Dave i can't say anything about dave yet i havent seen him play thomas pridgen stuff yet so i can't say much, as for theodore dave dose a good job just keeps it simple idk if he is just getting use to the band but i feel like he needs to step it up strong to keep up with what thomas left behind.
Well they are at the end of their tour so every singer out their has those days were their voice gives out towards the end of the tour. if you guys think by replacing cedric would be better than you guys are fucking high as fuck! who would ever replace cedric, plus cedric is the mars volta next to omar. omar and cedric are more brothers than mercel which omars real brother.

His voice is clearly not what it used to be, he used to hit those high notes on command. i know, because one of the times i saw them they did play l'via live during the soad/tmv tour. I honestly feel bad for cedric, that has to be embarrassing for him live.

its a new chapter in the longgg mars volta saga, give the new dudes a chance or quit listening. from what i've heard this dude is pretty good. but u KNOW that omar wont keep him around if he aint doin his job
Thank god they god a good drummer again. I was tired of that showoff Pridgen! Just because it is more complex does not mean it is better. Thats metal head attitude and its lame. This guy is more towards the Jon Theodore style and I already like him because he plays to bring out the song more not to show off and do crazy fast fills all the time. Fuck pridgen and all you can give me 100 thumbs down if you really want. GO DAVE!

Elitch plays the base groove as loud as he possibly can and throws in elementary fills whenever the magic fill spot comes. Doing just enough for the rest of the band to make it through the song but not adding to it.
I haven't seen them with Elitch in person but the videos give the impression he has nothing to bring to the table in terms of new material.

Omar said Zach Hill was the only drummer he could riff off of, and thats how Cryptomnesia came to fruition. this guy is more in that vein than he is TP, so it seems omar got his way.
Dave is more like Jon; let's the music breathe. I liked Thomas, but it was time for a change and for the band to go in a different direction. A lot of the buildup and ambiance of the original material was lost because of Thomas' speed and frenetic style. While he sounded awesome, it kind of washed the rest of the band out. I'm excited to see how they do with Dave (assuming they keep him on for the next recording).
These performances are pretty underwhelming. I was worried about the new drummer at first (and he does have a bit catching up to do) but what's really got me down is Cedric now.
Jeremy used a lot of vocal effects with Cedric during the 2001-2002 era. 2003-2004 had a lot of emotion but vocals were hit and miss. 2005-2006 were surprisingly good. 2008 was inconsistent, and 2009 has been very solid with greater consistency.
Dave needs to be fired and replaced by the drummer of the omar group

It can't get any worse than his singing in 2002, when he mumbled and barely got any of the words out. IMO, he was the best in 2001 and 2003-2005.
