This song so perfectly captures the spirit of c. 1979, a world removed from the early/mid 70's and prior to the yuppie/preppy/new wave 80's. The cultural symbols: tight jeans from Calvin Klein or Fiorucci (God knows how we got into them),a Datsun 280 Z/X (coolest car!) skinny ties and small collars, mid-calf dresses with matching vests, dancing and energy all the time, NYC called "The Big Apple," music like this (what I call "high" disco) ...an incredible era, so much style and expression.
Ja ja man kan godt høre hvem Denis LePage har hjulpet frem ud over hans kone Denise fra Lime. Carol Jani, og hans kone synger også vokal i Voggue på Dancing The Night Away.
I told fools that Back in the Day A lot of "House music" a lot of "Disco" was Hip Hop music to us. Cause at the time we used to listen to what ever made us move and we grooved to it. Hip Hop ran accross all kinds of lines. Even My Mom Loves this song and just calls it Dance Music
True that! People fail to give props to the overall movement as such. Graffitti artist for one, were the main instruments of the whole hip hop what is now known as. Like you also accurately point out is that many hip hop singers were British. Great Britain was the driving force behind early hip hop. Man Parish, Freeze, New Order, Malcoln McClaren's ( buffalo Gals). etc., etc., etc.,
luv it!!! ;-)
