According to wikipedia, the original song was by sung by BOB AZZAM. Please check his other songs on youtube. He was an Egyptian jewish singer (given name Waddie George Azzam), he was born in Alexandria, Egypt on October 24 1925, and died in Monaco on July 24 2004. He began his career in Italy in the late 50s singing in Italian and English. In 1960, he released two songs in France: ya Mustafa and "Fais-moi du couscous, chérie". He witnessed a great success in France in the beginning of the 60s.
