Like so many here, this video pleases me deep inside, as I am nostalgic for the NY t.v. of the seventies. This intro used to scare the wits out of me. It's so great to see it after all these years!
I also was scared by the movie "The Car": To the poster who mentioned it, I don't think that the car was at all a Rolls Royce, though. I think it was custom crafted for the movie.
man do i remember this. when i was a kid my dad would pick me and my brother up on friday nights and the first thing i would say is whats on booga booga tonight.(booga booga referred to chiller theatre)
"Chiller" UPDATE: BUMMER! Zacherley WON'T do a "Chiller" special this year after all. This was confirmed on his web page. But cw11 may move forward with one not on Halloween, but October 25th. Stay Tubed.
This scared the living crap out of me as a child. Who'd have known it would get me into stop motion animation. Why is it so hard to find a crystal clear copy with perfect audio? But thanks for posting!
Did anyone ever see "THE CAR? That Rolls Royce that was posessed and ran people over? It was the first "Christine" type movie. I remember the beginning how it ran those two bicyclists over on the bridge! SQUISH!!!! What a GREAT movie! How about, "Race with the Devil" Anyone see that one? Creepy cult people..... This is awesome. I feel like I am 11 again! When I used to say "Hold on Mom, just a minute" when I was deeply ingulfed with Monster Week after school.
As a child in the 70's, this commercial bumper terrified me beyond description. I'd run from the room, covering my ears every time. This terrified me far more than any horror movie that played on tv with it.
Got that right. CGI is the same as an obnoxious kid on the diving board screaming "mommy, watch me! daddy, watch me!!" If this were made today, they would be trying too hard to impress.
Back then, this was not made to impress you, but to scare you. And judging from other peoples' memories (and mine) it succeeded spectacularly.
I remember Chiller Theatre being on at 8:30 PM Saturday nights during the late 60's and early 70's. On another channel in that same time slot was "Creature Feature" which had the exact same format and the same "menu" of B-flicks.
I never though to search this on YOUTUBE and I was trying to explain this commerical to someone last year, about this 6 finger hand on CHILLER THEATRE and it was so damn creepy.....
Anyone remember the old classic B Rated "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things" with the college kids that went to an Island and dug up a grave. They kept "Orvil" in teh house and thought the spell from a book they casted for all dead things to come to life
I remember watching "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things" when I was around 11 years old. It scared the crap out of me then. I recently did a search for it on DVD but turned nothing up.
Hi, StannieDum: You could try either Best Buy or Columbia House Video club. Or try one of the horror websites, like Fangoria, they might have or know someone who might have the movie.
I remember seeing that movie, but on WOR instead on, I believe, a Saturday night.
That was very scary when I saw it as a kid sometime in the Seventies. That might be the first zombie/ghoul flick that I ever saw (I didn't see "Night of the Living Dead" until later on).
This and the Original Blob scared the hell out of me back then and even to this day still will not sit and watch the blob(cause its still gives me the Creeps)LOL.
While not nearly as scary as it was when I first saw it on WOR during the early Seventies (and later on WABC's "The 4:30 Movie"), it's still a good movie.
I remember "How to Make a Monster," the two "I Was a Teenage..." films, "Curse of the Werewolf, "The Crawling Eye," "Mothra," "Horrors of the Black Museum," "Gamera," "The Tingler," "Rodan," "Monster Zero," "Castle of the Living Dead," "Dr. Terror's House of Horrors," "X: The Man with X-Ray Eyes,"...countless others that either I can't remember the title or the movie itself.
Great movies to see when you're a kid (a handful of them are fine viewing even when you're an adult :-).

channel 11 stinks NOW; no horror movies, just usual syndicated, lousy, tv shows--like in some hick town.

Sounds good. Thanks. Is it entertaining or am I going to say "How the hell did this crap scare me?" or is it a "good" bad film?
