These were incredibly heroic women of WW2 that for some reason did not make it to our history books. I know only the few bits and pieces I've gleaned from the web. One thing I did learn was that they refused to fly with parachutes. They would rather die in flight than succumb to the Nazis. It was the Germans who named them Night Witches. Would love to see a movie about them. Would love more to see them in our history books. Remember Russia was one of the Allies at the time.
These women were brave and independent, REAL individualists. I hate it how that word gets slanted nowadays. People like these women are real tough individuals, and society needs such people, not hipster whores who think they're badass because they bleached their hair and donned an ironic t-shirt...

It seems that killing was the main program of the Soviets. More Soviet people died before WWII than anywhere else. Then WWII came along with 20million military deaths. Soviet weapons were and still are crap, the Gulf War proved that. Once the US went into full war production, we made the best weapons in every category. Soviet planes were a joke. This russian bomber (Po-2) was so slow and so incredibly manouverable at low speeds that was almost impossible for a german bf109 pilot to shoot one down. Some german pilots gained the iron cross just for shooting one of these bombers down.

These were incredibly heroic women of WW2 that for some reason did not make it to our history books. I know only the few bits and pieces I've gleaned from the web. One thing I did learn was that they refused to fly with parachutes. They would rather die in flight than succumb to the Nazis. It was the Germans who named them Night Witches. Would love to see a movie about them. Would love more to see them in our history books. Remember Russia was one of the Allies at the time.

After the US supported Georgia the Russians lost all hope of reconquering Georgia. Russia is only good at attacking a weaker opponent. When the US supports a Russian opponent it loses. @Vanyaaynav The Sherman was a very poor tank, but that's all we had as we were not a military country like the USSR. It took us awhile to develop good tanks. Soviet weapons were and still are crap, the Gulf War proved that. Once the US went into full war production, we made the best weapons in every category. Soviet planes were a joke. The only advantage the USSR had in WWII was pure numbers and they sacrificed their people without mercy. That won't work anymore.

Yes.. Hitler chose the wrong enemy, thats for sure. If he and Stalin turned on Britain together for example, they would have crushed them. The Red Fleet was a force to be reckoned with. And the manpower from the Russians, who would have overrun London. HItler and Stalin together in war would have been unstoppable.
Unfortunately, he made the alliances with the low (for that time) developed countries i.e. Hungary and Romania which were too weak in the long run.

This russian bomber (Po-2) was so slow and so incredibly manouverable at low speeds that was almost impossible for a german bf109 pilot to shoot one down. Some german pilots gained the iron cross just for shooting one of these bombers down.

Any nation that sends its women to fight its battles, is a nation not worth defending. But when it happens, The Courage of such women is absolutely heart rending. Flying into the heart of the enemy at the speed of smell in a wood and canvas PO-2 biplane the size of a pack of gum, with no parachute, and the gas tank inches away knowing if your plane goes up, you will die a horribly slow and painful death. That's Courage.
And its also tragic that any woman should ever have to.

@Bohica564 The reason why the women of the Soviet Union DESIRED to fight against Nazi Germany, was because in the early days of the invasion of the Soviet Union many a Russian woman lost Brothers,Uncles,Fathers and Sons.The Nazis especiallly the SS were very brutal.What fueled also Russian women was the extreme hatred they had for the Nazi and pure revenge in their hearts.And you know what It was RIGHT AND JUST!.
The Soviet Union lost 27 million souls.I salute these courageous women.

I salute to any soul and live which fought against the Nazis....as I am a german...I was and am never have been accepted by the free and democratic people of France and the UK ..they do celebrate the stalinists but hate us free democratic germans...but what does that mean in the end????well I think very much western do not like freedom and democracy and therefore do attackus modern germans, cause we mean enhancement of the western values...I am glad we are integrated in Europe

"Raping Soviets" is a myth, a product of Cold War Propaganda. You should read less Conquest because he took the number right out of his asshole. In fact more women were raped in the Soviet Union by Germans than the other way, the Germans just didn't consider it a crime and never reported it. They were fucking "untermenschen" which was considered ok and normal.

Volga region and northern Kazahstan were affected too. Reason? Overzealous party leaders sent out from the cities into the villages to secure foodstuff for industrialization, while knowing very little of agriculture and such.

During the collectivization of the farms of the Ukraine, 10 million women and children were deliberately starved to death.
