You can clearly hear the hand of the master on this album wich is produced by Porcupine Tree's Steve Wilson. Wilson also wrote some material for this really good progrock album.

Opeth proved with this album that the band has much more to offer then only the musically very limited styles of metal.

@LyricsArFun Well Blackwater Park was I guess their "breakthrough" album. Personally I love all of Opeth's albums. I think my two favorites are Damnation and Watershed. Damnation is all very soft music and Watershed has both the soft and heavy aspects of their music. So one of those three would be the best, if not all of them

great album.. reminds me of rock band.. guys that look like they should be setlisted to play death metal.. yet churning out soothing lullabies. Takes immense talent. It's a testament to these guys for being one of the few metal bands to pull it off so well.

i think what makes opeth such a good live band is that they arent a "play loud" band. if on guitar is supposed to quieter then another on the album then they do the same live. same with the drums and solos, as to where other bands just crank the volume to ten, and muddy the solos cant even hear the bass and you cant tell there are two guitar parts being played. opeth does the entire thing perfectly. my favorite band.

I think you need to learn how to tune guitars, the tuning is fine, the chords at 1:49 are made so if it were out of tune you couldn't even obtain that with every string in the same tuning.
