  • More like the founding of a shithole.

  • More like the founding of a shithole.

  • More like the founding of a shithole.

  • @HDsharp Sure i really believe you ................... and SURPRISE i'm asian to bitch

  • THUMBS UP if your only watching this because of Jet Li, Jackie Chan, and all them other famous chinese actors and actresses. hahahah....if it weren't for the famous people i wouldn't care much about this movie.

  • this movie must be cool! who know whether english version is existing?

  • I agree, Communist are liars, they are always bias. Pure propaganda crap, totally inaccurate dewy BS ...do not support them, do not see this film.

  • @620lotus ur fkn brainwashed by anticommunism media. so ur saying that this war never happened and the communists never took control of china? stupid fkn retarded dickhead. and u, as an shitty americunt dont even have the right to call yourself a lotus. u should be called 620MIF, mentally-ill faggot. fuck u and die

  • 王师北伐共匪日, 家祭无忘告乃翁

  • i didnt reallie see vicki zhao wei in here but according to her wiki profile it says she is indeed in this movie..

  • Communist are liars, they are always bias. When you read the history of the communist, you will always find inhuman like acts toward their own people, they're not people, there not even animals, they are dirt to me. I feel sad that these actors had to do this, but when you dig deeper, the communist are part of one of the biggest killings in the history, killing millions of their own people in every communist country, Khmer, Vietnam, Russia, China, etc.

  • @baotran16 China never "killed millions of its own people". Speaking of bias, everything is biased. It's pretty much impossible to say something without asserting opinion. And no, the biggest killings in history were commited by fascists and tribes.

  • @PenileFracture They killed thousands not millions but people did die in the Cultural Revolution, Tiananmen Square Massacre, Tibetan Massacres, Uyghur fighting for independence and people are being imprison, torture and execute for defending their beliefs like the Mongol, Tibetan and Uyghur independence activists or Chinese people that want democracy. Those are facts.

  • @typhoonstorm95 what are you talking about?! i am from the former soviet union and i saw this "wish and fight for independence and democracy". all separatist must be executed without any doubts!

  • @typhoonstorm95 and forced abortions even today

  • @typhoonstorm95 what ever it takes to keep its house in order, martial law is practiced in other countries too not just in china. the same shit happens else where in the world...ie N.ireland, scotland, america, australia, the natives didnt have a say in those countries and they're not even the same race. China is not the only country that practices martial law, if you have a problem with that then you should have a problem with all countries that does too.

  • So everyone how is this movie? I do hate both the Commies and the Nationalists but does this movie provide any accuracies?

  • Is it wrong for me to feel this movie is gonna be inaccurate and biased?

  • @gbatemper123

or perhaps your biased and innacurate American perception is so.

    LIBERATION FROM CHANG KAI SHEK!

  • @gbatemper123 Its not wrong, for all historical movies are BS, even hollywoods.

  • OMG this movie was already out and i didnt know about it!

  • holy shit every chinese actor is in this.... OMG a MUST SEE

  • @Hmonks by the time the americans threw the bomb the war was already turning in favour of the chinese, it was sooner or later before the japanese were defeated by the chinese

  • no communism....freeedoooom ..we want hamburger...we want stupid hollywood heroes and whores..we want leaders like george war bush, obama, clinton..we want lady gaga, justin bieber..yeeeaaaah

  • @savassanatlari

You are dumb. Why don't you try living in a real Communist country and tell me how it feels.

  • @1tephania shut up and go and eat a hamburger

  • @savassanatlari

No, really. Have you ever lived in a Communist country before? There's a reason why all Communist societies collapsed except for the ones that liberalized.

  • @1tephania communism collapsed becos every fuker on the planet is a greedy bastard and is attracted to capitalism, if capitalism didnt exist and theres only communism, communism would work. China is not a communist country anymore.

  • @savassanatlari U fag, grow some backbone and stop being brain washed by the Illuminati. hollywood is anti chinese anyway.

  • @HDsharp I hate u the only reason why dickheads like you say that because you lost Hong Kong and the only reason the american and British attack us is because we stopped opium production

  • @killstreak88 I'm asian you stupid, you are a white washed chink.

  • how can you put a martial artist in a film and doesnt fight

  • @alexanderkenniethbam jet li, donnie yen, jackie chan . with these names we are interested in Chinese culture.. Kung fu is a part of Chinese culture....If Bruce Lee were alive would play in this movie..

  • Fact is if CHINA wasnt Communist. Today there be no china Civil war would of broke out decades ago, Japan might of conquered china, Democracy or what ever that there is left in china will provide citizens with no real shelter no real money, china would not be the 2nd largest economy, even if the citizens gets every right to human there ever is.. it'd be chaos with 1.3BIllion people.

You think the people here in USA talk to crazy and are too free? think about the population here X 3

  • propaganda crap is what i see in here

  • @CrazyHermit oh so when the USA makes filme about The glorious establishment of their country is not a propaganda? how bout films about the Civil war? how bout all these WWII films..

  • So much I'd like to watch this full-star cast movie, so much I know that they "flavoured" historical facts to favour the communit party. A pity.

  • I don't know, but I don't think I would want to watch a Jet Li movie without him fighting in it. Just doesn't seem right

  • 2:48 OH MY GOD ITS JACKIE CHAN :cP

  • @hotorod Dude that's Andy lau.

  • @hotorod I didn´t recognise him :o

  • 88pie88 because the communists represented the poor people and china wuz full of poor people @ the time but the nationalists didnt treat the poor well so thats the story lol my grandpa fought in 2 of the battles in the movie

  • Anyone that knows a little bit of the history of the world - knows that pretty much every country in the world has a shitty history. If it's not a civil war, it's a stupid king going to war and wasting peoples lifes or a maniac emporer doing the same thing. So instead of arguing over history, you should feel sorry for the countries that are still in war, today.

  • History is a mess. So is today still. Why can't we just enjoy the trailer? Wow, I thought Jackie Chan and Jet Li stop making HK movies...what happen? I guess they still need to bring more bacon home huh? tee-hee I am kinda excited to see this movie.

  • YAY! Chinese Communism! tens of millions of people killed and an entire nation deprived of freedom! I can't wait to see this movie!! NOT

  • @AK49Gunner the movie is about chinese civil war. Mao did liberated china and won the civil war, his intention for the country is good, however, the outcome is what you see today. a lot of people dislike US government today, but that doesn't mean Abraham Lincoln = George Bush

  • @lucasx25

Lincoln didn't kill tens of millions of people either...

  • @AK49Gunner

O.o you comparing warfare separated from hundreds of years of weapons technology and population ratio with each other? My god, you're a disgrace to our nation, please get the hell out of the US. And of all the Presidents we had, why the hell did you pick one from so far away (via time period) from this guy? Why not pick some one closer, like Harry S. Truman... oh was it because then you can't say "Harry S. Truman didn't kill tens of millions of people either..."? Q_Q

  • @b00m13

Listen fuckwit, I didn't pick Lincoln, lucasx25 did. Maybe you should go back and read the preceding comments before you open your trap and make a fool of yourself.

  • @AK49Gunner

*sigh* Poor guy~ Just like a "fool" to resort to curse words when you're backed into a wall and can't answer questions that show how much of a bigot you are~ PS lil hypocrite if you're "thinking" of we don't kill our own? Then you obviously need to finish elementary school and re-up on our country's civil wars.

  • @b00m13

You said that I'm "a disgrace to our nation" and now you act all shocked when I use mean words? Poor baby. lol

I don't know why you keep going on about the civil war when I didn't even bring it up, someone else did. So, again, when you keep mentioning it as if I brought it up said something incorrect, you make yourself look like a fool. Who's backed into a wall again?

  • @b00m13

And LOLZ @ the "You need to learn about tehj civil warz!111" comment. I'm a civil war buff and have my great-great-great-great-grandfathers rifle over my fireplace. haha

  • @AK49Gunner

*yawn* amazing how such a so called "great" man can contribute to the spawning of such an illiterate disgrace; but I suppose I'll agree with the foolish part, as I must be one to have continued to giving such a worthless disgrace even an once of attention. So... (worthless disgraces aren't worthy of a farewell~)

  • @b00m13

Call me whatever you like fuckwit, whatever helps you sleep at night. You come out of nowhere and insult me because you failed 3rd grade reading comprehension, and after I point out how fucking stupid you are, you don't even try to argue you just throw more insults and dig your hole even deeper. Your idiocy is clear to anyone who reads these comments.

  • @b00m13 Actually it was an act of civil war due to Slaver,y It was a good cause in the long run to free slave which civil right of course didn't effected tell the 1960s, but What the Union fought for was good in the long term, Now Mao for instances Killed his own people following a policy that killed million of Chinese backed Genocide supported North Korean and Invaded Tibet This was after the Civil war in China, Which Mao Was more concered about holding power then fighting off Japan.

  • @b00m13 Herry S Truman fought a World war 2 whom had no choice but to stop Japan aggression over Asian due to the fact that Japan wouldn't agree upon surrendering, which he had no choice but to use the H bomb, you Chinese should be very thankful for his act saving the most part of the war for your country, Idiot shouldn't compare a political policy standpoint with World War it doesn't make any logical sense at all.

  • @Hmonks O.o it did all that crap ya spouted for "my country"? How'd it do it for the USA? Oh nvm~ Prob just another one of "those" people~

I'm gonna go play some Tetris now cuz that's obviously more interesting then reading some copy & pasted paragraph from Wiki~ *sigh* sad how anyone can rewrite history on wiki and so many will just accept it for a fact... ah well *yawn*

sooo tired~ maybe should head to sleep, some of us do have jobs to go to~ can't just go trolling on Utube vids~

  • @b00m13 LOL, your argument even can't comprehend

to anything what I said, how can one changed

such a subject matter when they intented to start a argument here,

Then backed off like a pussy here, I suggested if you don't want to get insulted

then don't say anything it that simple, or else I guess you some metnal

disorder kid how can't comprehend with any argument at all.

  • @b00m13 and I guess a person like you are some know it all lol, here you deserved the noble peace prize, O yeah BTW Mao was a great hero to Your Chinese Cultural Hahaha, He did killed I mean save 30 million live lolz

  • look at China today their experience on communism helps them a lot to survive and stands until they reach their goal as a one of the high powered countries just like Russia except for North Korea which for me looks so weird and stupid because of their current freak leader Kim Jong Ill!

  • Soviet supported Mao Triumphs over American abandoned corrupt Chiang.

It is called a butcher replaced by another even greater butcher.

  • look very cool I want to see it

  • @kanun4214

For those of you who want to see this film, it's going to be playing at the Newport Beach Film Festival on April 28, 2010 2:00PM. You can buy tickets on their website.

  • if this is shit, then every american movie about the american revolution is complete propaganda bull shit. for example "the patriot".....

  • stupid ass propaganda movie. pure shit.

  • jackie chan = liu xiaoqi ?!

  • 2 people, one guy, one woman

  • this movie has alot of the famous chinese actors and actresses(donnie yen,jet li,jackie chan, zhao wei and so on...). though i am not a big fan of the chinese communist party, i still wanna see what this movie has.

  • @mryang91

the chinese communist party went capitalist after Xiaping.

  • hello? is there anybody who knows what the film's ending song's title (the one which a kind of girl sings the song) is? can u lemme know? thx.

  • This movie is boring. Jet li and jackie chan were in the movie for like 10 seconds each. waste of time.

  • This movie looks amazing! I can't wait to see it! :D

  • LOL jackie chan!

  • @vernjackie Did you watch the movie? How was it a bad movie? Is it because you don't like Chinese people?

  • they put so much propaganda into this

  • how did that nationalist loose if they were using newer better weapons, while the communist were using out dated weapons, or captured japanese weapons which were also very out dated

  • Because the communist wanted to win more than the Nationalist. They had the fighting spirit! A knife can win over a Pistol you know

  • a pen in Chairman Mao's hand can be more dangerous one one entire division

  • I watched the movie and I would say its pretty good. Yeah, its definitely got some propaganda - but it treats Chiang Kaishek and the KMT way more fairly than I ever would've expected.

Keep in mind though that a lot of is about counting the number of Chinese superstars you can see - Zhao Ziyang, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, etc.

Its a rental, but not a purchase.

  • Can anyone please tell me is this movie good before i'll buy it.

  • this took some time for me to realize, at 2:47 is that Jackie Chan?

  • Shit movie. just chinese propoganda all the way... shame they feel they need to pump this stuff out to brainwash their people.. strange country really.

  • and as if your country does not involve itself in brainwashing people, strange little place you come from as well.

  • yes i agree that all countries partake in this to a degree. But China is one of the few in its own league.

  • @vernjackie, should be "People's Republic of China" in your answer who brainwashes people. But even here in america, i get brainwashed like a mufucka. Tired of dumb-fucken cunts who just associates "China" as "P.R. of China".

You have overseas Chinese descendents who never grew up in the P.R C. You also have Taiwanese-Chinese. At least for these two groups, they are "non-red" Chinese.

  • Every country brainwashes it's people-- doesn't matter if it's democratic, communist or what have you.

  • well, i have seen the film, however, i don't write any comment about the film. instead, i want to know if there's any of you who knows the song at the last part of the film, the song which is performed by a little girl. the song is so nice, i want to find out about it. thx before.

  • I hope Jet Li is kicking some ass in this movie or else I dont wanna see it.

  • I don't want to be a spoiler, but pretty much all the celebrity cameo appearances have minor roles. Although Jet Li, playing as a war hero, only had a few seconds on screen, that scene was probably my favorite in the entire film.

  • Haha Yorkee111. We beat you in Cold War!

But dang this film is historical stuff

  • dudes, just dont pay attention to them, all of them are hired - check "50 cent army" in wikipedia. Others are just moranz.

Though I'm russian in this case I'm on americans side.

    And chinese, you ARE hypocrites.

  • If you checked on Wikipedia about the so called "50 cent army", they'll say most of them are volunteers (which are NOT being paid). And I'm one of them, hypocrites? Don't generalise then your hypocrite.

  • yorkee111

...then why were you in China then?

  • Who the fuck does fike think he is? Don't bomb innocent civillians in Iraq, buy shit you can't pay for, and then flush billions of dollars down the drain and then come around and criticize the country of my ancestors for being a "represive" communist regime. Sure china has it's problems and skeletons in it's closet but so does my homeland of my America. Let's not post comments that make us of the western world look like retarded hypocrites.

  • go to your closest library, you lazy hack. I'm pretty sure you can find the Vietnam War and the Kent State incident on the shelves.

  • xjlmt is right. I can't wait to see this movie when does it come out it looks fabulous.

  • the blue uniform is base on nationalist = republic

the other uniform is base on PLA = comme

  • Wow sick..... ther's Andy Lau, Jet Li, and Jacky Chan..... Can sumone plz tell me the name of the movie??

  • The Founding of a Republic

  • I'm from America and regardless one's thoughts on Mao Zedong as a ruler, this film looks incredible and really shows how far China has come since the People's Revolution. Definitely a proud moment in cinema for all the Chinese.

  • Why did Mao wanted to defeat Chiang?

  • Because he had his own agendas ya' dig?

  • looks like a good movie!

  • Sun nan sings the ending song of this movie, does anyone have the link or name of this song?

  • Anyone know where I can watch this with English subtitles? Ignore my previous comments, it looks very good :) I've looked on pirate bay and its not there :(

    plz help

  • As a Chinese, I am proud of China's economic might and growing global prominence. However, I hope more Chinese will come to know the truth about Mao and what he actually did. To those with access to free information, do your research.

You don't have to love Mao or the communist party to love China and be a patriot.

  • I agree with jchien....China needs more people like you.

  • Whats this film like, I wanna watch but not to sure, can anyone recommend?

  • haha you are so pathetic. you are the one in a chinese video. nothing you say is going to magically change that. you clearly are obsessed with us.

  • What I am obsessed with is truth, honesty, freedom, culture and history :D

  • China has the strongest military in Asia.

  • thank goodness mao zedong won the war and some day they will retake taiwan it belongs to chinese !!! always remember beijing 08

  • First of all, the people of Taiwan are Chinese. Secondly, mao's contributions to China were the cultural revolution n the great leap forward which resulted in massive famine and deaths of 20plus millions. KMT suffered the brunt of Japanese assaults and KMT did most of the fighting; CCP conserved its forces and back stabbed KMT. Mao told Japan's PM there is no need to apologize because Japan helped him win the civil war.

  • Yeah, I read in "The Rape of Nanking" by Iris Chang that the Chinese Government told the Japanese Government an apology was not necessary and they also refused reparations...but how many Chinese people know this?

jchien is honest and I respect that.

  • just enjoy the movie!!!

  • That has some awesome actors in it, can not wait to see it! Nor visit China once again for New Years next year, love the country, the people, the food. Happy Anniversary to China

  • ...fuck you you goddamn racist

  • ur knowledge of english is so negligible, poor. plz dont downgrade a language the same as u . and u eat with that mouth? what a shame, u dumb barbarian.

  • I think it's pretty dumb for Westerners to come on here and bash the Chinese, as if our system is so perfect. China has a history of more than 3,000 years, I doubt they care much what a bunch of war-mongering barbarians from the West have to say about their country.

  • Have you ever lived in China?

I suggest watching the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" video series here on youtube (in full) before you defend the Chinese government.

  • ya. i have seen the video, its all lies made by the CIA and falun gong.

  • Comment removed

  • Fike , you are full of monkey do do !!!

  • I'm not making excuses for the Chinese government, what I'm saying is that in the West we tend to criticize other people's governments when we're currently bombing, occupying and looting other nations. Who is China invading? The Chinese need to decide what works and what doesn't in their system. We support much more brutal regimes in Egypt, Colombia etc.

  • Coudn't have said it better myself.

  • i watched a documentary on the tianamen square incident, and it says that most chinese students arent taught about that incident.

i feel that everyone should be able to have some pride in their country. not everyone may like China, but let's respect their citizens' right to respect their country. i have my own opinions, but we should be able to respect each other too.

and wow, the actor that plays Mao looks like him! and, im not really a big andy lau fan but wow.

    THANKS :)

  • Yes, the PRC is a republic. A republic is a form of government where some of the people have a say in the running of the country, and the head of government is not a monarch. The PRC is an authoritarian state with power vested in the CCP, but there are limited local-level elections, and the Party chooses a leader who serves a term and is then replaced. It may not be a *democratic* republic in the modern sense of the word but it is a republic.

  • chinks

  • you can call us master.

  • fuck you Turkish prick

  • I wonder if the movie will at all touch on how the Communists stole from the peasantry during the Long March, let the Nationalists get slaughtered by the Japanese, infiltrated Chiang Kai-shek's military, forced the people of Changchun to starve to death, operated a reign of terror, and agreed to let Russia resume its "sphere of influence".

Chiang was a poor leader in failing to curb corruption and lead his army to victory, but the ROC loss was the Chinese people's loss.

  • No it look like it'll only show how good a dancer and singer mao was

  • hahaha nice one.

  • And the winner of the People's idol is of course the great leader!!

  • CHina is one of the greatest nations in the world. A country that has come through huge difficulteis, overcome some darkest period, and is now walking towards the brightest future.

    Best of luck!

  • really funny to see westerners talking about mass killing. we all know your ugly colonial history.

  • The different is we learn about what we did in school and our admited that what we did was wrong. Unlike you guys, who still thinks nothing important or big happen on 1989 in tiananmen square.

  • Those students asked for it. I'm sorry but it's true. China was headed towards democratic reform but the students just kept pushing for it too quickly. They wanted the government to change overnight. China would probably be a much more liberal nation today if it wasn't for them. And now thanks to those bastards it's taboo to even mention Democracy.

  • Those students asked for it? are you for real?

  • No, those students did not ask for a violent supression. They asked for democratic reform in peaceful ways. They might be pushing it too fast due to lack of experience and lack of long-term insight. After all, they did not deserve shooting to dead by their own army. It is simply a dishonor act and is hard to convince the rest of the world.

  • Right...the students were peacefully protesting and did not ask to be crushed by tanks.

  • again, you said you learned. yet have you atoned for your crime? did you guys return the land and wealth you robbed? did you take care of the descendants of the one you murdered? it's really hypocritical for you to say sorry. so, plz don't pretend to be a saint, for which u and ur kind apparently not.

  • plz stop showing how ignorant you are about Asia. whatever the relationship between mainland and Taiwan. the taiwan government still call themselves Republic of China. and do remember the example of Hong Kong. it's disappointing to you that we have a future you westerns don't.

  • what?

  • And all of my Taiwanese friends say that people living in Mainland China are brainwashed and stupid for thinking that Taiwan is a part of China.

    Their words, not mine.

  • Then tell your friends that they are racists for generalizing people who are from Mainland China.

  • Yes, the US Government continues to provide monetary compensation to those of Native American descent...I have a friend who is only 1/8 Cherokee and even he receives money from the Government.

Also, many high school teachers use Howard Zinn's "People's History of the USA" rather than Government issued textbooks which goes into a lot of detail about the European settlers and Native Americans.

  • you don't understand china at all. learn chinese history and come to china to have a look. don't mislead public! because you don't know the truth at all.

  • Comment removed

  • who cares you a bit.

  • you westerners dont know wtf your talking about. stop pretending like you know anything about tiananmen or tibet or taiwan or xinjiang.

just stfu and mind your own business.

  • One: China is not at all a "Republic"

Two: You guys need get out of China more

Three: You need google Tibet and Tiananmen square to get the true story. Oh wait you can't because your great government is trying to cover up everthing

  • 1. we are chinese, we dont give a fuk what you non chinese label china.

    2. we dont care what non chinese think about chinese issues. so no thx.

    3. keep thinking you know the "truth" we dont care. you arent chinese. so it means nothing.

  • 1. Since the world is more global you should and you still haven't respond to where I say China is not a Republic

2.Thats a very close minded way of thinking

    3. It does not matter that I'm not chinese. Us American weren't german but that doesn't mean we can't stop the Holocaust

  • 1. do not care

    2. do not care

    3. yes it does. it means your opinion means nothing. so im not even going to talk about it with you. ALSO, you cant do SHIT about it. which is just fun for me.

  • 1. U should

    2. again U should because we're a big deal

    3. That didn't make sense at all. But than again youre from the main land so I'm not surpise

  • 1. i dont care if you think we should

    2. dont care if you think we should.

    3. made perfect sense. you are not chinese so i dont care what you think happened in tibet or tiananmen or anything else.

you can keep whining about it...go protest all you want. NOTHING will change. not one thing. i get a huge kick out of protestors for tibet and stuff. yell so much, then they go home. weeks, months later, nothing changes. tell me thats not hilarious.

  • Like it or not the free market and democracy are like peas and carrots. You can't have one without the other. Who knows you might be. Enough see it in China someday

  • The western press is biased about Tibet. and I think basing your opinions on China on an incident which happened twenty years ago in a square is a tad simplistic.

  • How about the 大跃进 and the 无产阶级文化大革命??

At least in the West we have The Freedom of the Press and allow multiple viewpoints to be published and considered.

The Chinese media is owned and operated by the CCP....just like 1984 by George Orwell.

  • and you think the Western press is so unbiased as a result? The main media outlets are still biased and still fill people's heads with propaganda, just look at the US. Sure, there are little independent media outlets giving a different perspective, but hardly anyone listens to them, so the effect is irrelevant. The truth is that the average American is just as full of propaganda as the average Chinese, maybe more.

The great leap forward and the cultural revolution happened 50 and 40 years ago.

  • Happened 40-50 years ago?

So, the Nanjing Massacre happened many years ago also and Chinese people still talk about that all the time...because it serves their interests.

  • Their are understandably angry that the Japanese never properly apologized for that horrendous massacre, however they do not base their current policies towards Japan on that event at a practical level, and if they did that would be stupid.

Anyway it seems to me that you have some personal bias against the Chinese. Saying they are the angriest people you have met is bollocks.

  • And has the CCP ever apologized for the Great Leap Forward, Cultural Revolution, Boxer Rebellion, Tianaman Massacre?

Maybe the CCP should start apologizing before it demands other countries to do so.
