I remember the "$100,000 Finals" episode, but I don't know why they change the rules in Melody Roulette. They updated the money amounts all the way to $1,000 in the Tom Kennedy version, and then the host spun only once instead spun 5 times. I prefer the previous 5-spin Melody Roulette a lot better than the single-spin version.
@HomeoftheGoodGuys probably just to save time. At one point melody roulette was best of seven tunes, and I guess the time used in the spins became a factor.
Les Gould won his semi final game of this tourney against ATGSer/Invisioner Tammy Warner. He got the last tune right to break the tie in the GOlden Medley SHowdown round with one second left. He started celebrating, and then it was found that the second hadn't ticked off the clock yet.
@zachhoran @ 4:27 *pop!* I Swear, throughout this run of NTT, everynow and then there was a *pop* heard. Sometimes it was ignored, sometimes there was an audience reaction! My guess it was a balloon (one of MANY!) that was just sitting there in the rafters until someone won $100,000, is that the case?

The sounds of popping was from the balloons from the ceiling. ISTR they even sometimes popped during non-tournament episodes.

@zachhoran Yes, I know. That was my point.
