@blankpaper66 Select the ISO only from the browse option in the GUI, start the game with the boot CDVD (fast).

Alternatively you can use the Linus ISO plugin and select the img from it but in this case you must make sure "Plugin" and not "Iso" is selected in the GUI.

@blankpaper66 You have a split rar file. Download Winrar if you havent already. Then open the first part with Winrar and inside youll see the ISO file. Just drag it to the desktop and the whole ISO will extract from all 5 parts automatically into 1 file.

I was reading at your comments and explanations.

I got the following config, and would like to know if it's enough to run GT4 on PCSX2 V0.9.8 :

Core Duo E6750 (2.6GHz)

GeForce 8800 GT

2 Go RAM

Windows XP

Right now, that config is really enough to run Crysis 2 (for example) at the full settings (except for the antialias), and it run smoothly.

However, GT4, by configuring again and again, nothing changem still really low FPS.

@remytopgun Emulation requires heaps more power than PC Games, because PC games are made for the x86 architecture, whereas Console games use a completely different architecture, the CPU has to jump through a bunch of hoops before you get something usefull when emulating. Your going to need to crank your CPU to 3.2Ghz to get something playable maybe 40fps, at 3.8Ghz youll probably hit 50fps half the time.

When emulating the GPU is less of a concern, as consoles use the CPU more than the GPU, opposite of PC games.

@Zimba9810 i7 @ 4Ghz is not enough for GT4 on PCSX2. I had my Q6600 at 3.2Ghz to get anything decent from this emulator. Q8200 is very poorly clocked and PCSX2 uses 2 cores, so clock speed is more important than number of cores.

You cant even overclock the Q8200 easily as the multiplier is locked at 8, so i think without touching the Ram you can get 2.8Ghz out of it, which is still quite slow.

@Zimba9810 download my pcsx2 in description it has correct settings. You might need to change the GSDX plugin to SSSE3 version in the graphics settings and also turn on some speed hacks if you want to use a fresh version from the PCSX2 website.

@rallyrobin yeh your CPU doesnt have all the instruction sets like sse4.2 etc

What you need to do is, find the highest supported instruction set, might be SSE3, then change the Graphics plugin to that version. Each graphics plugin has its own instruction sets. The one currently selected doesnt support the CPU hence it crashes when you race.

Thanks for the config! I'd spent hours trying to make it work, but had no luck, but your config works wonders. Unfortunately trying this on an old PC with a 1.86GHz C2D and a Radeon X1300 didn't go well - 12fps in game. Still, while unplayable due to the lag, there weren't any graphical glitches in game, so it should be great for when I finally get a better PC.

But like i said, its better to rip your game to the HDD as it will run better than from the DVD as it is slower to read it.

@REDZOEU i think i included the memory card. if not you can get it off google, then just use the memory card editor to put it into the PCSX2 memory card. And if you want, you can use a Hex editor to change the profile name. Thats how i remember doing it =P

@snippidippi Try with Frame Skip enabled. You press F4 to toggle Framskip between: On, Limit, Off while ingame. If you look at the console when you press F4 itll show the current status of the Frame Skip.

But you need a newer CPU, SSE3 gives a boost.

My 4Ghz i7 still struggles.

i have a problem. in the map (home, halls, etc) the game works a pretty slow. in the list of my own cars in home, it works normal. and if i looks one of these cars, the game go terrible slow, 10/12 fps. i have a core 2 duo 3,4 ghz, and i had to change the graphics to SSE2 and match it with your SSSE3, because in my pc only works SSE2. is SSE2 the reason?

@kimbulovran system specs? Try changing the DVD plugin to Linuz ISO one. That error is nothing to be alarmed about though.

About the game freezing, that maybe due to system specs. Try also change the frame limit to Normal option in CPU settings. Then try play the game.

If all the boxes go empty, i think you should try re-downloading the files, and starting over.

Your Specs are fine, though as PCsx2 only used 2 cores, the i7 still needs around 3Ghz to match my 3.2Ghz performance on GT4. At 3.8Ghz you can probably play with near to 0 slowdowns.

@juan193 Well i dl'd PAL and NTSC, and for NTSC to run you have to run 480P Display mode in game. That causes the colours to go dull and yuk, also sucks up more CPU power.

Have you heard of torrents? You can get GT4 PAL torrent from Piratebay. And then use Utorrent to open the torrent file and will start downloading. =P

@jasjeetsuri i got a copy of the game, tho i have no idea if its a PAL or not.. any way, it really looks awful inmy pc even tho its not an old or sucky one, im still trying to set it up tomy pc speed and make it run as smoothly as i can, as for the record, ill use the saved game you have on your folder lol, 17 cars and all golded, not a bad idea huh??

@juan193 lol yes of course you can. To find out if it is PAL, go into options, then Screen, and then if there is an option for Video Output then it is NTSC, if there isnt an option for Video Output then its PAL.

@juan193 I meant once you Launch the game in PCSX2, in the main menu of GT$ go to Options, then Screen, and if it has an option for Video Output, then its NTSC, if it doesnt then its PAL.

@jasjeetsuri guess thats not gonna be possible.. in the console it says it runs both, im guessing protocols.. but i just cant play the game as for the low fps rate and graphics, and i just cant get it to work... i think it does run in my pc, but i mean, i dont know how to proper config it..

Gforce 9500gt (I think..). I dont know how good or bad is.. i've seen many games that need a 3.0GHz.. never seen one with that.. or even knew there were until i saw the games requirments.. lol
