My husband and I are actively preparing to build our house from earth and get self-sustainable. The more I keep simplifying in my mind the more and more I realize that I don't really 'need' electricity at all. It's just a luxury. =))
winter survival like this isnt too hard. when i was in boy scouts we did a winter overnighter. it got to -20F. i made a lean-to shelter up against a pine tree. then laid branches and pine boughs down for the outter shell of the lean-to. also did that snow trick to keep the wind out. also laying pine boughs down inside the lean-to helps insulate you from the cold ground.
thank you very much for these vids :) we're on the same level of preparing. you're vids are perfect for inspiration and extra tips. thanx again. good luck to you in the future.
Oh, earthtubes are also something to look into for passive cooling and heating needs. very clever.
