  • Miki Sugihara is adorable

  • I find the lady annoying.

  • he said 'kore wa - Kato-SAN no kamera desu - which u r not suppose to use after your own name!

  • @ikadir18 He was telling her it was his dad's camera, not his. His name is Kaiho, not Kato.

  • Yan-san should be summarily executed after all the chaos he unleashed at the airport! :D

  • i am yan is hilarious thanks for the vid

  • is it weird that i remember which is which out of kore and sore through an old mad tv skit? .___.;

  • The normal sentence structure is NOT 私は・・・です.

Seriously, anyone who's skilled in Japanese knows that only a verb is required in a complete sentence and that です is completely different from "to be" in all possible aspects.

Saying です after a sentence is primarily a sign of politeness, not the word for "to be".

For this the declarative だ is a much closer equivalent.

  • Yan is my hero.

  • Hehe...mine too.

    XD

  • I don't know why but I find this much more useful to learn Japanese with than classes.

  • Wow, I can't believe how complicated she makes these lessons. I know a great deal of Japanese, and she still confuses me. Why can't she just say, "Hai, means yes, Kore wa, means this, and Sora wa, means that."

With enough experience, a person would be able to figure out that words in Japanese don't alway translate into exact english.

  • Yes! Yan-san and his buddies are speaking really fast, and they "mumble" a bit. It's difficult to hear what they say.

  • I think everybody got that Hai means Yes, Kore means This and Sore means That. But she repeats that again and again on purpose. Otherwise, it'd be too easy and we'd forget it!

That problem is when you watch the buddies speaking normally and you have a reality shock! kkkk

  • hmm, good point, lol. I guess beginners need to have it ingrained more, then later on when they get used to it they can speak more skillfully.

    Don't mind me. XD

  • wow she has no clue in what she says

  • wow, it is much harder to hear the full conversation at real time speeds.

  • Look buddy....fucking STOP calling people outside of Japan frigging foreigners could you?? Thanks for the upload.

Man, this looks old. What's with the hairstyles?

  • It's from the 80's...

  • what does desu mean again? and is it at the end of every sentence?

  • desu= are/is/be. no it's not. be

  • Desu is used to denote a sentence as an explanation.

"Watashi wa Yan-san desu" is explaining "this is Yan."

  • "Watashi wa Yan-san desu." means I'm Yan. Not "This is Yan." Kore wa Yan-san desu." is "This is Yan."

  • Yeah, that's what I meant. My bad =P

    I forgot "Watashi" means "I"

  • You don't use kore/sore/are on people, only objects. You can say 'kono hitoha yan-san desu' to mean 'this person is yan'. In the video they're saying 'koreha yansanno desu', where 'no' is acting as a possessive of the implied baggage left out of the sentence. I spell 'wa' here as 'ha', since it's the correct form of the romaji, though the pronunciation is the same.

  • Its important to remember that "desu" is used in polite speech. In most casual settings you may never hear it used at all.

  • her english is so loooong lol

  • kore wa learning video desu. right? anyone know if i did that right?

  • kore wa video no learn desu

  • OMG, I got it all! THANKS FOR UPLOADING THIS!! Dômo Arigato!!

  • Desu is the verb form for 'to be'

    Watashi - I

    Anata - You

So and and so forth. Goodness, this vaguely reminds me of French.

  • this just got confusing as hell =\

  • can anyone tell me how "no" works and when to use it?.. and "ga" too... ^_^ thanks.. :D

  • i watch this like 6 times i understand alot of words that are used here, thx

  • so basically kore is like 'this is' and sore is like 'that is'

  • not quite kore and sore are this and that not this is and that is it would have to be kore wa ... desu for this ... is

  • Yeah same difference :P That's what I meant xD

  • Thank you so much
