  • looks easy to do if the other guy just falls asleep and doesnt move

try doing that on someone whos trying to get out of mount

  • @elliotb92 it takes some finesse for sure... this video was one of the earlier attempts but I use this frequently now and much more smoothly than what you see above... also I recently saw this successfully done to finish a UFC fight (UFC124 - Vocek vs Hazelett).

  • Literally my go to move from the mount. so simple to just pin someones arm to the matt and thread my lanky legg through the opening

  • so many haters

  • I pulled this off in a sparring session the other day highly recomend it for No-Gi For Gi there are a few others i would use for instance x- choke or ezekial choke.

  • @Neverstop954 Ezekial is easier to pull off with no gi,than Gi.

  • very untidy jiu jitsu it looked to me that neither had great technique in what they were trying to do and the guy looked to gave it to him... you have to be more clever about it... they looked liked white belts... no disrespect by the way, i love bjj and respect anyone that does it...

  • TarZan - I'm not sure I get your point... there were no claims that these guys were experts -- just students of bjj. Truth is that both were in the beginning stages of training when this video was made. It demonstrated a technique that was seemingly rarely used at the time - which was actually a few years before its actual posting.

  • probably just showing you, without too much rstraint, what a triangle from the mount looks like

  • why is everyone so fucking horny on street fighting? If u see a soccer player kick a ball, do u say "I dont think that will work in a street figh!" ffs guys, ITS A SPORT!

  • Ha! Well put BigSmurf!!

  • thanks jaeblu :P

  • ...maybe the fact that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was created specifically FOR the ability to street fight? Gracie created the UFC so there would be legit fight competitions that aren't point-based. BJJ was never intended just for sport, it was designed for superior self defense, UNLIKE soccer.

  • nice one indeed ;)

    what i would try:

I'd push him back with my hands, and grab his upper body with my feet, and push him far away, until he lets me go. Or i'd bridge, and counter from the top position - rise on my feet, sit down behind his ass, grapple and push him away with my feet.

(btw, it has been teached in my trainings, but i missed it -.-)

  • @Kuldk2pp19 dont you mean taught? teached is not a word :P

  • in the noble words of sensai john creese,"man can't walk he can't fight.man confronts you in the streets or the dojo,he is the enemy....and the enemy deserves ,..."no mercy"

  • hmmmm interesting

  • WOW this is cool ive never seen a move like this Thank YOU i'm subscribing

  • Thanks - In the search box above, if you type in "jaeblu triangle from mount" you will see me apply this in different matches. The one here was the first and I've been perfecting this over the past couple of years.

  • that efrain kid from the ultimate fighter pulled this off from the mount, was fairly impressive

  • No one will gouge your fucking eye,who does that shit?

  • if it will help me survive I will fucking gouge out your eye and bite off your nose

  • Anyone with any street fighting experence will gouge your eye mate, along with boot you in the nuts

  • Personally, I don't see this move as something I would ever use in a street fight; but it is a very effective move in a 'sport' submission fighting/grappling match. Since this first one that I applied, I've managed to begin to perfect this move and have used it regularly in matches.

  • i completly agree.

  • what's bad is i am not a good fighter but i actually beat someone with a traingle choke in a real fight, mind you i was getting pounded but i saw a opening tugged him down and i won, though i was called gay>.>

  • you seized an opportunity and did what you needed to do to win - good on ya!

  • i know wat u mean cuz i use bjj and use moves like the triangle, rear naked and the armbar alot and although they work good ppl call bull on it alot

  • what do you mean people call bull on it?

after they have passed out or break their arm they wake up and say bullshit i didn't pass out?

  • That guy that was tapped gassed. At the end of the video he wasn't controlling his opponents distance effectively. The hold was good so props on being able to finish a strictly grappling competition.

  • In a real fight.. this would suck to get stuck in.

  • wouldn't work well in a real fight.

  • Yes it would, its from mount. Anything is possible if you train hard enough to execute it.

  • true, if you're skilled and trained for many years. i mean, for the majority of BJJ / Judo guys, they would prob try this and get killed. best of luck

  • 90% of real fights end up on teh floor, if you are skilled in Jits then it will work better than any other fighting technique.

  • depends on the street you don't want to end up on the floor because 90% of the time friend has buddies to shitkick you

  • not true this and the gillotine and the armbar are some of the best moves in a real fight

  • they're standard submissions, others are really useful also if you're in BJJ

  • nice use of sankaku jime from the mount, sankaku waza and applying it effectively in different situations is probably the most important aspect of your ground game.

  • I have seen that done in UFC once. It was Hermes Franca v.s some dude.

  • that was pretty weak....that would not work in a real match when the opponent is not giving to you

  • That is so not true; if you practice this stuff and try enough, you'll figure it out. You can see other examples of this technique by using these keywords: triangle mount jaeblu

  • I'm a black belt under ceasar gracie and this is one of my favorite techniques.

  • In a real fight, I think it'd work fine after an eyegouge. O_x

  • Man, that was nice!

  • HAHAHAHA

it looks like they are sparring and then at the end the guy on the bottom isn't even resisting.

  • I guess it can appear that way but the match was much longer than shown and the guy on the bottom was a bit gassed and then choked out.

  • ed hermen did it in the ufc or got it done to him not sure but it's bin done

  • My fav BJJer Demian Maia raped Herman, that was a nasty stopage.

  • what the heck...first time i've seen this choke pulled off on top...shoot, i'd probably break my own leg tryin it, nice goin man!

  • Thanks for the comment; for more examples of this technique, use these keywords: triangle mount jaeblu

  • talk about some week jiu jitsu

  • no - this wasn't the jiu jitsu move of the week... or was that just weak spelling? :)

  • i need to try that bt damm rolling is lk a game a chess or somthin

  • hollerfirst - you are so right; once you get past the size differences, technique is king... control and positioning and the ability to think ahead of your opponent can make all the difference.

  • could have been more agressive it was like 2 turtles. but if you were to apply it id just keep striking.

  • wow, ive never seen that before. definetly a finisher. but it seems like itd be tuff to get the legs under his head in a real fight, when your fatuiged. probly takes alot of practice to get it though.

    nice vid.

  • Thanks. I've never tried this in a street fight, but since this particular clip was video'd, I've used this move quite a bit when doing submission fighting matches. Most opponents don't expect this type of submission from the mount. You can see several other example applications of this same move from the video list on my channel.

  • I've pulled it off a couple times in training, most of the time against a strong opponent you will have to roll though.

  • The more I attempt this move the more I'm finding opportunities to apply this move. Like most submissions, the more you try it, the more you get...the more you get, the easier it becomes to se the opportunity and apply it.

  • that wasnt very good ther pretty slow n it took him too long to do it

  • the most impressive triangle i've ever seen was when tony bonello got picked up to be slammed and applied the triangle mid air and held it even after he hit the ground. It was brilliant!

  • you have to be very quick o pull this move of (or very heavy), alot of the time a person can simply bump and roll, this destablizes the person on top, and gives you a fighting chance, but if you can pull this move of like the gentle man in the film, all i can say is well done, good move to have in your arsenal :->

  • I agree. I will add that providing you get the one leg under the head, your opponent can bump you and you can still lock it up as you roll to your side -- that in itself can make the guy think he's gaining ground when he is actually falling into the triangle trap. I've had success with this one and have a few other vids in my collection demonstrating this. Just type in: Triangle Choke From Mount in the Search box to see all four.

  • I agree as well. I find it easier to get the triangle from the bottom and roll him into a triangle mount.

  • ummm. when you get rolled and you still have the triangle position applied its not gonna fail. i agree with jaeblu

  • Wouldn't the guy on the bottom roll you over while you are trying to get your legs around his neck?

  • It can be tricky keeping your weight up high enough to keep him pinned down and not topple over, but I've used this move several times and it works. Actually to hook the leg, sometimes I will fall over making him think he is rolling me - it gives me better leverage for locking in the triangle.

  • I think he can escape if he rolls you before you has the leg hooked over his neck. Afterwards looks to me like you can pull it of no matter the position.

  • yeah, i used it in this years gracie invitational in the fight for 3rd. search "2007.05.19.15" even if they roll you, you have it ready to apply. but he escaped when i swapped to a sloppy armbar :D

  • Saw your video gost3. You still managed the triangle even though he rolled. But, how come he did not submit to it?

  • well, this was my 5th fight so i was pretty tired, didnt put it on with a vengence, i should have underhooked his leg to stop him stepping over (which is a good escape). i also probably could have adjusted and pulled his head into it, but the armbar came up... but as i said i went for the armbar sloppily heh.

  • yea but if you could pull it off it would be great.

  • the first 30 seconds of this video is useless.

  • but not as useless as your comment... :)

  • fully sic

  • Comment removed

  • yes it was a ufc fight it ws funny cause the guy on bottum went for it, the other guy tried to roll out but first guy rolled into top triangle and instantly told the ref he tapped but he did not. then a second or so later the guy did tap. I hope that made some sence

  • its not a UFC fight, just two guys rolling.

  • some one asked me if any body had ever seen a triangel from mount in a big name mma event. so I answered. I train mma primarily in BJJ. I know what this is!

  • nice

  • awesome
