@MrRyanxyz Defusion could have split Dark Paladin back to Dark Magician and Buster Blader. Buster Blader would still hae been strong enough to take the Battle Waltz token and Shooting Star Dragon. This duel could have gone a lot longer if it went that way.

I'm not saying that I like Yusei over Yugi, or vice versa... but the fact that Shooting Star Dragon's effect to negate destruction was clearly and intentionally set aside just so they could make Yugi wins because everybody LOVES Yugi.

Except he never drew Obelisk or Ra. On Yusei's last turn, Yugi discarded the last card in his hand when he activated Dark Paladin's effect to negate Battle Waltz.

If the writers allowed Shooting Star to negate and destroy Dark Paladin, Yusei still would've attacked Dark Magician Girl and Yugi would be left topdecking, since he would have no cards on the field or in his hand. And many of the cards that you could name were already used him. And they don't usually carry multiple copies.

So tell me... at that point in time in the video... how would he summon Obelisk or Ra? Another Card of Sanctity, and some broken card that we've never heard of to get Special Summon three monsters and Tribute them?

@dabestgamer Yh but if this duel was allowed to work normally yugi would have known about Shooting stars effect and wouldn't have negated but would have switched his monsters to defense to keep his life safe and the de fusion end would have happened anyway. The writers just didn't want to prolong the duel. And in my previous comment I meant that he could have drawn either card when he had the tributes if the writers wanted and he would have one. Just admit it, Yugi's deck SMASHES Yusei's.

In which case, Yugi would've allowed Battle Waltz to activate. Dark Magician Girl would still get destroyed and Yugi would've only been able to deal 2500 on his next turn with De-Fusion. Then Yusei would've had Shooting Star attack Dark Magician. And the Duel would go on.

So no, Yugi's Deck doesn't smash Yusei's or vice versa. It appears you're showing favoritism to Yugi, just like the writers. I'm realistic with what I see and know, which is why I said Yusei would've won given what I see here.

Further, I would think that if they allowed Yugi to have the Gods, they would level the playing field and give them the same weaknesses as the real cards so that it's not unfair for Yusei. But this argument is moot as no Gods were used in this Duel.

At the end of the day, the writers had favoritism for Yugi by not letting Yusei negate Dark Paladin's effect giving him the win.

@dabestgamer What i meant when I said Yugis deck smashes Yuseis is that if you look at the key cards in each deck and how yugi has pot and reborn, Yugi is a distinct advantage as he has many of the staples of Yugioh in his deck which Yusei doesn't

Strictly looking at the Decks and not the people using them, staples don't mean a thing if the rest of the Deck isn't consistent. They'd fend off Yusei for a while and make things tricky for him, sure... but a Deck's consistency is still a major factor.

Regardless, in this Duel, Yugi won only because the writers clearly neglected Shooting Star's effect in that moment in time. If they didn't, Yusei would've won.

@thyDARE yata locks rarely work if you think about it. Yata has 200 atk, so it would take 40 turns to get a person from 8000 to 0, normally you would deck yourself before that would happen......

I like how they use the anime rules. Most of yugi's cards are banned from the game and he used illegal moves. Between two legal decks, the old school deck is more likely to lose. Those synchro monsters are hard to beat.

Yugioh was intended for children, according to the creators. The most mechanically/strategically complex CCG according to critics is Legend of the Five Rings (1996-present). Magic is not the most complex but it is the most flexible CCG system which is the common virtue of being first and longest active.

Yusei shuold have won. He couls just have negated Dark paldins effect, when the waltz token could have taken out Dark Magician Girl, and Shooting star could have attacked dirtecly for 3300 and then yugi would only have had 700lp left and stil be faceing a shooting star and yusei would still have 5100lpl, so in the end Yusei would have won, and if it was suppose to look like if yugi and yusei had a duel, everybody would know that yusei wouldn't forget shooting star dragon's effect.

Second, both Shooting Star and Stardust can negate destruction effects that would destroy cards on the field. At that moment, Battle Waltz IS on the field.

Respectively:
