I love how everyone thinks that RHCP can't survive without John. Johns amazing, dont get me wrong. but anyone ever heard of Hillel Slovak? You know, the original RHCP guitarist. He was in alot of ways the life blood of the peppers, and look what they done after his passing. RHCP has never had a permenant guitarist. It was just Johns time to go cause he felt that he wasnt with them in musical creativity no more. So he left, and they got Josh. Who is both a friend of the Peppers and John.

John knew he was going to quit the band so he got Josh on the 2007 shows so he can have a trial run and replace him eventually. Thats what I think.

@mk4life1 It's because John had overdubbed so many guitars in the Stadium Arcadium boxset that he needed a second guitarist to help fill out the sound I suspect. John in 2007 was still talking about making a new album at that time...

If you think about it... saying this was the last album with Fru would have helped it sell more... but they didn't say that because he only became disillusioned after touring the album. Josh playing the way he did on tour meant he was a natural replacement.

Guys, on john's fender, (stop at exactly 0:43, where it shows john's guitar), he has 21 frets, can that be considered a 'profesional' guitar? I have a Fender SQUIER, and my SQUIER has 22 frets. Butttttt, John's guitar looks longer and bigger, even though it has 1 fret less then mine, and my guitar looks smaller, I wanna buy a new guitar and I really need help.

Dude, John's Fender is a 1962 Stratocaster. One of the Strat's BEST years of production. These vintage instruments go around $30,000 these days. That is about as "professional" as it gets!

You could get a 62 reissue for around $1,500 though...
