  • c130 better ...all of them

  • So we can actully pocketpark a C-17. ^^

  • They need side mirror..

  • I've seen this happen in person. It's nucking futs.

  • just look at this beast, that is american ingenuity ladies and gentlemen. |:-)

  • Wow. Kids, don't try this at home!

  • that is a real reverse :D

  • RED LIST SHIT DEATH BLUE N YELLOW TOO NO FEMA GOOLOG CAMP FOR ME LOOK UP ALEX JONES.

  • Holy shit!

  • tower : C17, exit echo 1

    (C17 goes past echo 1,2,3,4)

    tower : C17, i told u to exit at echo 1 #!$!#$

    C17 : no problem sir!!..

    Thrust reversers....problemo solve!!!!

  • I own one of these and the neighbors freak every time i back this bad boy in the hanger.

  • It was a fabulous time!

  • That could have landed using even less runway then that one did then in that demonstration!! I've see a C-17 do a short field demonstration with its spoilers up and reverse thrust applied whilst the aircraft was still about 50ft-80ft in the air!!!

  • Nice car! Looks stable while reversing!

  • Next time they should apply brakes while backing up and pop a wheelie!

  • You wanna impress me now make it take off backwards..

  • Michael Jackson's plane.

  • first plane i've seen that can reverse it's self

  • @guitarplayerforu all planes with reverse thrust can reverse.

  • @Billthecat6 you are something else

  • @Billthecat6 I love your sense of humor :DDDDDD

  • full break with reverse ... nice combination ...

  • Beep Beep Beep Beep .... parked ;D

  • this video doesnt show how bloody huge these c-17s are

  • Some where not so far away, there is a tech chief screaming his head off.

  • Some where no so far away, there is a tech chief screaming his head off.

  • I was doing over 112 mph down the freeway last week, and when I applied a little bit of pressure on brakes, and the car vibrated. It takes a relatively long period of time to stop a car when traveling at high speeds. Yet a C-17 with thrust reversers can stop in a fraction of distance of car, amazing.

  • so agile! amazing!!

  • No rear view mirrors

  • One just flew over my house too north eastern Virginia only over 1000 - 2000 feet, verrrryyy loud. F**king amazing to see in RL vs this video.

  • this plane is frikin loud. it landed in rdu and went around 2000 feet over my house. i was wondering what was so loud because the usual planes dont make those sounds. i thought it was a 747,777,767,a340. but it was this. so beautiful

  • HEY.....theres something the engeneers missed on this one........the pip....pip....pip...sound sound on reverse.....:)

  • great aircrafth

  • god i need to get to this air show some time

  • Will someone smarter than me explain how the trhrust reverser works?

  • @sixstringfretter normally jet thrust force the plane forward, but the thrust reverser is reversing the flow of the jet .. just imagine your blowing air from your mouth while your moving forward... small amount is nothing but in massive size.... you make yourself stop

  • @ongesinaiya I understand the idea of reversing thrust, just how is it done? Normally you see "buckets" or "clamshells" covering the exhaust to redirect thrust. I dont see that here. The compressor blades are turning the same direction, so where does the reversing come from?

  • @sixstringfretter just type "Trent Thrust" in youtube and see how it works. ;)

  • @feluke Clamshell reverse thrust was used in low-bypass turbofans.

Modern engines with 5:1 bypass ratios or greater have more 'elegant' systems (thanks for pointing this out). Thrust from the core engine cannot be reversed by this method but this is irrelevant at ground speeds.

  • Say again tower? You want me to Parallel park this thing? Hang on let me back her up....

  • Completely Unsafe vehicle... Where's the Beep Beep Beep?

  • I had to take my headphones off at 1:17!!!

  • This is the first time I've ever seen a plane use reverse thrust to actually go backwards.

  • Very inmpressive demonstration. That kind of capability is essential in a combat zone if they're trying to get supplies or troops someplace in a hurry.

  • HAHAHAHA I LIKE THAT PILOT'S THINKING Y TURN AT THE NEXT EXIT WHEN YOU CAN JUSS BACK UP AND MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THIS 17 IS LIKE THE PILOT'S CAR BOY, WAYYSSS BUT OVER THAT WAS FUCKING AMAZING MAN, I REL RATE THOSE PILOTS SHORTEST LANDING I'VE EVER SEEN

  • Beautiful !!!

  • Spongebob: "Backing up.....Backing up....Backing up"

  • thats a big rig to back up in a straight line that far.

  • @Billthecat6 LOL

  • C-17 = Badass Big Bird!

  • Driving backward:O

  • weeee, look mammie, without my hands!!!! :P

  • Comment removed

  • Simply incredible

  • I love that in the C-17. The take off is louder than landing. The landing is louder then taxing. But the thrust reverser is fuckin louder than anything

  • these planes are designed to land and takeoff off a very short field

  • @Tjita1 I thought they don't reverse the engine... Don't they keep the engines going and just pull out 'flaps' to redirect the air in the opposite direction?

  • @Zelda079 OMG they do NOT reverse the engine turning diretion. They just open the reverse rings.

  • Comment removed

  • @Zelda079 The engines do not stop and rotate in the opposite direction. The cowling around the engine is moved in such a way that the thrust is diverted forward---pushing the plane back.

  • Rear View Mirror FTW...

  • Ha ha it needs a "beep, beep" reverse parking system! Amazing!

  • United States baby!! and to all the haters well fuck you motherfucker......AMERICAN will always be no.1 take that to the bank bitch!

  • @bammb00 Which bank aaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • @bammb00 uh, which bank? aren't all your banks bankrupt?

  • @Katkoot74 You're from the United Arab Emeretes and you're talking shit? Should you be killing a defenseless 14 year old girl for being a rape victim like the rest of you mudhut dwellers do?

  • It's called an opinion, and I am entitled to one - at least my people didn't have to kill a race of indigenous people to create a new homeland - you facist!

  • @Katkoot74 Awwww, it's cute how you don't know history either. (Protip: 99.9% of all indians who died after encountering Europeans was due to disease, which occurs when any highly isolated culture encounters the outside world). That's alright, I doubt you receive an education in your backwards little land.

Go back to oppressing women and killing homosexuals, as you people seem to have little else to do.

  • @17thknight hahah really?? i wonder where you got your education?? ever heard of the Indian Removal Act and the Trail of Tears? American Indian Wars maybe? Wounded Knee?

you're a funny little troll arent you?

  • @chuntophilus Of course, but if you think that I'm wrong then you're only betraying your own lack of education. 90% of Mexico's population of 20,000,000 died during the 1500's from JUST disease. 90%. The same disease rates ravaged the America's from top to bottom. (And no, the "smallpox blanket" Myth is exactly that...a myth). If you wish to engage a person who has spent 10 years studying history on a historical subject, you should probably get your facts in order, genius.

  • @chuntophilus And here's a nice little quote for you, as you seem to know nothing about history: "Nearly all scholars now believe that widespread epidemic disease, to which the natives had no prior exposure or resistance, was the overwhelming cause of the massive population decline of the Native Americans.[23] They reject both of the earliest European immigrants' explanations for the population decline of the American natives. " Choke on it.

  • @chuntophilus Look, look, I found another quote proving how stupid you are!: "While epidemic disease was BY FAR the leading cause of the population decline of the American indigenous peoples after 1492, there were other contributing factors, all of them related to European contact and colonization."

  • @Katkoot74 You also have ot just LOVE someone who lives in a union of 7 monarchies using the term "fascist". So cute. So uneducated. So evil.

  • @17thknight I am a woman you moron

  • @Katkoot74 So you don't oppress other women, you just kill homosexuals then?

  • @17thknight No - I just live here - am not a UAE national, or an Arab for that matter, I come from the Western world just like. So you aren't really insulting me, but you are full of hate, and that's just sad. It just goes to show that not once did you think you might not be communicating with the intended focus of your anger.

  • impressionante!

  • wowowow, He has a reverse gear! Haha.

  • Kewl.

  • Damn goes faster in reverse than my first car goes forward

  • that's amazing, i saw this demonstrated at an airshow last summer

  • @insanitystudio i saw that this year at my airshow

  • the last shred of mcdonnell-douglas

  • Actually, many if not most jet aircraft can do that, it's called powerback. The reason why they don't is that the engine is more likely to suck in debris (FOD) swirled up by the reversers. Due to that you usually cut out the reversers around 60 knots.

  • there's no rear view mirror for that..

  • in soviet russia planes fly backwards

  • Hmm, i was hoping it to take off in reverse... :D

  • RICKY BOBBY

  • Wow!!!?

  • Shit that was loud!

  • if anything needs a rear back-up camera it is this thing.

  • thanks i came all over the place.

  • that is funny, i always wanted to see a jet drive backwards.

  • C-17 - "Uhm tower... we missed the turnoff at Alpha"

Tower - "C-17 proceed and make the next left turn at Bravo"

C-17 - "No it's okay... we'll just backup and turn left at Alpha"

  • @JDMDatsun

    hahaha great!! :)

  • @JDMDatsun C-130 has powerful engines aswell he doesnt needs any pushback service the 4 engines do it for him ;)

  • @Juppie902 Well a lot of engines with variable pitch can throw themselves backwards too such as King Airs and Starships (yes, I have seen a Beechcraft Starship reverse into a parking spot).

  • @JDMDatsun hate to spoil the joke, but without ATC permission, the aircraft cannot 'backup' it must turn off at the NEXT taxiway, not the closest.

  • @jfsa380 Yes thank you Mr. Buzz Killington, I am aware that this a joke and you have to be so correct.

  • @JDMDatsun oh, well, like the name though, thats a first, i should start using that (no sarcasm)

  • @jfsa380 The military said "screw you ATC." Boom son!

  • Does it have one of those back-up beepers?

  • If a bird goes in the engines when its in reverse thrust, does the blood come out threw the front?

  • how much this plane wieght?

  • wheres the side mirrors?

  • WOW! The ability of that aircraft is amazing. Thanks for much for this video

  • what if they activated midflight :D

  • @furfeyl

it cant when its on air

but some aircraft can by pass it though

  • @rolmain88 have any accidents happened with this system yet? I remember when they tried using actual rocket engines to try and slow down the plane so it could use a shorter runway in a rescue operation to get the hostages in Iran out but one of the last test flights blew up

  • @furfeyl

accidents? highly unlikely becoz of the design. im not sure bout other planes but boeing thrust reversers can only be operate when the thrust lever is at idle. this is lock mechanically. and also cannot be operated on air due to the air/ground sensors.

im unaware of the rocket engines. but i have seen a youtube video where they use rockets on C-130 to accelerate the a/c. unless the rocket is fix to a position where is against the forward movement of the aircraft then mayb it can =D

  • @rolmain88 We can activate our reversers in flight. Its used to descend rapidly. We have an awesome descent rate.

  • @mil5606

Wow, thats something new for me!

Im a cilivian, i guess to operate reversers in flight is techtical flying that dont exist in the cilivian world.

the b737 can operate in flight too but its never used. its kinda dangerous

    nevertheless, good to know...

  • @mil5606 like for tactical landings in enemy territory... neat!

  • @furfeyl that would be funny if it could. I was a crew chief in the Air Force for 8 yrs and I also wondered the same thing when i first seen it. But luckily the system will not activate unless 2 conditions exist. 1. The jet has to have its landing gears down & locked. 2. The plane has to be on the ground. There is a switch in the wheel well that senses if these 2 conditions exist or not. If not it will not work. That way the dumb ass pilots won't jack up and crash our million plus dollar jet.

  • @ljones4617 First of all, it CAN throw out the reversers in midair, so clearly you weren't a crew chief for the C-17. Second, quit hatin on the pilots, especially when you have no clue what you're talking about. And third, well thats enough for now...

  • @picklizer I said I was a Crew Chief in the Air Force not a Crew Chief for that aircraft smart ass. Where in my statement does it say I was a crew cheif on the C-17??? I got my information from an actually C-17 crew chief when one landed on my base. He wanted to see my jet, the F-16 up close, so I asked him that very question. Now if he was wrong, that's another thing, but his answer sounds logical to me and better than yours which was NONE.

  • @ljones4617 It's implied when you make statements as if you are reading from the dash 1. No need to be so angry about it, I'm just stating facts about the aircraft.

  • @ljones4617 Our system was designed to work in mid-air too. We use it for rapid descents.

    - C-17 loadmaster-

  • @furfeyl Nothing. We just slow down...rapidly.

  • now thats a fast rewind

  • and who says steroids are bad

  • The thing goes faster backwards than my neighbor drives his car forward, and ill bet on that!

  • the aircraft is immence for its size

  • Just thirteen seconds from the time his wheels first touched down to a full stop; that's insane for an aircraft that large......

  • I don't understand how the air is redirected. On other types of reversers it is clear that the back of the engine is blocked in order to redirect the thrust forward but in here there are just some sort of apertures at the sides of the engine. Could someone explain please? :/

  • COOL!!! You don't see a jet back up very often!

  • that bullshit

  • one of these flew over my school one morning while my njrotc class was doing drill and i looked up and it sounded like a prius they are incredibly quiet when in the air.

  • holy redirection batman

  • this is really amazing

  • Push backs are for pussies

  • You in the dear allied United States.

I am a disaster victim in Japan. Please drop food and the drinking water. Thank you very much.

  • @LockheedF22Superstar Why dont you just order some on the internet, since you have time to watch C-17 videos on youtube while being washed away by a fucking tsunami.

  • No way... that is amazing.

  • BAD ASS! PERIOD!!!!

  • I would love to see the thrust reveser push back a plane from its gate every time i fly

  • @us757200

    espectaculo

  • Quien dijo que los aviones no tienen reversa?

Esta es otra de mis grandes paciones los aviones

Who said the planes do not have reverse? This is another of my great hobbies, planes

  • Wow that stops faster than my bros car

  • You know he must have grown up in Chicago... Dude parallel parked it.... hahaha

  • @mopardude426 hey im from chicago too

  • Holy shit, he doesn't need alot of airstrip to stop nice :O

  • ABS Breaks.

  • @raulox71 ABS is actually quite reliable...

  • @JCviggen1 Indeed. :-)

  • @raulox71

    arrecho

  • Can't wait to see it fly upside down.

  • "Come on back, Come on back. Come on back" Not better flight position then being the "Come on back" guy ^.^ for loading/unloading

  • Amazing !

  • C-17 is fucking fierce!!

  • Thats still a crazy capability.!

  • Wasn't this the day when 2 pilots died crashing into each other on taxi and the C-17 stalled until the next performance? No wait I was here in july so I guess not ^_^

  • err that stops better than my fuckin car!

  • hahaha esse nem precisa de push back

  • the nose looks a little like the dc-10

  • ''power back"..............

  • id say it was going 30-40 mph backwards lol

  • 太帥了 good A++

  • never thought i'd be excited over a cargo-airplane, but this machine is awesome! thanks for sharing this video!

  • The commercial aviation should use this technology, so many accidents could be avoided in short track. But that noise is good to hear, oh it is!

  • @eitaehnoiz You do realize commercial airplanes are equipped with reverse thrust? The fact they can't (aren't allowed) to do a power-back is due to possible FOD-damage and the huge fuel consumption. Pushbacks are a way better solution.

  • That is AWESOME!

  • Needs a rear view mirror!!!

  • Cool, never seen that before !

  • Daym!

  • Wow!First time i have seen any aircraft do that. The Indian Air Force is getting 16 of these birds to replace its IL-76s.Nice

  • between 1:02 to 1:06 see the engines stretch

  • Hold on honey I am backing this thing up!

  • DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • Dammit! Missed my turn. Hold on everyone!

  • Beats the hell out of Fred Flintstoneing it.

  • Holy Shit! Just Holy Shit! The power in those engines is incredible!

  • WHOOOO!!! U.S.A.F *Salutes* Love you guys!!! Id hate to see what that pilot can do wit a f22 or an f16

  • WHOOOO!!! U.S.A.F *Salutes* Love you guys!!!

  • yes it does because the c-5 gallexy has propellers

  • @epicpants100 yes

  • @epicpants100 well it clearly doen't
