  • seeing how these use could i use em on coyotes

  • Although the doctors would have one hell of a job getting all of those pellets out of your victims body, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna hurt.

  • OOOOHHH NNNOOO not the KOOL AiD!!

  • you should test these on your gel stuff you have in other videos. that would be interesting

  • @Mr400Babies Not long ago a young woman (I think she was 19) who was mourning the death of her husband had 2 intruders break in to her house from both entrances. She was alone aside from her infant. She called 911 and hid in the bedroom with a shotgun and pistol. She did NOT use lethal force until she had no other choice. One dead, the other escaped. In an interveiw she said she was going to do what was nessecary to protect her baby. Maybe she should have let the intruders have their way?

  • Do firearm manufactuers (in your case Colt) have anything to say for or against the use of this kind of product in a pistol? By the way Ive been living in TN for a year now, if you bag one of thoes mean Square Foam Snakes, they make for great insulation around your window mounted air conditioning.

  • LOL THE TENNESSEE SQUARE FOAM SNAKE HAHAHAHA

  • How likely are you to be in a situation where you need to blow a hole through a person to defend yourself? Does that question occur to any american? If someone attacked you or broke into your house and you hit them with a few shotshells I think they would probably leave you alone if they survived. Then at least you wouldn't have a load of innards and brain matter to clean up or a body to dispose of. Why are you guys so fixated on the use of deadly force?

  • @Mr400babies To be fair - I and most others I know who are willing to use a gun in self defense would not shoot unless imminently threatened - therefore, if they were to use it, it would be literally life or death for them. If it was my life or the assailant in front of me, I'm going to make sure it's him. Prompt incapacitation is the goal (I did not say kill - deadly force is used to stop quickly, not rack up a body count). Hope that helps you make sense of it, no offense meant.

  • @Mr400babies Also, I don't consider myself likely to ever be in such a situation. But I would rather be prepared and have an extra option available (which I hope to NEVER use) than be out of options with my life on the line. I understand your point, and "lethality and effect on target" is a gray area that is difficult for many to understand. Sometimes 1 round that does enough damage to stop them quickly gives a better chance of survival than many separate wounds that kill later.

  • any chance of reloading these with rock salt? ya know, you don't necessarily want to kill the dude lurking outside your daughter's window.

  • @tincan77 You got the right idea.

  • How many ants did you get?

  • Excellent work my friend did not think it would cycle the venerable colt 1911

  • "PAFF (slush) BAFF!!! (SPLASH) ... Any questions?" Will remember that for the rest of my life, this video is favorited!

  • @ToreDL87 count me in on that as well. Though if I do find a need for pistol shot-shell, 45ACP in the 1911 is a winner. tn9 has more videos in glocks if anyone hasn't seen them and they seem to have more issues.

  • LOL Yes i did consider shotshell for carry, but now NOPE ~~ bad guy going down !!

  • imagine that in a pistol cal carbine! auto foam snake killer!

  • What 1911 can i get thats about 650 and under thats fairly well

  • I think @12ft or less this would be a deadly headshot ammo

  • Good review, !keep it up!

  • would these be deadly if used in a real world confrontation??

  • would this work in a pcc , . like a .45 carbine with a longer barrel or would the shot damage the rifleing ? i just wonna kno cuz these seem like amazing verination round

  • thx for the .45 ACP review!

  • If I heard correctly you had no problems with snake shot and your Glock 30? Does the pellets do any damage to the rifling or barrel?

  • @CABruce80

No problem in the G30 or the 1911. Just clean your firearm thoroughly, as these shotshell loads are "smokier" than standard cartridges.

  • Sho this is just like handgun buckshot??

  • I think that out of all the shot shells you have reviewed this is the best one of all of them.

  • Good vid

  • Awesome channel subbed

  • LOL SQUARE FOAM SNAKE ROFL

  • TN, Nice to hear, or Not Hear that the Cicadas have calmed down. Seems like Shotshells might be the cause of the old shotgun Myth. The one where if sumone breaks into your home you just shoot in their general direction & you'll hit them!!!

  • I'm surprised this cycled the 1911 compared to the other shotshell tests you've done.

  • Great videos.... I always check your channel for a review before I buy ammo.... You are the reason I use winchester ranger loads in my ccw 9mm..... Thanks for all the great info !!!

  • lol The Colt 1911 Shotgun, great for hunting Wabbits!

  • Wow, never thought that any shot shell would cycle the slide on a 1911. Guess now I've got myself a better snake gun than the little H&R 622 revolver I've been using all this time ... and another excuse to open carry my 1911 in the desert. :-)

  • Pretty cool ammo. I'll stick with my 230gr gold dots though.

  • Good stuff, as ever! Thanks for sharing.

  • "Any questions?" lol

  • Is it easy to reload those shotshells? Like, if I was to load them with skittles...

  • @kekeke01

Non-reloadable for anything, but I do like the skittles idea.

  • @tnoutdoors9 Dang, I just ran a google search, and it seems like skittles got a very bad ballistic record. Do a google search for "supersonic skittles" if you wanna see the test.

  • @kekeke01 I found the page you suggested to be extremely informative. Now all I need is reloading equipment :)

  • @tnoutdoors9

4:18 ..........point well made lmfao, of course most people SHOULD know that a self defense cartridge needs around 12 inches of penetration in test media AFTER clothing barriers.

  • @tnoutdoors9 oh im srry my brain said somthing about rocksalt ? haha jk

  • I'd expect to see the idiots on 'Jackass' using these.

  • Great review

  • was that a metal target? thats a bit of risky business there... or was it paper....?

  • @startwarskidfan2 i mean that first target.

  • @startwarskidfan2 first was metal it seemed, and that seemed extreemly risky.

  • @startwarskidfan2

Yes it was metal and no it wasn't a risk due to the low power nature of this cartridge and the projectile, shot pattern, etc.. I would not have done this at 5 feet. There is a safe distance threshold using my targets that varies from caliber/load to another. I have shot enough to determine what that is for each.

  • @tnoutdoors9 i guess that would also make sense, i was thinking about that after i posted the comment, and then i realized that it might have been low power.. what is the Approx. grain amount for one of those shot shells? because i have a few for my Sig in a .22, as well as my Ruger Bearcat 50th Anniversary, and from my experience, they seemed to be low power. but then again, they took off a Western Diamondback's head..

  • @tnoutdoors9

where did you buy that metal target and stand? looks nice and would like to purchase one.

  • Thanks for doing these shot sell videos I fear that there are way to many people that see "shot shells" and think they are shot gun shells for handguns and will work for self defense. I like the range tests I find it helpful I have moles in the yard and often carry a gun with bird shot (what we call it) and it helps to see the spread pattern at different ranges.

    Thanks again

  • well that answered my self defense question...lol

  • Very cool, I bet all the trail hikers are happy to see that they don't have to go out and buy a Judge just to get some spread from a handgun!

  • Great video very informative!!

  • Thanks for the review & for posting!

  • Lol i really hate the foam snakes they are so annoying! Thankfully now i can use these rounds.

  • put this in the kriss super v

  • Now that was a very good vid on the .45 shoot shell. So, how many ants did you get? It seem that would be very effective on small rodents. Great job on showing the spread pattern.

  • Very cool =)

  • Magnificent, outstanding, completely well thought out test. You are the best my friend.

  • Nice video.

Not bad, a lot of shot shell's wont cycle in a auto.

Good pattern given it's being shot out of a rifled barrel.

I would not use these for SD however at close range I bet they would leave a gnarly flesh wound.

  • my brother got bit by a TN foam snake...he nearly died

  • Tennessee Cicada Medicine! Thanks for posting and all your work here!

  • Tennessee Cicada Medicine!

  • I like your channel especially for your very precise and well worked numbers. This time you had to do tedious counting, very nice work.

  • @shootcentermass

I can't find any 135 HST's! But you can still send me the cash.

  • Great video. I think I have to pick up couple boxes for the square foam snake LOL.

  • Doesn't seem like they would be to bad a choice for non-lethal rounds.

  • Not bad. Considerably better results compared the the .22lr version. I would say if you want to kill snakes with your .45 but want some meat left, these would not be a bad option. I would not want to be shot by them, but yes, lack of penetration make them a poor self defence round. They seem to work well for the purpose they were designed for though; close range small game and pest elimination.

  • If I was going to be nice, and NOT try to kill some one for breaking into my home, or assaulting me, then sure, I'd use this load, but me being nice about such a thing just isn't likely.

  • lol...that was great...

  • I have shot these through an S&W 9mm and Ruger 10/22 and both failed to cycle. These rounds are worthless. Pest control = my boot on it's head and these rounds in the trash can.

  • Excellent vid, man. Thanks for posting this.

  • would be a nice little get that damn change jar out of my window round... are jehovah witness considered pest?

  • Have shot several rounds through a Glock 21 sf with no hang ups or glitches. Being lead shot there was no wear or pitting at all on the rifling in the barrel. Great for Texas Cotten Mouths.

  • Totally effective self defense round (on people who are 3/4 of an inch thick.)

In oregami land I'm Rambo with those shotshells!

  • @tnoutdoors9 you know.. ive gotta thank you for making some of the best gun vids on youtube :D ive been subbed for a while and love to check in for the new vids all the time. so thank you sir :D

  • An excellent, thorough review. Thanks!

  • I would love to use these, make it more effective than my crap China made Ruger Airhawk pellet rifle. And you get 150 shots instead of 1 shot every 20 seconds! Too bad I'm in a residential area and couldn't fire a gun...

  • no questions.

  • Lol I like the bottle comparison.

  • Foammm Snake Super CCCOOOLLL

  • work great for intended use ..shooting snakes at the edge of the pond..hate to think somebody would carry these rds for self defense..

  • Comment removed

  • Good test,Thanks for your time.

  • It's been a while, so i dont remember for sure.. but i think these (in .40 S&W) did not even fire in my brother's M&P

  • Sadly I cant find any in .357sig. I don't mind taking my Glock with me when I'm fishing (hence the need for snake control and carrying a .357) but I am much more reluctant to bring my 1911 around water (whether I plan on getting it wet or not.)

  • Tennessee square foam-snake!!! LMAO :)

  • If your vids aren't educating me, then I'm usually lmfao! Your channel is one of THE best on YT! Looking forward to the next vid...

  • Correct me if I'm wrong?*

  • I feel like these little sons of bitches would screw up the rifling. Correct

  • I ran some of these through my Ruger P345 and they would not cycle.

  • @GoDuckHunting

Thanks for letting us know. Anyone else with this gun and/or others? We can build an information base RIGHT HERE.

  • No questions, class dismissed!

  • You are such a good shot im sure you just need one FMJ round to kill a snake at 20 feet.

But its a good way for us poor shots to get some lead on target lol

  • doesnt seem like a good idea for use in a glock, any pistol shot shell, due to polygonal rifling in glocks. U ever find anything about this mixture tnoutdoor? Just seems when u think about it, might dent up the rifling.

  • MAN, You do a really good job with these Vids. You are getting even better! This is good enough for TV! I wish you would let me send some Devestators in 38sp or 9mm though,,,

  • great video, I have been wanting to get some shot for a while now but did not know if it would cycle. thank you

  • Comment removed

  • Curious if it would even penetrate denim at more than 10 ft?

  • Great review!!!

  • another great video. thank you sir

  • :) Thanks for sharing. Very interesting.

  • I really like these vids I hope u never run out of ideas...Maybe you could freeze a few of the water jugs and shoot em up ..just something else to try ...

  • Great test and review!

  • Nice video man

  • Sorry for the stupid question, but will those work in a 1911?

  • @Tux3d0 He was using them in a 1911.

  • @Roland0314 Ohhh i commented before watching vid because I am letting it load sorry ... :{

  • Lol, any questions? Got to love your style! Great demonstration and thanks for all the work. I EDC a Glock 30sf and have considered those for hiking/farm snake carry.

  • Id rather be hit by a normal bullet than the shot shell... even if the results arent as dramatic, whoever you shoot will be crying like a bitch lol.

  • @Roland0314

So you'd rather die than dig some bird shot out of your skin?

  • @Skiier2008 That bird shot would go about an inch in. One bullet wouldn't kill you unless it hit you in the right spot.

  • @Roland0314

It wouldn't even go an inch through clothing.

  • @Roland0314

Okay, you stand 25 paces away from me, you take a center mass shot at me with a shot shell, and i'll take a center mass shot with a standard .45 load. I think I'd still be standing, not so sure about you.

  • The tennesee foam snake is nothing compared to the Arkansas garden hose snake i shot yesterday. SOME people were upset, but i laughed.

  • "this" is your intruder on CCI Shot Shell... "THIS" is your intruder on 230 gr. Spear Gold Dot!!!

  • Dam those foam snakes.

  • Excellent demonstration. I bet the effect on ballistic gel would have been even wimpier.

  • @TheMotorick

Agreed, more than likely regarding gel. Given these velocities and size of the projectile, maybe an inch or so pentration. I could not justify adding more hours to the production process for the video when the outcome should be quite obvious.

  • @tnoutdoors9 awesome test thanks for the video and the tests

  • im ganna go with the cci rounds for slf defence instead of thos girl scout gold dot rounds......

  • out standing sir yes as self defence the subject is quite fatty.....but any way can we try or have you tried jellow in milk jugs??

  • hahahaha any questions?

  • It is against the law to kill foam snakes in Tennessee!

  • Great Review. Im Glad the lizard got away :)

  • @Brandon401401 I bet he shot him after the camera was turned off :)

  • Hey I don't see why it couldn't be used for self defense. It could cause some serious bruising or possibly even break the skin! It still looks like a viable option to me.

  • I HAVE THAT GUN!

  • Informative ahd funny, what more could I ask for.

    Keep it up.

  • Those foam snakes seem like a nuisance.

  • I have some for my .44 Mag and can't wait to try them out!

  • Those square foam snakes are wicked... luckily we don't have them in the west. But we do have the nasty rubber door trim vipers... sneaky bastards.

  • @jeffshootsstuff

They are related! I've seem all of them hanging out together in the same aisle at Lowes.

  • @tnoutdoors9 you think that's bad?! You should see our Puertorican robotic lions!

  • @tnoutdoors9 I hope they are secured during the night - we wouldn't want those 2 species reproducing...lol

  • Very visual demonstration and very informative. I would never have thought about using a shot shell in a 1911. I think if I was that close to a snake, I would prefer a hoe and garden rake to keep it off me and exit stage left than trying to use hardball in a stress situation. Biggest snake danger is Ky is stepping over a log without seeing what is already there. Snakes strike defensively. Cottonmouth here are the most angry and charging type.

  • Nice review bro, very informative

  • great vid. thanks

  • Lol, "any questions!?" Good video. Very informative ammo reviews.

  • I still think it may be practical in a sort of "less lethal" manner.

  • @joe735 That sounds like a lawsuit Ready to happen.

  • @FAZER00432

Agreed, but also expect to be sued for "wrongful death" in a civil suit if there is a fatality....even if the grand jury and DA determines your actions are justifiable. Somebody's family will make that effort to get a ride on the gravy train, even though their "little boy" was a menace to society. There will be enough sympathizers on a jury to possibly make it happen and turn your life into a living hell. This is the risk we accept as permit carriers.

  • @joe735

Ask yourself.....will the bad guy be carrying these? Will the bad guy have the mindset of "less lethal'? The bad guy's advantage is choosing the time and place; element of surprise. I'm not interested in giving them any more advantages.

  • As usual ............. excellent review.

  • Doesn't the 45ACP head space on the case mouth? If so, that curve on the CCI where the case mouth/cannelure would otherwise be, gives me some pause on consistently getting the gun into battery.

  • @heyerstandards

I would assume that CCI considered that in the design process. That could be an issue for specific firearms, although I'm thinking the low power factor could be more of a contributor to cycling issues. Obviously, because this cycled in the Colt Govt does not insure that it would cycle in the Colt Commander, etc., and other .45's. As I mentioned in the video, it had cycled for me in the Glock 21 and 30.

  • Nope...No questions. That pretty much sums it up!!

  • interesting!!!

  • I'm interested in sending ammo for you to test.. how do I go about doing it? Love the way you go about it, keep it up!

  • @Grandthumb

I appreciate the offer, but I cannot manage the overwhelming donation requests. I'm doing good to post 3 or 4 tests per month. Since using SIM-TEST a few months ago, there have been over 100 offers. At that rate, it would take a few years to get through the matrix. EVERYONE would be waiting a long time to see the results from their investment.

  • You should borrow hickok45's taurus judge and debunk all the people thinking .410 is a good self defense round.

  • @MrGreenJelly

Good point. Without even trying the .410, I would expect the results to be similar.

  • lol.."any questions"

  • I am kinda surprised that it cycled. Next time I'm charged by a herd of snakes, I'll know that I can depend on my 1911 with CCI Shotshells.

  • @MrJoey450

I was holding my breath. However, after shooting the Glocks in .45 ACP, the Colt slide just seems to move better. The shotshells are considerably lower powered than even FMJ used for practice. The cartridge I broke open to show the pellets? When I fired it off-camera, it wasn't as loud as an air rifle.

  • great video!

  • awesome mini-shotgun

  • Great information !

  • Wow thats a good am mount of pellets, and they are bigger than I thought they would be.

  • "Any questions" I almost pissed myself laughing!

  • Nice
