  • This is so funny - I can spot myself sitting in the audience, just from the back, but I know it is me. Cool!

  • @Petra1701 I am SO jealous!! Which one are you??

  • @HuhHahDK

I'm only visible from the back...

I sit in the front row on the left side in the picture, the girl with long ginger hair.

  • @Petra1701 That's incredible! WOW!! How lucky you were!

Maybe you would know this, then..........Like previous commenters on this video have said, Wolfgang and Louis magically switch places at 1:38. I've always wondered why- my only theory is that they gave more than one performance that day, and parts of both were combined to make that clip. Did they in fact perform more than once? You're in both parts, with Wolfgang on the left AND on the right, so that does make some sense-

  • @HuhHahDK I never noticed this ...oops.

I can tell you this: There was only one performance in the TV show, but they did a couple of run-throughs in the dress rehearsal in the afternoon. It is possible that a glitch would have been covered with material recorded in the rehearsal, but I would have been sitting in a different seat. I don't remember where exactly I sat during the rehearsal, this was over 30 years ago! But it was pretty empty for the rehearsal.

  • @Petra1701 and @HuhHahDK - I studied this switch, and it just hit me, they used the ending portion of the video twice. I realized it when the segment at 1:37 is identical to the part at 2:25, so it's all from the same actual performance...

  • @MladaOfHamelin That's IT! You figured it out! Now that you mention it, you can see Louis getting into position on the left and Wolfgang on the right at 2:25, as you say...........

That has driven me crazy for a LONG time now- thank you for solving that!!

  • @HuhHahDK No problemo...I about didn't figure it out myself until I recognized the particular move they did at 2:30 (which actually still makes me laugh a little inside upon seeing it).

  • Do Germans know English better than the English and their former colonies (United States, Canada, and Australia) know German?

Do the lyrics really speak of the brotherhood of man?

And what happened to the bald guy?

  • @Over9000Wolf 1. Generally yes, 2. Pretty much, 3. He left due to back pain in 1981, and has since died of cancer in 2006. :<

  • Vi los Simpson, dale ¡enfermo!

  • @jelirestri Spanish Buffalax FTW-

  • i love dschinghis khan but my favorite is wolfgang!! <3

  • true ... x_x there were some cuts in the video... But the song is very nice, Hurra for Dschinghis Khan :-D

  • There's something odd going on with the editing after the second verse -- first Wolfgang is next to Henriette, and in the next frame he's all the way at the other end, and Louis is next to Henrriette.

    MAGIC!!

  • You´re right! I didn´t notice that before. What happend? Must be magic :D

  • It's true!!

    1:53

  • He's back on the other side again at the end of that chorus. I guess they had to do a retake of that part? (Also, Wolfgang at 0:07 <3 ...I just can't get over how adorable they all are!)

  • @romulanprincess See that? Now Louis is breaking the laws of space and time to get next to Henriette!

  • awesome.... I love Dschinghis khan!!!!

  • Amongst those long-haired people, where did the bald guy go?

  • Left because of back problems in the early 80's

  • Love it! It´s stuck in my head.

  • I need it

  • Yes it´s great.

  • LOve IT !!!!!!!!!

  • We are all in the same boat.

  • Can someone who knows German tell me what this song is about?

  • The song makes a lot of cultural references on how we're all together in the same boat, and how the things in History bind us together.

From Cæsar with Cleopatra, to Genghis Khan, who had made three children, and Napoleon's Waterloo, and that on Earth lives a billion people: one of them is you. How the urbanite dreams of being a farmer, how a farmer dreams of being a urbanite, etc. Why they sing in German, even though English will be better understood in Germany someday. Etc. A lot of things.

  • @SomeLazyDr What they're actually singing is 'We're singing in German, even though people here prefer to understand English nowadays.' Huge difference - English is considered to be cool, that's why anglicisms are very widely used. The average command of English, however, isn't all that great - if anything, it deteriorates.

  • @gidolf Thank you for clarifying that for me. I've been learning German for the last five years and I'm still learning the nuances :p.
