Agreed, but just about any standard kit lens can achieve f22 or f5.6. I think he was also trying to illustrate that any beginner photographer can capture these types of images with the lens that comes with their DSLR.

both pictures still look great imo. lol. but of cos, f5.6 is usually the best one to use when outdoors/sunny.

i only take shots like this at f/1.2 from 3 inches away. i prefer having only one antenna in focus. it makes my friends oooohh and aaahhhh

The lens used is also a key factor in obtaining good bokeh. Thus, make sure your lens has 9 rounded blades. Happy shooting :D
