meaning everything is controlled. If things aren't going the 'right' way in a totalitarian environment people start to... disappear. One person stepping out of line means a lot of trouble - they try and achieve a seemingly utopian paradise out of cruelty and total control of everything.

@Sweetchinmusic666 - Mirror's Edge is a game about running, it only makes sense that run'n'gun is the only (non-sniper) shooting mechanic. And people don't tend to have the remaining ammo for a gun they've just picked up available for view on the edge of their vision in reality, do they? (aside from those bullet counter gadgets which aren't really used anyhow)
