I think showing the riots in this video, shows that we are human. We make mistakes, and react on our emotions like any normal person would. Do I necessarily agree with the violence that it lead to; no. But I feel that we shouldnt hide what really happened here, all of it. Hiding is what got us in this mess in the first place.
I find this video to be very moving and very incredible the way it is.
"My God is bigger than a legend, bigger than a town, a university, a scandal. He's big enough to mend broken hearts, heal shattered lives, forgive, and handle your whys and doubts. He isn't shaken, He isn't surprised, and He's never caught off guard. He loves children; He loves the aged. He holds the broken, comforts the crying, and can bring beautiful things out of the worst circumstances."
I have not stopped crying and praying for all of you ...... first the unspeakable wrongs that were done, but now the unspeakable wrongs seen in comments of misdirected hate. They know not what they do. I stand with you now and forever. And yes, I will continue to hire PSU grads, Some of the best ever. Proud of you for standing up.
Powerful video! I will respectfully disagree with some of the comments by debinhv and rgm5079. As I heard someone say this weekend, "We are a city of both riots and prayer vigils...." and while only a few riot, I think that statement is true. I think that the creator of the video wanted to show the juxtaposition between different reactions and what's happening in this town- the whole picture. Regardless the message is a powerful one - one of hope of what is to come. Prayers for everyone.
Gotta say I agree with rgm about the riot scenes. This could be a completely incredible video with more vigil scenes and no riot shots. We need to show the country that we are still Penn State Proud and unfortunately the rioting only served to further inflame a huge percentage of the population. I'm a blue and white bleeding alum, PSU employee and parent to 2 more alums and 1 future alum. I LOVE PSU and hurt so badly for the way we are being portrayed right now.
The only thing I don't like about this video is that they keep showing riot footage between everything else. As we are trying to rid ourselves of that awful image that only included a handful of destructive people, I don't think it should be associated with the vigil and all the other positive things we've been doing. Other than that, a wonderful video. I'll always love Penn State, and we're committed to making things right with the victims as we get through these awful times. God bless PSU.
A beautiful reminder that this is still Happy Valley. We are more than this scandal; we are more than Joe Paterno and definitely more than Jerry Sandusky. We are Penn State!
Everyone who is ready to post insensitive and moronic Anti-Penn State comments, just save it for some one who cares. We mourn for the victims more than any non Penn Stater can imagine.
