Good doubles at the beginning, but 2 months could DEFINITELY be considered "lack of practice", I am not saying this was bad, but 2 months is not a lot of time to learn and perfect a new move. I have moves I've worked on for years and still won't do them on camera because I don't think they are ready. (Sorry for caps, don't think I can italicize on YouTube). Good job though man keep it up.
Great video my friend, and I agree that the large action covering the move was a good idea. It IS hard to perform for an unblinking eye. I'm sure you shake it much less when performing live. Great job.
If you are trying to fool the average lay person, excellent work, your patter and swiftness with the move are great, but could be improved if you think it is necessary.
I agree alomost. The rise was the only "bad" pat. However your double lifts were truely great. The only thing I noticed was your "going up to the top". That was LARGE motions..
I wouldn't think that practicing a movie like this since April would be considered lack of practice. I shook so violently out of fear of the camera's unblinking eye. I'll post a new video of this soon, doing the "rise" the way I usually do.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but I'm not gonna hope on the "that's perfect!" train.
The motion is fine for the first two phases, but for the last it should be a slow, barely vertical, movement. Watch Chris do this himself. Then yours. Think about how much better reactions will be.
As far as the not screaming to a layperson, you're totally right. That's a perfectly natural motion. It won't raise any suspicion at all. Do that when you're doing a pass and watch it fly right over the specs head.
You are WAAAY under practiced. Your up and down motion screams "I am doing something I don't want you to see."
You may say this has gotten good reactions when you show people, but watch Chris do this. THAT'S how it should look. Your handling of this effect is ridiculous. You should have practiced more.
compared to raise rise this trick is... Straigth Up Crap. Although you did it well, a spectator would know that you are doing something, it's just not clean..
I will say this, both effects are equally visual, and-when perfected-equally deceptive. I mean, just watch the trailer on Vanishing Inc! Either way, the spectator sees the same thing.
What I dont like about this effect or atleast the way he does it, the shake is way to large. The spectator still doesnt see it very much. Idk, its jus that if i was a spectator I could tell you are doing something and also, wouldnt be that impressed.

the original raise rise is as hard as it gets, along with doing a road runner cull to separate a "triumphed" deck.

I really appreciate the effort in your patter!
Great job on the trick!

@Cardwiz1 His handling was very good actually better than yours as a matter of fact.

It's a video? What does that have to do with anything. I've read posts by you yourself talking about YouTube hurting magicians.
I think everything about this video is fine except for the "lazy rise" itself. You're using that large motion to cover up your lack of practice.

Mike. I'm trying to help you. Sorry for being a bit blunt.
Just because you've been practicing since April doesn't change the fact you use that horrendous uppercut motion to cover the move.
This "rise" is hard to catch unless you know what you are looking for. If you haven't already, watch Chris do it. It's beautiful.
I'd love to see you post a new video of you doing it the right way.
FrankFogg 2 years ago
I thought it was awesome Frank. His up and down motions only scream to magicians. To a layperson it doesn't scream anything but, "Nice trick".

Wouldn't Cheng's Riser (the easier version with the face-down card) be a much more visual way for the finale?

I don't like Cheng's Riser personally.

have you ever done this live?

Of course. It's not that difficult.

great performance. I still can't do raise rise at all so a alternative would be nice, so were can this be learned?

In regard to the video, it was nice. A little more practice needed, though, seeing as the tutorial only just came out!

Hey Michael nice performence. Have you actually got Clockwork Apple? If so would you recommend buying it?
Thanks for any suggestion.

UnknownMagician93 2 years ago
I beg to differ. I know from my own experience and the experience of many others that this trick is just as deceptive as Raise Rise.
magicianmike1234 2 years ago
Also, Ray Kosby himself considers Lazy Rise to be just as good as his own Raise Rise. There's a testimonial on the Vanishing Inc. Website.
magicianmike1234 2 years ago
Well no duh Ray Kosby wouldn't be like hey chris your trick SUCKS!!!
It's just too twitchy in my opinion.

The shake can be smaller... I've only been working on this for a month or so, so I still shake a little harder.
