Wow. This song is so perfect. Hughes was just a normal man surounded by people with godlike powers, and yet he stood amongest the best of them and died trying to do what he could to improve his world no matter the cost. Now please excuse me while i go curl into a ball and cry my eyeballs out.

Hughes always did have a habbit of getting himself in over his head. His wife actually says that on the show haha. It was the saddest death on any show I'd ever seen when he died. But the death made him such a more profound character. So its not really a bad thing. But still, the saddest tv death ever.

@AmyChan4ever Because in alot of ways , Maes was the humanity of the series . His death is the turning point-the point of no return for the Elrics `though they don`t actually learn of it until some time after the fact . After his death , the other characters begin acting less like anime characters and more like actual human beings ( for the most part ) .
