  • Simple sets and costumes which don't get in the way of the story or distract from the music. Very nice. Too bad productions like this of the Ring are rarely done today.

  • This is from that dreadful RING of Wolfgang Wagner. I had friends singing in this production and they made jokes about it. Wolfgang was a business man, no artist. Hooray for Chereau, down with that godawful Wagner family of today!

  • Everthing is fantastic-----heroic, ancient, as Wagner INTENDED IT---but then two years later Wolfgang Wagner invited the evil genie Chereau in to direct--and that was the beginning of the end of BAYREUTH---the German folk let Frenchman Chereau transform their sacred archetypes into circus clowns, the sacred mountains into sewers---all for 'chereau's relevance' & avant garde--people perish by better intentions. I'm so hoppin mad that this wonderful mythic production was gutted & became a sewer!!

  • no sync........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is fascinating - but could you repost it with the synchronisation between sound and image corrected?

  • Franz Mazura and Jean Cox are singers from the old school. Heavy voices and they sing so beautiful! Jean Cox is one of the best heldentenors of the last century!

    More from these two maestros!!

  • I cannot but agree!

  • One of Cox' last Tristans was the first Opera I ever saw in my life.

It was a life-turning-point experience. I am a different person since that night.

  • the second part is from Gotterdammerung, not from Siegfried
