  • The minimalist appearance of the dude and the oxen made this a spooky animation when I was about 5.

  • This looks a touch like the work of R.O. Blechman, but I can't be sure!

  • Just another typical day on the ol' trail....

  • The only buggy made out of a bridge...or bridge made out of a buggy!

  • A Rope Bridge, we done that in Scoutings.

  • Amazing sound design! Peace.

  • man i havent seen this in ages : what a classic !

    cant beat those sound effects

  • I remember this well - the clip starts and ends with 'Home on the Range' and has a 'pots-and-pans' chorus in the middle which accompanies the building and dismantling of the bridge. YouTube is often a 'bridge' to my past, especially when it comes to shows like Sesame Street! Thanks for posting!

  • Most of these sounds I first heard on

Sesame Street and maybe The Electric

Company, like the rythmatic clanging to

build that bridge, but I had no clue they

existed long before the 1970's. This

sound, for instance can also be heard in

a Popeye cartoon as Bluto throws him

into a tower and he falls to the bottom of it,

with the rythmatic clanging followed by

the sound of Bowling pins striking.

  • Cute.

  • They should've left the bridge there instead of taking it down, maybe other vehicles may want to cross the bridge. Its a LOT of work to build a bridge as well.

  • Maybe the guy was going to face another valley later on?

It is a lot of work tobuild a bridge, but at least he's fast, esp in taking it down!

  • Classic, haven't seen this in ages. I always wondered how he did that. Anyone ever wonder how the wagon managed to stay on one wheel?

  • ..."uhh he could of just built a simple beam bridge with trangular trusses on the land sides.

  • But building that kind wouldn't make all those cool sounds!

  • "Home, home on the range, where the deer and the antelope play..."

  • I was also a little "scared" of this one, or at least I didn't like the simplistic animation/the expressions on the faces of the driver and oxen. I don't know what to make of this, kind of goofy. I don't know if there is really a point.

  • That guy must be tired after assembling and dismantling the bridge!

  • love those construction sounds.

  • I can't tell you how long I have been looking for this clip. Thanks for posting!

  • I liked the part where the guy takes it down--the sound's twice as fast and sounds backwards! For no reason that bit still cracks me up! Then the guy just sighs like he's disappointed, oh well, guess he's tired.

  • I just dunno... could 2 oxen really pull a wagon that was a convertible 50 ton steel tressle bridge ?? LOL great post !!

  • Hey...I never thought of that! Very good point and very funny! LOL

  • This scared me quite a bit...

  • Brings back the fond memories of playing Oregon Trail on the old Apple 2 computers.

  • I would have added a toll booth.

  • lol

  • i remember this one. if people can build bridges like this , there wouldnt be any trouble taking months and years to build them

  • I think he should have left the bridge assembled instead of taking it back down after crossing so other people trying to cross can get across with ease. Anyone agree?

  • Yes i do!

  • But if he did that, he would have no wagon and would have to just ride his horse.

  • Hey, that's better than walking! lol

  • Look more like oxen, and they're not comfortable to ride.

  • The sound effects are sounded like pots or some kind of metal.

  • "The skies are not cloudy. Fly the friendly skies. How is this possible? I look up, I see one sky." George Carlin
