the orange liitle tube is a repair tube , say your on the trail and your tent pole snaps slide that tube over the break and your good to go . easy fix while on the trail
@marionette912 - yeah I had the same tube. Based on the directions (from my memory) it is just extra. And no you do not need to water proof the seams.
@marionette912 Extra orange tube is for pole repair if needed just slip it over damaged section of pole for an easy temporary fix. Hope this helps : )
That's a repair tube. if you have a pole break or crack, slip the tube onto the pole over the crack and tape it down. It's not a permanent fix, but it will get you out of the woods.
Thanks so much for posting this. After stuggling several times, I found your video and set it up in less than a minute!
A few tips for others:
1 - stake the tent first 2 - lay the poles on the tent, (you can kinda see how they go in his video) 3 - do the silver poles first, then orange. 4- do the two short orange poles, 5 do all the clips.
Very easy! And yes one person can do it. I'm a tiny 40 year old woman who never put up a tent before and I did it.
"alright, it's hot as balls in here..." haha well said. it does gets pretty warm in this tent while in the sun. hell, all tents do. i bought one not to long ago but still havent had the chance to try it out. i set it up in my yard and was very easy. cant wait to give it a test.
Thank you for clarifying. Your video starts with the poles already in place. I didn't know if you had someone help you or it you set it up entirely alone.
@MsSpy - Yes I did that to cut video time. Here's a tip, make sure you get the footprint as a vapor barrier and stake out the corners so it doesn't move when you insert the gray pole. A full test of it's waterproofness see my Camping 2009 Part 2 video where we had 3 inches of water go under the tent with no leakage. I highly recommend this tent.

Just bought the T3, no tent usage or so since about 20+ years and here it comes I set it up in my hotel room (suite) within just 6-7 minutes. No, didn't damage anything ;-)
I admit, I had to watch the video here first to figure one tricky point. Other than that, piece a cake....
Going to test my new T2 and let you know what I think. Thanks for the review. One think I wondered about is the hubs supposed to be facing up or facing to the down?
As an Eagle Scout and life-long Alaskan -- I can attest to the quality of REI tents. I used an original half-dome in all seasons in my teenage years. Now, I own a T1 quarterdome. I know for a fact it'll hold up as well as my old half dome. AND I can just return it to the store (no shipping for warranty work!) I like this video because it is a no BS, real-world setup. Kudos!
I cant find this tent on reis website anymore. Did they stop selling it?

@latinkulta They may have taken it off the market. It has been over 2 years since I posted this video. Designs change.

Nice tent! When rolling up your doors to the fly you should roll it inwards not outwards. This helps to keep rain water out of the rolled up door.

Good video. Thanks. I am looking at getting either this tent or the REI Half Dome. They look like good sturdy tents and not too heavy. Anthony.

After I set it up, there was a small 6 inch orange tube left over. What is this for? Also, do I need to water proof the seams?
Thanks so much for all of your help!

Can you setup this tent alone? Or do you need two people? I'm thinkinga about the T2 as a solo tent.

@MsSpy - I just displayed you can set it up by yourself...

A 3 and 1/2 pound tent isn't ultralight but it is a nice tent

@Bassman018 - I understand but it is stated as ultra-light on REI's website.

Looks good! I was considering that tent or the msr hubba hubba hp as some trails don't have enough trees for hammocks, like the chilkoot trail.

REI is cheaper and it takes a beating. Look at day 2 of my 2009 camping trip. Water flooded underneath us and still nothing got in. Great tent bro!

looks great, I have almost bought it a few times, but If I'm buy myself I'll stick to my tarp shelter
