  • awesome..so skilled

  • aanyone else noticed cards disappeared from the table at 5:29. so there is edting in the show

  • if the bottom was sealt, where the can of wine came from?

  • I wonder if the magican lies just to go to vegas hahaha

  • its weird that theres no bad preformers in the show at all.

  • @gnulen get edited out

  • They obviously had a debate off screen to see what trick they were figuring out and the rules in which penn and teller can call a fake on. You see in a later episode Penn say that they have had many discussions with the producers on what they can and can not say is fooling them. I remember the guy you duck taped his partners head did a very obvious fient Showing a deck swap but the trick was done earlier. However the deck swap was so overt they couldn't not call it out.

  • 3:11, watch closely you can see him take off the K on top of the 7 and bring it under the deck

  • What's pencil reading?

  • @ThisSentenceIsFalse noticing how they move the pencil, so they can understand what you are writing. like he wrote a big number 4 and the letter C.he could have noticed how he moved the pen.

  • @ThisSentenceIsFalse guessing what they wrote from watching their pencil?

  • can`t they just lay?

  • He actually did fool them. In response to reddit questions Penn admitted they were completely fooled by him.

  • watch at 3:10 ... right before he says 'very slowly' you can see him pull the card with his right hand off the watch and put it behind the deck...

  • @MrAureliusR Good eye.

  • All the contestants have to show the production team how it is done before the performance the voice in Jonathan ross' ear will tell him if p+t have got it

  • I think they should be required to tell the true secret to P&T, backstage after the show just so they can be sure the magician didn't lie them in the face just to get a freebie trip to vegas..

  • Honestly, I think they guessed it and the magician is just a liar. Doesn't he looked panicked at 5:52? And the way he was so quick to say it wasn't a "stack" makes me think that's exactly what it was.

  • @AnticScarab3 He can't lie. The magicians are required to show the producers how the trick is done.

  • Why is Take Five being played?

  • @Excaliza probaly because it's a great song.....take 5 is also a clue to the trick...take 5 cards....

  • @ztztzyzy I agree, it is a great song :D and I never noticed the 5 card thing lol

  • @Excaliza yep, Dave Brubeck.... see if you can find (i have it on my ipod) Tito Puente's version, upbeat tempo, in mambo style. quite good.

  • Comment removed

  • As soon as I heard Take Five in the beginning, I know this guy would be good.

  • Good camera trick, one second a spread is clearly visable, the next, gone!

  • noone realized the weight but on top of the cards on the paper, carbon pencil, leves deep marks, with enough pressure itll in deck the bottom cards then its just running you fingers over it.

  • @incinerator1016 That's an interesting theory.

  • @incinerator1016 Just a theory

  • @incinerator1016 In addition, I think the bottom "card" in the stack on top of the paper, i.e. the card just above the paper, is actually a piece of white clay, or other soft material.

This will make the whole thing very easy.

  • Anyone else notice at 3:12 he takes the card from under his watch with his hand holding the full deck, so the card with tellers signature on it was under that one...

  • dude reminds me of Morrissey

  • He lied. I win.

  • Theory 2 continued: (Cold Beer) - also has a tiny camera underneath, its possible because of its concave bottom

  • Theory 1:

(The Pen) - is a recorder pen that tracks the writing strokes that penn makes

(The Cellphone) - receives the pen signals, sends another signal to a device on the magician (The Watch) and gives him translate the signal to a series of vibrations or form of image (hands on the watch) to indicate the card to the magician

    Theory 2:

(The Paper) - is a special designed, which becomes see-through when the temperature drops to a certain amount

(The Cold Beer) - drops the temperature

  • 3.12 you can see the card swap behind the spred of cards

  • slippery gypsy he is

  • This is the routine that won the 3rd prize in FISM 2003?

  • Sorry but you people are brainwashed.

You guys are too gullible, remember to always question and trust nobody.

Answer is at 1:54 up penn's sleeve...

P&T are in on it fools..

  • @alenich79 If they were in on it, they probably would have known how it was done.

  • @alenich79 ...That's Etienne's sleeve, not Penn's.

Also, I have no idea how he did it, but I did catch him doing a switch at 3:11

  • @alenich79 You cant be serious? :P They are not in on the trick, they do this show because they wanna be fooled.

  • @alenich79 are you normal, penn and teller are in on it,how could you even think or suggest such a stupid theory, how old are you kid, snap the fuck on up out of it fool..

  • he transfers the ink onto the bottle with the tape

  • Comment removed

  • There must be a gadget in the can that can read the ink and send something to his phone. Or alternatively the revealed card is some kind of OLED screen.

  • not smoke steam wtf am i on about

  • the main trick is smoke and he just filled in the rest with other stuff

  • i hink the trick is smoke but i cant remember who by the begining is exactly the same

  • He had the part of the deck where he showed Penn memorized. Pen could only see 8-13 cards. If he knew the locations all he had to do was look RIGHT at Penn's eyes and see which card he was looking at and 'memorizing' before writing it down. Because Penn didn't know he was writing it down. If you notice Penn Changed his mind and Etienne saw it. All he had to do when closing the deck was to flip the card over and the trick was set to play find the seven until reveal.

  • @KuchKuto Etienne isn't even lookin Penn in the eyes when he holds the deck up for Penn................

  • 1 person got fooled

  • Cool trick, LIke the mind reading and the Card in the bottle. Unfortunate i dont know the secret lol

  • It's not pencil reading, it's _crayon_ reading! He's French, after all

  • couldnt he just lie and say he wasnt using it?

  • @CrazzedShinobi he fooled them ?

  • @jonty581 ya

  • Comment removed

  • You can see he isn't pencil reading unless his eyes are pointing to the right, TO THE MAX. Unless his distraction to Teller is for him to keep his eyes on the deck while he looks at Penn, but still, Penn writes while Etienne walks over to Teller so it still gives Teller the chance to look at Etienne's eyes before his attention is drawn to the deck... if that makes any sense.

Teller would notice Etienne's eyes I think, before Etienne offers him the deck.

  • the wine is called "le coq"

  • burn the witch

  • 1 person has a normal deck of 79 cahds.

  • The only thing stupid about this is that he could be lying saying its not pencil reading just so he looks good and can go to las vegas or wherever.

  • @evoterry The producer is a magician and they have to tell him how they did the trick before they perform. He tells Ross in his earpiece if Penn and Teller are correct. What the magician says doesn't matter. It's all explained in the pilot episode.

  • 3:11 you can see the swap when his watch is facing away

  • @TOTALLYsup

    I saw it to.

  • WHO PICKED UP THE CARDS AT 5:32?!

    IM LOSING MY MIND!

  • @TehRakblad they're all a bunch of magicians...

  • What was up with the things he placed upon the prediction?

  • @Peyoutreaux Some Fool Us videos have been edited to hide the magic moment. This may be one of those incidences. Regardless, super trick and congrats to Etienne.

  • take 5

  • Those were the best cards tricks I have seen on this show!

  • @SamGlover25

but did you know how it was done??

  • That guy reminds me of all the French comedians I hate. he's vulgar in his expressions (accent aside) and the way he presents the trick and his personality. He's not a lovable character for sure

  • @LeoElso That's the French for you.

  • @LeoElso

He doesn't say 'please' and 'thank you'

  • This trick is insanely dull. No offence mate, but I'm a sort of magician, and this did not hold my attention at all.

  • i could see the change in the second trick

  • So how does he get the card in the bottle

  • 3:11 what the hell kinda trick was that!

  • HERE HOW IT IS DONE! 1:45 how can there be pencil reading if he is not even looking at Penn's hand? I know how the trick is done and it is pretty simple. Strange that P&T don't know! :) There are special eye lens which can see certain invisible chemicals not seen with a simple eye. I know this from one episode from CSI Miam/LA/NY. Cheap but effective trick. Also how can you make this trick with stacking cards?

  • @LucaTurilli89 If that actually exists, then the Trick is indeed quite simple.

I also love guys sleight of hand, very nice

  • @MrTritratralla this trick could make you millionaire if you ask me. Someone just needs to mark the cards before dealing and you can see who has what and this equals $ in a high stakes poker game =).

  • @LucaTurilli89 It is pretty tough to cheat in high stakes poker games, since they usually use dealers and also because players have a very keen sense for those kinds of things, so it might not be the best place to use such moves

  • @MrTritratralla but this method involves only looking dude :)! That's the point. No big deal a kid can do it :P.

  • Seriously people? how could the paper have copied it on to the card? Penn wrote "4C" it couldn't have copied an entire card from that!

  • can someone give me the name of the song at 0:03

  • @mrsandmanxj9 Take Five played by The Drave Brubeck Quartet, written by alto soloist Paul Desmond.

  • @mrsandmanxj9

    Take 5

  • yeah the bottom card that was touching the black paper is definitely not a real card! has nothing on it whatsoever, blank pure white!

That card tells him the writing as he purposely weighs the deck down with that drink and the phone!

    2:50

  • It couldn't have been pencil reading anyway because he was looking at Teller when Penn was writing

  • How did he get the card in the bottle?

  • You can see the watch card switch easy as fuck... fail

  • What is the name of the song at the beginning?

  • @pmorin13 That's "Take Five" by the Dave Brubeck Quartett...

  • this show is cut awfully ...

at 3:07 the round box is placed with the white border at the bottom - then the guy does his card trick... at 3:22 there's a cut to the full and the white border of the round box is at the top... when did he turn it around??

  • does anyone realize that the cards disappear at 5:36?

    Thumbs up so everyone knows.

  • @xSwiftGAM3Rx Lol, Great eye! The world of editing.

  • @xSwiftGAM3Rx at 5:29 he leans forwards and is picking up the cards. The video is edited in realtime to cut back slightly such that 5:31 they are still there. Either that or a magical elf stole the cards without anyone even noticing :)

  • @eddiedeath why would he pick up the card's?

  • Anyone know how he got it in the bottle?

  • At 3:11 he takes a card behind the deck

  • @Huhwhoa yeah that one was a beginners trick. You can even see the card moving behind the spread deck.

  • Lol i think i got the trick, the card he first put under his watch, was the first one in the deck of cards laying on the envelope thingy, basicaly the envelope thingy was made out of some sort of copy paper, when the chosen card was writen on it you can see it was folded so that where he wrote what card it was, was directly underneath the stack, than as a part of the trick he weighted it down and the copy paper did the magic, than he checked the lowest card by puting it under the watch. Perhaps?

  • They never give them long enough to answer... it was a complex trick.

  • the magicians have to show their trick in full to another magician beforehand, forget his name, so they can get called out if they lie to penn & teller.

  • @AlakaX I believe his name was Johnny Thompson

  • If you look closely at 2:53, the bottom card is blank (I think). Anyways, judging by how weird the little thing Penn had to write on is, I bet it was magnetic and recorded what was on there. That's why he had to write in the square. Then the bottom card which was right on top was magnetic and copied what was on there. Then he did the watch thing, because it's actually a reader, so when everyone is looking at the 7 of spades, he's actually looking at what Penn's card is on his watch.

  • @wygram - As the Insane Clown Posse pointed out, replacing the word "magic" with the word "magnetic" doesn't really explain anything. ;-) By the way, look at the bottom card at 1:55.

  • 3:10 he switches the card behind the deck

  • i too tought of the four of clubs, due to three being to predictable O.o

  • When he said watch my hand.. "very slowly" like music siah xD

  • "A lot of people say i came for the food...maybe. Maybe not."

    Ahahahahahahaaaa, food. England. Ha...no.

Does anyone else feel stupid for being most impressed and confounded by the Teller card in the bottle trick? o.O

  • @proprodigySD I believe it's more or less an off the shelf trick, you can learn it yourself if you know where to look. I don't know how it's done exactly, but I've seen it a few times before. Also 3:28 "Sealed from here, sealed from here" (indicating to the cylinder), that's obviously not true. Remember where the anglish wine came from

  • what stops him lying about how he did it?

  • @rolopolo66 There's a skilled magician (Johnny Thompson) in the back who Etienne already explained the trick to. He's the one who makes sure everyone (Penn and Teller included!) plays fair.

  • @thepatcat Yeah, except you could lie to him, so then when they guess he's actually covering for the magician.

  • @wygram No, the magicians have to show and demonstrate the trick in full.

  • I think this must have something to do with the phone.

  • @pheonix1018 its called using a 'shiner' its been around for years, any reflective surface will do. plus the phone was the only thing on the table not directly used in the trick therefore (in magicians logic) it was the most important part of the trick. well spotted, give it a try.

  • You sould see Etienne perform 'Splash bottle' hilarious....

  • Who picked up the spread out deck of cards at 5:32? Penn picks up the paper he wrote on and the cards are there then they go to the magician and back to a full view and the cards are gone... Thats magic!!

  • @eviltig Someone pointed that out but I honestly think that is just T.V editing because the trick took too long. I don't think the editing had anything to do with the trick because I know for a fact that P&T are NOT in on the tricks. They are legit in trying to be fooled.

  • @kalloused I think your right.

  • a can of anglish wine. ahuhuhuhuhuh.

  • 4:48 Smiley Face :)

  • @nozzabubble Lol, They only contact famous magicians ;p

  • when you turn your hand round at around 3 12, you can clearly see the switch :)

  • @nozzabubble You have to be French

  • awesome performance...

i dont know why they saying magical term in front of lay ppl stack readin etc:?

  • notice how old wossy had no problem saying the r in pradier lol

  • SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!! SPOILER ALLERT!!

penn has to put a card deck on top of the envoloppe, a can of "wine" and even a phone... thats a lot for just to seal it right? (think about it)

  • @j0nayblade doesnt even make sense dude.

  • There is no trick... it is real magic.

  • Really cool tricks :). Though I think the camera, with a different angle than the audience, did show you switching the card under the watch right?

Of course everything else is a mystery for me and I really enjoy it a lot:)

  • beautiful.....
