  • The cat is the star of this video lol

  • A Brit with a real rifle - you must be from Manchester (Moss Side).

  • @Twirlyhead nope im in the Midlands

  • hes jumpy

  • @stefinoization

    google essential tremor

  • @jubbles2343 Google "benzodiazepine"

Also, begin a sentence with a capital letter and end it with a punctuation mark.

  • @McShaggswell According to wikipedia it "Benzodiazepines enhance the effect of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which results in sedative, hypnotic (sleep-inducing), anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant and amnesic action."

I'd prefer to shake and be active than a sleepy sedated person.

  • dude calm the fuck down youre not on trial just relax

  • @stefinoization google essential tremor

  • nice one, Is she for sale?

  • Wonder you are still allowed to own these , british gov has gone crazy

  • @georgewashington92 says a member of the nation thats gov't lets millions of mexicans in

  • @jubbles2343 says a member of the nation that noone not even mexicans want to go to

  • @ukuleledays we both know that the reason their not here is distance

  • nice rifle you british mother fucker

  • Thanks for the video. I need to do a more thorough cleaning on the one I inherited but the video gives me a place to start. Btw: thanks, also, for the shot of your cat crapping in your yard.

  • Hey buddy,Max has just crapped in your flower bed.

  • The other day I was pulling it through and when I pulled all the wire the patch had come off inside the barrel. I scared the **** out of me but I managed to get it out finally. I thought I had lost the rifle there :(

  • hu jubbles, i am having trouble Disasembling my Deactivated Lee Enfield, could i talk me through the taking out of the bolt?

  • @jj18411 Method of bolt removal is dependent on manufacturer, Canadian (Long branch) and US (Savage) No4 rifles- lift bolt handle and pull back about 2 CM, lift bolt head into upright position and withdraw from rifle. ( reverse to reinstall bolt) British made Enfields lift bolt and withdraw until back of bolt draw, depress small "button" on bolt head carrier runner, then lift bolt head to upward position and withdraw bolt. (reverse to reinstall)

  • @jj18411 see above post.

  • wow my old .303 is in such bad shape when i got it, everybody else's is in great shape, i think mine saw service in world war 2!

  • What number is on your bolt head? 1/2/3?

  • @MrCvjetko What do those numbers mean?

  • Hey thnkx for the vid what kind of cleaning wire aru using? brand ?

    kind regards from the netherlands

    proud no4 mk2 owner

  • Nice cat.

  • Great video, thanks for posting. I am wanting to buy a Lee-Enfield, and your videos are very informative and helpful.

  • Fuck Off Max !!!

  • 这些老外,挺有意思的

  • @wozaishouxian I'm sorry but I do not speak or read this language, perhaps try English.

  • @jubbles2343 he said: These foreigners, very interesting

  • @MrTuber4000 A chinese person calling me foreign! the dirty fucker.

  • Haha, I remember showing my UNCLE of all people how to put the bolt back in. Him in his 40s and me at the age of like, 12.

  • bugger off, cat!

  • How do you get the patches coming out white? I'd go though half a bottle of Hoppes 9 solvent and half a t-shirt's worth of patches down my No.4 Mk.I and they still come out dark grey.

  • Thank you a lot, very useful video! Now I would like to buy a Lee Enfield like yours!

    Regards

  • Very good video. Just picked up a Number 4 MK 2 myself for $240. Very pleased with it. Thanks man

  • @AirboatMan01 How'd you get one for 240? All I can find are ones for 450

  • @mgallmachine I picked one up recently at a pawn shop for 250 so the deals are out there just right place right time

  • Very good video. Just picked up a Number 4 MK 2 myself for $240. Very pleased with it. Thanks man

  • Anybody notice the cat taking a dump in the flowerbed at the beginning?

  • Buying an Enfield soon, found your video very informative

    Cheers.

  • Any tips for removing a stuck magazine? Mine will not come out.

  • Your rifle looks brand new did you re-blue it and refinish the wood? I just bought a no4 mk1 and it looks its age and then some.

  • Hey jubbles could you please help me with my Enfield? I took the bolt out to clean it and I can't get the bolt to go back down after I put it back in. In other words, I can't push the bolt down into firing position again. Can someone please help me? Thanks.

  • @Citadel20 remove the bolt and rotate the front bolt piece in a clockwise motion until it can move no further, then twist so it will fall in line with the rest of the bolt and can be placed back into the rifle.

  • nice video. just bought a no.4 mk.1 Long Branch.

  • hahaha awww the cat :]

  • What type of metal is on the Lee-Enfield?

  • @TaZ101SAGA steel and brass

  • What should i use to lubricate the bolt? The oil on its been on it for god knows how long, so i want to remove it and put some new cleaner lubricant on it. What product do you suggest i use?

  • @TaZ101SAGA Otis 085 Ultra Bore

  • @jubbles2343 Is that widely available and what kind of price?

  • @TaZ101SAGA highly available unsure at what prices

  • @TaZ101SAGA i found one susplyer online for about 300 american

  • lol at your cat poopin' in background in the beginning of the video.

  • Man, are you shaking because of nervousness in this video? Do you have Social Anxiety or something? Your voice also sounds jittery.

  • @TheMeanSgtPlaysPiano i shake because for some reason my hands shake, no idea why they do it but its a 24/7 thing, can't see why I would be nervous infront of a camera on my own lol, was a bit chilly but thats all

  • you need a voice over.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrPA2009 unsure, I do not think so, I think it suggests some usage of corrosive ammunition, however im no expert and suggest you find someone who is, or alternatively shoot it and if it shoots well keep it :)

  • What is the best motion to use when ramming the bolt home?

  • Nice I'm hoping to get one of these (as a starting rifle, because I love it!), I was under the impression you couldn't buy them new any more but, yours looks pretty new. Please Message me back with a little info, I would appreciate it, as I'd like to know what I'm getting into before buying.

  • Can anyone buy one of these in the uk or is it a special license thing, also great and informative video. Got a no 4 mk 2 today and it's in pristine condition

  • @cokeman2423 anyone can get one so long as they have the licence

  • Very helpful mate. I've just gotten a No 1 Mk 3 myself (different rifle of course I know but largely similar as far as cleaning) and being my first rifle it's quite handy to have a video like this to go by. Thanks :-).

  • great rifles, just got one. good vid

  • We finally met Max :D

  • Hey jubbles, couple of things: The patches that fell on the floor go in the bin. And I'm hoping the pull through wire is coated as the angle you exert at the muzzle will destroy any remaining accuracy that rifle has. It's a beautiful gun. What kind of accuracy do you get from it with those irons?

  • 6inch group at 300yds, the patches that go on the nice clean floor go through the dirty barrel.

  • I don't get it... I was under the impression from the title of this video that you were going to strip the rifle, not just take out the bolt...

  • sorry mate, this is all you ever really need to do on this rifle. my apologies however.

  • hey bud, i got my enfield stock back the gunsmith...he was able to repair the cracks and splinters. So i started refurbing it it today. So far i got it puttied , sanded, and coat of stain on it...im having an issue with the putty though...it was lighter than the wood so its a pain in the ass to get it to blend in. I had to putty it because of so many cracks and dents it had...ive never had a stock this bad before.

  • aayup mate, am glad he fixed it for you but it seems a damn shame you've had to go through this. email me some pictures of it

  • whats your email address and i will send u pics??...damn coldweather out here....im just barely puting on the coats of finishing oil over the stain..its so cold in my garage the stain was taking forever to dry..

  • Do you know what's the longest scope sight shot with the lee enfield?

  • umm...no....please enlighten me

  • Why ya think i'm asking you. You're up on the soap box.

  • hey jubbles, i received my enfield stock today that i got on ebay...I was rather upset for the money i paid. The lower portion of the stock had a crack going through the trigger area and it was splintering falling apart...one of the upper handguards was also damaged...the bloody seller didnt describe the damage at all....i took it to my gunsmith today and hopefully he can restore it...not a good way to start off with my rifle...

  • thats a damn shame, I would send it back and get your money back from the dealer, I can link you to a couple wood sets that look very nice if you want

  • well, i already took it to local gunsmith for repair, so i guess im just gonna wait on feedback from him on whether its still usable...I did send that asshole on ebay an angry email leting him know his merchandise is shit and he needs to be more descriptive with his items..im positive my gunsmith can fix it...he's and old bloke thats been in the bussiness longer than ive been alive so its just a matter of how much is he gonna charge me.

  • I live in Texas and I find some good conditioned rifles for about 230-250 but then expect some high taxes. If u live in texas i would suggest looking around at Collectors Firearms if u got one near u! great rifles great prices haha :D hope this helps :D thanks for the field stripping video!

  • In the United States, I got mine for $250, but I seen the sniper variants going for up to $500 or so.

  • Can range anywhere from $125-$300 on average.. Unless the rifle is in Mint condition, I wouldn't pay more than $500-600. It just depends on if you find a deal or not, a guy I know got one in excellent condition for $60... so yeah.

  • The British Empire spanned the globe when that rifle was in service a tribute to the ausome legacy of this weapin. It has a perfect weight, smooth bolt action, lovley trigger. Amazing

  • in this condition and model - £400 to £550

  • im trying to make one as a softgun with a spring. maybe you can help me a bit? if you got nothing else to do, so please take your no 4 and gauge how thick and how high it is at the butt, at the trigger and at the front. that would help me a lot.

    sorry for my bad english...

  • @1993heavenshallburn no i cant as i am currently away, use wikipedia

  • I plan on buying that rifle for 195.

  • dont you love the way that cats upstage humans? I thought that Max walking into shot behind you and having a pee (1:56) was a bit much though.... Nice vid and very tidy No4.

  • he tooks a shit, fucking cat is sat next to me right now purring his head off

  • i like this rifle man

  • Do you also know how to strip the maga zine out, to clean the "w" spring ?

Nice rifle by the way, i am very envious, i trained on these in the Army Cadets in the 70's

  • yup il do a vid in abit

  • omg the kitty.. adorable. :)

  • LIES LIES LIES.. i read stripping and was totally unimpressed.. ur clothes were still on. :( ur slave is not impressed.

  • Good vid Mate! Nice to see someone who takes the time to CLEAN their rifle properly!

  • I love the Enfield, it's my favorite rifle. I like it more than the M1

  • the one kind of enfield you stay away from are the santa fe arms they are very well known for reciever cracking

  • Why are you shaking so much? Bit chilly out there? :P

  • Great Video. Am gonig to definitly get one. Funny when the cat comes.

  • really interesting, and indeed nice kitty.

  • Shouldn't you have shown you unhooking the bolt from the catch?

Not even sure if that is a feature on this version of the Lee Enfield but it would make sense.

  • he shows it right at the beginning.

  • it would be good to see a vid of how to use the sights.

    max the kitty is cute!

  • Just been gifted one of these from my Dad in Law not sure which model, think it has been modified to a sporter, seen a few in NZ with the rear sight switched out for apperture sight similar to the M1 Garand General consensus is that there too cumbersome for the bush here. Have not got it yet but can't wait to get it out for a crack! Do you use factory load or load your own? I would have thought you should put a brush through it a few times to get the crud out of the rifling?

  • I handload the brass from the factory ammo, and yeah I brass brush it aswell.

  • A cat and a gun, two thing everyone should have..;

  • Video is ok - I like Max :) It does actually say in the Lee Enfield maintenance manual that if the rifle is to be STORED then the bore should be coated with a thin oil.

  • I put the oil on after shooting and remove it before shooting, even if I dont it makes no difference

  • not being mean but....

why would you see oil in the barrel unless you want it to catch fire when you fire it?

  • you put oil in the barrel to prevent exposure to the air this prevents reactions taking place and maintains or improves the barrels condition

  • *shrugs* i was always told that if you put oil in the barrel or on the pin or in the breech you were a fool.

  • told by who?

  • my mate who is a cadet instructor

  • I always leave a light coating of oil in the barrel on my guns, not too much or it will seep into the wood and damage it. You can get pressure problems if there is too much in the bore, so I often run a patch through my gun before I shoot it so the bore is dry.

  • Haha, cats...

This video is educational and entertaining.

If anyone in the U.S. wants one of these rifles you can find one at almost any gunstore or Big 5.

  • would it be a good beginner rifle?

  • Yeah, they're rugged, pretty inexpensive and ammo is easy to come by.

  • thats a big one up, but ive heard the same about the mosin nagant and ive already found one for about 70 dollars.

which one do you think would be better?

  • I own and fire both. The recoil is about the same, and ammo for each costs about the same and equally as plentiful.

I like the sights of the Mosin Nagant more, but find it much more comfortable to work the bolt of the Enfield. So I'd say it's really just a matter of taste.

  • Gonna have to disagree with you, there. I've found the recoil on the Mosin to be quite a bit harsher than the Enfield.

  • this a great rifle and was my first rifle I will always love it to bits however should you get an enfield there are 2 rules you must follow. 1. Do not sporterize it! if it already is sporterized buy a new wood stock to return it to its original state.

    2. Love it and care for it more than your wife, husband children etc you get the idea basicly if the house is on fire grab the gun not the wife :-p

  • i have 2 that i am trying to get my dad to get for me and him, my grandpas, and my great uncles...theyre both sporterized, one only has the top wood taken off, and the front bottom wood taken off...my grandpas though is completely sporterized, but i really want those rifles soon, Cause There is a storm Brewing, and it smells like SHTF soon...

You really sound scared as hell that theyre comin for you or somethin in this video, nice job though

  • thanks again for posting i hadn't a clue how to release the bolt onmine when i was cleaning it last night

  • I bought a Ishapore 2A1 S.M.L.E. It needs a new stock badly. Will any S.M.L.E. stock work or do i need a the same type of stock? Where do you find replacement stocks at.

  • im not sure, you should be able to do a google search adn find what you want though

  • I saw a new stock on e-bay last year june

perhaps its still there, i got some oilers by e-bay . goodluck!!!

  • was it wrapped in that oily paper stuff, if it was it was probably unfired otherwise it may have only a few through it or maybe has been rebuilt (new stock new barrel, etc) by a british gunsmith

  • cosmoline is my friend lol

  • i doubt it was unfired as most of these rifles are surplus, is it a longbranch?

  • was in storage mate, not one bullet past through it. its Fazarchly

  • Same here and I love it.

  • being in canada these rifles are dime a dozen. there easy to find for between 75-150$. this is THE most common rifle in canada

  • Good vid....really nice LE !!!..mine's coming in a week and I got it for $95!! I'm in Canada. Max likes cleaning gun too I see.

  • Jubbles, where did you get such a rifle i would love to get my hands on one, anychance you could point me in the right direction, bring british myself what would i have to take into acoount before i get one??

  • Man, the Lee Enfield sure was beautiful, but the kitty was better !

  • Im American and I have heard about the gun ban laws of your country....Did you have to have special permission to own a gun , even a rifle??

just curious ....I like the Lee Enfield by the way they are very cheap to buy here in the States.........@ gun shows mostly ..thanks.

  • i think i sent you an email

  • Where did u get your enfield is it surplus or a remake

  • I got it from a dealer, and all the serials match, and I dont think it had ever been fired when i got it.

  • Dear Jub,

I have a SMLE and I love it. As a life long shooter I liked your vid. I like the patch+pull through. As a colonist, I love my SMLE...and my M1 Garand.

PS My cat Myron was watching Max, he took a swipe at Max.

  • Max is bad to the bone so be careful :-p

  • nice cat! )))))

  • salute the kitty!

  • Hmm, Have you ever used a Mk 3* Jubbles? It seems that removing the magazine is a little easier on a Mk 3*. But I could just be mine. Guess I will find out when I purchase my own

No.4! Gread vids mate, the Lee has to be one of the most epic rifles ever made.

  • no I havent usd a SMLE yet :-(

  • Just as I have never used a No 4. But i am planning on buying one thats in perfect condition soon.

  • i have a question

do no4 mk1s have heavy barrels? i heard they ALL did so they didn't have to be upgraded

and do they have free floating barrels?

i dont see how its possible but when mine is assembled i can wiggle the barrel inside the wood

  • I don't think they all had heavy barrels but yes they are all free floating barrels

  • =) so what i have with mine is normal then? when i wiggle the sight guard (which is on securely) its normal to feel the barrel moving in the wood? its okay?

just wanna know cuz i get worried when it comes to old firearms =/

  • same thing happens on mine, its perfectly normal

  • mmkay thank you so much =)

mine shoots really well so i was worried it was broken and id lose a vary nice rifle

thank you for clearing this up =)

  • The No#4 MK2 is so nice. I have one from 1952 I love that weapon.

  • Ah the purrfect (sorry!) video, a No4 and a daft moggy! Good stuff. :o)

I'm looking into getting a Section 1 licence and buying a No4 within the next year or so, will make my hobby of reenacting WW2 British Infantry a tad easier when it comes to battle displays, it's a bit sad with a deac that just goes "click!"

  • make sure you care for you rifle like your child! aww Max the cat is a legend.

  • dont you use any solvents for the barrel ? what types of oil do you use ?i have a No.4 mkI Savage just wondering what you use to clean the barrel thanks!

  • I use Otis 85 Ultra Bore it cleans the barrel very well by reacting with everything in it then oiling it at the same time. However I never use corrosive ammo its shit for shooting and its shit for your rifle.

  • Do you ever clean out the inside of the magazine?

  • yes, I cleaned it out really well when I got it and then lightly oiled all the metal on the inside, since then I have removed the il with a cloth once a month and applied fresh oil

  • I like your cat.

  • he's a legend :D

  • hey great vid, and greetings from the US. I just bought a No. 4 mk 1 long branch. I'm using it to go deer hunting.

  • i was takin apart my 1917 smle and i opend up the cleaning kit hole and i taped on the stock and the ww1 cleaning kit with oil and pullthrough fell out it was stuck and i never noticed it

  • really wow im gona open my one up now

  • u should do that youtube shoot that gungeek has im gonna do it im gonna use my smle

  • ok PM me about it

  • Do you have the No 4 Mk1?

  • No4 mk2, but i can tell you how to do the no4 mk 1

  • thanks dude, im going to need help.
