I think the voyage to the new world served as a filter, it limited the type of person that would be here to form a new nation. We often take for granted our knowledge of the planet and space, where in the day of Columbus and the Pilgrims it took a bit more bravery to make an oceanic voyage, literally, not knowing what was out there. I think this limited the character type to that of a brave and couragous type. It was good stuff to be made of, this nation was lucky to have.

@kd5gua Sadly, I know many got literally drug, kicking and screaming, onto ships, lol, we do have the Democrats.
