i like this ending better than the good ending because she's able to kind of let go of tidus and realize he's not there anymore but she will still always love him. Shows how powerful there luv is <3

i was not the biggest fan of this game. but i was so moved by this. by the ending to the original. i like tragic stories. and then i found the perfect ending. and i realized that i like happy endings even better. i was so glad to see them get to be together. it made this game worth the cost as well as the ridicule i received for playing it.
This ending is sad and truthful but tbh, I believe the good ending is true. The fayth bringing Tidus is not improbable--> Remember the boy fayth saying that "since tidus was touched by sin, he's more than just dreams." Ehh thats my interpretation. Plus, she really deserves happiness.
I love this ending. When she says, "you know, I'm not worried anymore." It just gets to me. She has accepted that her first love and best friend is gone and she must move on. It is the most realistic. It is right here that you can tell she truely loved him.
It is really sad....the feeling of never seeing,or you can see them,but can't even talk to them can't even touch them,but only look and tempting to touch them chat with them......and hug them like the time will never moves....It is really sad :( Yuna is poor....... :( I cried even I haven't played this......
To know that Yuna's reaction to 'seeing' him again was one of closure and peace of mind is so comforting. Having found Tidus in the Farplane after leagues of adventure that began by mistaken identity, I'm sure emotions have been affected the world round by those who happened on this ending. Yuna may move on to find another romance but that bond to Tidus will hold strong. It's a perfect craft of story line that translates to actual life situations. Truly, approve of this result.
In spite of mass negative reception to X-2's all out fan service appeal, I really appreciate how this ending has taken FFX's conclusion to an appropriate resting place. Seeing Tidus fade from reality almost immediately after solving despair in Spira, thinking Yuna was whistling for him at oceans constantly - then finally, in the few years to grow and mature in a worry free environment, she's still chasing the dream of finding him. It resonates terribly on a romantic's emotions.
I don't know if i prefer the sad or the happy ending... The first because it's sad but also beatiful knowing yuna can accept the tidus is only a dream and that she loves him forever... But the Second ending is fantastic too, because her lover return to her, so romantic...! I love them both! *w*
That is why I also think this ending to be the true one. It makes sense, when you think of all Yuna went through emotionally. Of course, being reunited with Tidus relieves her from pain. But, even if I was very happy for them when I saw the good ending, I felt like it was not "how it works"... I think the scriptwriters have been asked to give us fans what we wanted. And I wanted it too ! But now, I also feel that the story is complete and brilliant if Tidus remains "dead".
I cried many times to this, as to the ending of FFX. I had lost my beloved at the same time... That is why I analyse FFX and FFX-2 as follows : FFX is the story of how you learn to live (Tidus is warped into a world where he has to learn everything, like a child, Lulu and some others incarnating the parental advice), grow up, find love, and finally accept death. FFX-2 though- supposedly happy-, is a sad game about how to accept the death of people you love... Very touching. I cried to this.

@MGJpredador In FFX, Tidus was not real. He is a dream from Zanarkand, and at the end Zanarkand disappear, so he disappear with it. The faith was make Tidus real only in the good ending of ffx-2. :)

It just doesn't make sense at all that stuff about the fayth reuniting the pyreflies,so they can be happy forever....supposing Tidus was probably Yuna's first love.
It would suck if she lived with him forever,like the good and perfect. She DO lost him,so she could grow up as a person,as a woman,meet other guys,live her life,etc. Why their destiny has to be ''pre-determined'' as most fairy tales stories? This is the real one

this ending is......sad/but beautiful... about closure..acceptance..and how love is shown here....is absolutely felt and shown by our tears...she was given one last time to..."feel" his embrace and profess her love to him...who wouldn't want to have one LAST moment with the true owner of their heart...? one thing people like tidus realize is that fighting to protect anything your family, your home, or even your friends is really fighting to protect those you love tidus gave his life to protect spira because yuna and the others he loved were all there.

It's like, you think it's him even though you know he isn't coming back but you wish he would. That whistle gives false hope for Yuna until she realizes Tidus was always there spiritually with her. Even though this is the "sad" ending, it's probably the most true and realistic ending, and that's what makes this game all the more powerful.
I like this ending over the fairy tale "perfect" ending when Tidus comes back. As cool as a character he was, he's not coming back. Its also why I still debate to this day that at the end of Titanic, the lady just went to sleep. She didn't die.
And having an ending where you could bring him back, what purpose would his selfsacrifice have had been for. I feel like that certain "perfect ending" is just making a mockery of it. Why does everthing have to end "happily" to be good?
Sure, FFX ended with Tidus dying but he also showed a lot of selfsacrifice for the one he loved. What really moved me about it was how Yuna could smile and be happy even though she knew what she had to do and how tidus could not let her die even though it would mean that he would have to disappear.
To me this is acctually the best ending. She accepts( maybe not 150% but that's just normal) his death. She sees that he will always be with her no matter where she goes or what she does. People can relate to that, especially those that have just lost someone dear to them and are having a hard time at accepting what just happened. It might help them. In a way I think that the "perfect" ending was kind of annoying.

Trust me, I completely understand. I just lost my grandfather last month and as much as I want him to come back, he won't. So I think the fact that Yuna is not only courageous enough to admit that Tidus won't return, she's also courageous enough to live on with his memory as painful as it may be. I know I'm rambling on, but I'm honestly dealing with the same thing she is at the moment, so I guess I relate to this ending a little more than the fairy tale one.

@FuckingPerfectx you obviously did not play FF X or you would know... :) FFX plays with your perception of reality and it has a few intersting plot twists and turns. He is "real" in a way and not "real" at the same time. I will not spoil the story as it is awesome when you slowly piece it together and it only has the full effect if you actually go on that journey yourself. All I can say is: play FF X. You will understand this ending a lot better after.
@FuckingPerfectx the fact that she does not say his name (nor anyone else for that matter) is based on the fact that in FFX you could actually choose the name of your main character. Not everyone used the name "Tidus" so calling him that when someone used a different name would be odd.

I always liked this ending most. It just felt so bittersweet. Tidus never really needed to come back. In this ending I get the feeling that Yuna grew up and matured as a person. I personally felt it had a greater impact with Tidus being there for Yuna in the metaphysical sense as opposed to the physical sense.
Endings of Final Fantasy games are always bittersweet. The "Perfect" ending was too much of a fairy tale ending for me to like it.

@skar860 3 endings, bad, good, and perfect. to get the bad ending you have to miss an ingame event sequence. as long as you do that ingame event you will always get the good ending, but to get the perfect ending, you have to get 100% completion, which is possible in one play through but might require a second or third.

In any other narrative worth a damn it would be an empowering moment, but here it's treated as "subpar". This sickens me.

@BAArmes12 tidus always has a different way of expressing his love. Yuna can easily say I love you but for him he says I love u by doing things for her not with words. I think he didnt say I love you to her because well damn lmao you have a point now..idk why. She said I love you and stuff but she was running with him in the other endings and all vibrant. the old yuna would have stood still kissed him or hugged or waited for the girls to come over. that's why tidus was like you changed when she was all happy and running. too different for him to think up the words
Y'know, this is like...the healthy ending. Where Yuna starts to move on in her grieving process and all that. I like this one ^^; It's kinda symbolic of what people go through in real life.

This is especially heart breaking if you subscribe to the counter belief about the pyreflies brought up in FFX . Some people didn't believe the image of loved ones manifested in the Farplane was brought on by the will of the dead, but by pyreflies reacting to an individual's memories. So it is particularly painful that when Yuna finally gets to 'see' Tidus again, her strongest final memory of him is that non-corporeal hug.

@MGJpredador In FFX, Tidus was not real. He is a dream from Zanarkand, and at the end Zanarkand disappear, so he disappear with it. The faith was make Tidus real only in the good ending of ffx-2. :)

This ending is in no way pessimistic. It's totally ''realistict''.
It just doesn't make sense at all that stuff about the fayth reuniting the pyreflies,so they can be happy forever....supposing Tidus was probably Yuna's first love.
It would suck if she lived with him forever,like the good and perfect. She DO lost him,so she could grow up as a person,as a woman,meet other guys,live her life,etc. Why their destiny has to be ''pre-determined'' as most fairy tales stories? This is the real one

I prefer this ending to the good/perfect ending, like the top comment says, it's bittersweet but it has so much more meaning than them running off into the sunset together.

this ending is......sad/but beautiful... about closure..acceptance..and how love is shown here....is absolutely felt and shown by our tears...she was given one last time to..."feel" his embrace and profess her love to him...who wouldn't want to have one LAST moment with the true owner of their heart...? I would...even go through heaven and hell for one last moment with my beloved....small price to pay for acceptance and closure..

It's like, you think it's him even though you know he isn't coming back but you wish he would. That whistle gives false hope for Yuna until she realizes Tidus was always there spiritually with her. Even though this is the "sad" ending, it's probably the most true and realistic ending, and that's what makes this game all the more powerful.

I like this ending over the fairy tale "perfect" ending when Tidus comes back. As cool as a character he was, he's not coming back. Its also why I still debate to this day that at the end of Titanic, the lady just went to sleep. She didn't die.

Sure, FFX ended with Tidus dying but he also showed a lot of selfsacrifice for the one he loved. What really moved me about it was how Yuna could smile and be happy even though she knew what she had to do and how tidus could not let her die even though it would mean that he would have to disappear.

To me this is acctually the best ending. She accepts( maybe not 150% but that's just normal) his death. She sees that he will always be with her no matter where she goes or what she does. People can relate to that, especially those that have just lost someone dear to them and are having a hard time at accepting what just happened. It might help them. In a way I think that the "perfect" ending was kind of annoying.

Trust me, I completely understand. I just lost my grandfather last month and as much as I want him to come back, he won't. So I think the fact that Yuna is not only courageous enough to admit that Tidus won't return, she's also courageous enough to live on with his memory as painful as it may be. I know I'm rambling on, but I'm honestly dealing with the same thing she is at the moment, so I guess I relate to this ending a little more than the fairy tale one.

@FuckingPerfectx you obviously did not play FF X or you would know... :) FFX plays with your perception of reality and it has a few intersting plot twists and turns. He is "real" in a way and not "real" at the same time. I will not spoil the story as it is awesome when you slowly piece it together and it only has the full effect if you actually go on that journey yourself. All I can say is: play FF X. You will understand this ending a lot better after.

@FuckingPerfectx the fact that she does not say his name (nor anyone else for that matter) is based on the fact that in FFX you could actually choose the name of your main character. Not everyone used the name "Tidus" so calling him that when someone used a different name would be odd.

I always liked this ending most. It just felt so bittersweet. Tidus never really needed to come back. In this ending I get the feeling that Yuna grew up and matured as a person. I personally felt it had a greater impact with Tidus being there for Yuna in the metaphysical sense as opposed to the physical sense.
Endings of Final Fantasy games are always bittersweet. The "Perfect" ending was too much of a fairy tale ending for me to like it.
This is the true ending for me.

@orangeapples i agree this ending is really bittersweet, but i like the secret ending were they are reunited as well, but not the perfect ending your right on that one its a little too happy and ridiculous and it totally was not worth the ammount of time spent to get 100% completion, as for yuna's development i think she develops the same regardless of what ending you get its just that this video really shows it a hell of alot more than the others, the other is the one on top of the airship.

@skar860 3 endings, bad, good, and perfect. to get the bad ending you have to miss an ingame event sequence. as long as you do that ingame event you will always get the good ending, but to get the perfect ending, you have to get 100% completion, which is possible in one play through but might require a second or third.

another thing is like the titanic movie, if the ending wasn't sad and left a lot of open ties but closed the story at the same time-it wouldn't be great. I like the happy ending but this one touched my heart -I think that was her memory of him hugging her from the airship from FFX, so really-She was talking to herself. at least she got closure and stopped another problem. I wish Rikku had her own story now, do any of you agree with me?

@BAArmes12 tidus always has a different way of expressing his love. Yuna can easily say I love you but for him he says I love u by doing things for her not with words. I think he didnt say I love you to her because well damn lmao you have a point now..idk why. I'm guessing the whole change took over -if yuna looked the same as she did before and acted the same and things weren't so different; if yuna had said more emotional stuff then he would have said I love you-yuna is just like tidus now

She said I love you and stuff but she was running with him in the other endings and all vibrant. the old yuna would have stood still kissed him or hugged or waited for the girls to come over. that's why tidus was like you changed when she was all happy and running. too different for him to think up the words

This is especially heart breaking if you subscribe to the counter belief about the pyreflies brought up in FFX . Some people didn't believe the image of loved ones manifested in the Farplane was brought on by the will of the dead, but by pyreflies reacting to an individual's memories. So it is particularly painful that when Yuna finally gets to 'see' Tidus again, her strongest final memory of him is that non-corporeal hug.
