I understand you guys' pain. We lost our church (Hickory Grove Community Church) in Ottumwa in 1996 to arson.To all you out there who are being rude, watch out. Something bad may happen to you some day. Can we laugh at your pain too??

My dad and I went by there the night this happened. The sky all over clinton was tinted with orange and red hues. My mother worked for this church as an organist for a long time. What a shame.

As for you jerks and dip-sticks on here who all you can think about is hatin' on us christians, at least appreciate how this church helped with jobs and it's former beauty. I hope God blesses you, even though you can't control your mouth (or keyboard). Don't comment like stupid five year olds.

This church was not only an amazing architectural structure but the livelihood of many families, and the home of a congregation who loved the lord. Keep you retarded, rude, nasty comments to yourself. I went to this church for a while, and all the people there were HEARTBROKEN when this happens. IF you think that's awesome then I hope your house burns down, wouldnt that be nice?

Old wooden church, advanced fire on arrival, unstoppable, but it looks like the FD did a great job saving the front (office with important records?) and steeple.

Too bad I lost my friend Angel & her son in that fire though, well she was killed before the fire was even set. I had to leave work early that night as I knew it was in her apartment & she was nowhere to be found, I was at work worried and asked to leave & they let me. I then found out around 4am that it was in fact her and Cyrus found inside unresponsive. It was good to see a great turnout for their candlelight vigil. She had many friends & alot of people that did not know her showed support.

I am very sorry for your loss and the loss to the community. I live just a couple blocks from the Bluff apartments and seen all the action. I hope they find out who did this.

Thanks, I appreciate it. So far I believe the detectives don't have much to go on or any decent leads. I wish the person responsible would just turn themselves in. The visitation & funeral will be next week just before the New Year.
