old kid who doesnt know what he is doing. yes, what "he" is doing. i am a girl but i sound like an 8 year old boy. i was born in the U.S but i am part asian and part french. is that why my voice is terriable? and all my other friends have a voice of a 13 ofr 14 year old girl. Hey Naomi I used to be able sing like Julie Andrews(weird for a boy to be able to do that). And since I went thru puberty I cant sing anymore as soon as I try to hit a high note, It sounds like a spoon in a garbage disposal. And when I sing low I sound like a frog. And I really love to sing but cant anymore due to puberty(I've been told so). And I'm only fifteen.

I'm claire and I have a super problem. My voice always sounds like I have a cold. It's low for a girl voice and I want to be a good singer. I don't want to be famous lol.... but i just want to be able to sing. If you have any suggestions that'd be great! :) (By the way i'm 12 years old).
PS. i already had my tonsils and adinoids removed... And that didn't change a thing.
