  • when david died he left me his acoustic guitar he wrote every song with

  • @ourlildragonman he didnt die from the infected tooth, he died because he went into a coma from medication he had for an absessed tooth, which caused him to die.

  • Also: I WANT THE TRON SHIRT!

  • Another highly under-rated band from the 90's.

  • When I was a kid, I saw this band at Saint Andrew's Shelter in my hometown of Detroit, MI and it was only my 2nd concert. I never forgot the performance (also the first time I smoked a Joint w/ my uncle), and I always wondered what happened to the band. I do miss the 90's! This song, with the rest of the one's that were on the free TAPE they gave out were definitely a soundtrack to my teenage years!!! LoL @ tapes, Thanx 2 the band. RIP DAVE & thanx to the guy that smoke with us that night!!!

  • one of the best songs I've ever heard.....

  • The singer`s dead ? Sucks. I had a few of their CDs in the 90s. I could never understand why they weren`t bigger - everybody that heard my discs were blown away !

  • to those who mentioned the layne staley comparisons: dave was a good friend of mine. one day during a final 2 week visit with him in Manayunk, as we walked through downtown philly, trying to decide which cheesesteak place to eat at, he mentioned how much he loved layne's music and how his life mirrored staley's. he said he felt he would even die like layne, who had died the previous year. indeed, he and layne both died at age 34 after years of heroin abuse. HOWEVER, dave WAS clean when he died.

  • @qwikfikz his death has been listed as complications due to an infected tooth...how does that happen?...that's so sad. :(

  • @ourlildragonman it's like stepping on a nail which results in an infection due to the lack of treatment

  • @LiceeanulZburator so sad. :(

  • @ourlildragonman indeed

  • @qwikfikz Wow man. Sorry to hear that. Layne's death freaked out a former musician in one of our previous bands. He got married had a kid, quit the project, & went a different direction after Layne passed. This was a cool band with some cool music. They touched a lot of music fans. Sorry for your loss.

  • yep i see Alice in Chains voice a lot like layne...

  • Absolutely fucking brilliant! This track never sounds stale. RIP D.R.

  • agree with you guys! remembers me N1rv4n4 (1994) movie

  • His voice reminds me of layne.

  • hello mr good looking, man the way they appeared..he looked so much like layne

  • Man this kills me, this is a CD I"ve listen to forever never knew who or what they were all about just enjoyed the music...hell I didn't even know what they looked like until I decided to look them up on youtube...man good stuff

  • @Skankindragon Um, what do you mean "Honesty is the best policy" the type of music they made was called INDUSTRIAL and it was made with synthesizers and keyboards. They played with real instruments live. Besides I'm sure this is more exciting then to watch them program keyboards, and synthesizers. NIN does the same thing. And they are both honest.

  • @SymbioteSucker I always thought of it more as synthpop than industrial. Like Assemblage 23 or VNV Nation.

  • comix zone bonus cd brought me here

  • Their drummer Adam Kary is a good friend of mine (:

  • @damnitabelicoln nice one man. Or as David Reilly (singer of GLU) Nice one me-hn RIP David.

  • I flew from St. Louis to Boston to see David's acoustic show at TT the Bear's in 2001 I think. He wore his pajamas and played the Depeche Mode song "Stripped"... he also had to stop one song and restart it because he got choked up in tears. After the show I talked to him for about 30 minutes and he was so down to earth, we traded AIM info and talked about why GLU broke up. I had so much respect for him and can say he will always be on the list of the most influential people in my life. RIP

  • @goldteefforerbody Do you have an argument to back that up or is that all you have to say? If you don't like a band then that's totally cool - just do what I do and DON'T GO TO THEIR YOUTUBE VIDEOS. It's much easier than you might think.

  • my experience in NOLA -1996-1999....

  • Wow, this whole video is actually a rip-off of the Alice In Chains "Down In A Hole" video. Sad, but true...

  • @muthahoho ...a rip-off of or homage to, that's up for interpretation, don't you think? I believe they were fond of Alice as an inspiration, why not let that show in the music vid?

  • Dear @Skrillex... REMIX THIS AWESOME SONG!

    ~~RemnanteK

  • Got this album for about a buck fifty and I love the whole damn thing.

    Thanks, FYE.

  • someone needs to post the song "cant come down"

  • @duranamus and the song 29

  • @duranamus i don't think there's a video for it, i could post the audio if you still haven't found on

    =e tho

  • We've given it all away for safety...like a bunch of pansies. There are more laws than there are people in this country. Freedom is a meaningless word. Damn kids are growing up thinking this shit is normal. I sound like a grumpy old man I bet... but it's the TRUTH.

  • America used to be in a constant state of rebellion and freedom... now it's in a constant state of bullshit fearmongering. What the hell happened? Oh yea...Columbine and 9/11. Fucking assholes. One turd in the punch bowl ruins the punch. Bunch of damn pansies this country has become.

  • Iconic production. The definition of a genre. I miss growing up in the 90's. Man you could do whatever you wanted back then. Kids these days are wimps with their whiney little iPhones LOL ... buncha freakin' Marie Antoinettes..... In the '90s we wore the cheapest clothes we could find, always traveled on some kind of wheeled self propelled device, and we KICKED SOCIETY'S GREEDY ASS. Columbine shooters ruined it all... I feel sorry for teens nowadays.

  • Does anybody Rember this song and some Skinny Puppy Songs that were featured in a Playstation Video Game?

This song Brings back GOod Times back in 95

  • trying to find a copy....

  • great band. miss 'em.

  • so ahead of their time. when I look back, some of their stuff seems corny, even still, I spent so much time listening to Empty as a kid, I was always trying to get other kids into it and nobody was feeling it like I was, so I always felt like it was my own band, now in the you tube age, or the so called space age, I see there are other people who might have shared that experience. pretty cool really...

  • Saw these guys at a live outdoor concert back in 1998 or '99... they ROCKED!

  • where is the original vid for No More Love with the footage from the Johnny Mneumonic movie projected on the band?

  • One of the best live bands ever!

  • I really miss this band. Got the EP and Empty on cassette. I was the only one in my school that knew this band (sadly).

LITSCSA is easily their best album, though all of them are good.

  • This group was very underrated!

  • Fucking A mate!!

  • Could there be more than one video for this song? I'm old enough (38) to remember when this song came out. And this is not the video I remember seeing on MTV. I have a really clear memory of the video being very dark, and everything looking blue, and water running down glass and shit, like the director was playing on their name. Does anyone else remember this? Maybe I'm nuts.

Well, actually I am nuts, but I'm not sure that's relevant.

  • @revelwoodie, you're not nuts...at least about there being another vid. I shot it, and it was dark with projected images of the movie "Johnny Mneumonic" on the band and on the set, which was a long narrow room.

  • @russcam You shot it? Could you upload it if you have it? I'm just curious about it.

  • I still think this song sounds like an upbeat, industrial version of Alice in Chains.. (Which is awesome, by the way.)

  • I take it back there was evidence of electronic instrument use in here! boom there it is! 1:35 (few seconds in) and yes I knew they're electronic but the main shred on this thread is some guy wanting live playing of the sequenced parts.

  • he reminds me a LOT of layne staley

  • Super cool song - from a really cool group.

  • effing love this song, and band.

  • which band member died and why

  • @kamakazekarl666 The lead singer died after an oral surgery. It was a reaction to the medicine he was given.

  • which band member died and why

  • this is the band that stabbing westward always wanted to be

  • discovered these guys in an old cd I had gotten in the sega game comix zone.

  • @Katimashi omg me too haha

  • Two words Johnny Mnemonic, god I miss the 90's

  • I agree the 90's were the shit. A lot of shit bands that were around for a minute but then you had a lot more killer bands that are still around and big time, Stone Temple Pilots, Korn, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and I don't refer to those bands as "grunge" either. It's all just good ol rock music to me.

  • they put this music into playstation 1s slamscape

  • I'd totally forgotten about David having a nose ring in this video. Heh. I still listen to this stuff all the time.

  • great:x

  • adam kary is my friend!!!

  • @nagstrom For real? Tell me about it. I am their biggest fan and I would love to hear some stories about him and David. Love, Flowr

  • Remember guys how we went to blockbuster music.

They changed it to warehouse music, because of billboards records

I was mad because of that. If anybody knows how I feel about that.

Let me know. Went to warehouse music- you can not open the cd wrap anymore. you can not listen to your music. This made me mad.

I am not a mad guy, just for the truth.

  • This song always reminded me of Alice in Chains, with a cyber element (I had been reading a lot of William Gibson at that time). I still love the movie associated with this song, even if the critics slammed it.

  • @FlagshipUnion what movie?

  • @FlagshipUnion agreeee totally

  • This has got to be one of the best songs of all times. No other bands withstanding, Glu rocked and Reilly was a musical genius, IMHO! They don't make bands like GLU anymore, dude, They had IT! Twenty yrs later, I'm still their #1 fan. What a shame when I think of what they may have went on to do. OUR LOSS! RIP, Dave- We love ya! And we're STILL listenin'!

  • This is my first time listening to this band and I've got to say I am surprised they are as old as they are. They sound like they are recent. Anyways amazing band, great discovery!

  • amazing band amazing album

  • I can't stop listening to this song, like everyday, almost and I just think they were one of the pioneer bands of their time and genre. Rock on, Dave! You damn sure did while you were here! Epic-All generations will rock this, for sure! I would love to see what he might have done, given the chance. RIP,dude.!

  • Dam dude your right where the hell is the keyboards?

  • Remember bumping this out of a lowered '90 Silverado with 12's. These guys were so ahead of their time. RIP

  • I remember seeing this bad live back in 1996 and I really was blown away. This song is still in my top 50 of all time for sure.

  • i just watched johnny mnemonic and noticed the irony in using this song over the credits.

in the last shot of the movie they dump the dead jesus preacher killer into the river...cue god lives underwater. lol

  • 3-20 secs into the song this song was made immortal, one of the sweetest exits ever

  • I love this song so much and I wish David Reilly could have went on to make more awesome tunes for us to jam to. RIP Dude! What a shame! You were beautiful, seriously!

  • i miss you. :(

  • I miss this band...I saw them play live twice....last time was with Stabbing Westward and they fucking owned!

  • These guys are the beeeeeest!

  • Man, Dave was the shit! Awesome, just so awesome! Thanks for this!

  • Best Post EVER!!!

  • I received the American Recordings 1995 CD sampler when I got "Comix Zone" for the Sega Genesis for Christmas. And this song was included with it. I would listen to it over and over again. You don't hear music like this anymore (at least to me anyways). I'm glad that there are people who still listen to this song and still enjoy it. :D

  • They were ahead of their time....innovative, unique, genius........

  • man i loved this song when i heard it on the jonny mnemonic soundtrack back in the mid 90s...always thought this band deserved way more success than they got...anyone know where i can download this song?

  • who is david reilly?

  • SlamScape !! \o/

  • I recorded a cover of this song a few years back, and song kid put it on his myspace, with other glu songs, claiming it was an rare original draft, written by glu. Kinda flattering, but just wrong.

  • One of the few 90s bands I liked.

  • Ah, forgot all about this song. Love it.

  • most (all) of this is studio recorded, about the flanger remark, yeah I'm sure he has mass effects on the guitar, about the ending I would say waw-pedal, it's more than just waw, try it, I still love this band

  • the effect the guitarist is using is called a flanger, i have the same type of pedal.

i think they have a keyboardist also though,

  • Man this brings back memories.

  • They only used synths and keyboards for a small part their live shows. Almost everything was run through sequencers, so why show a rack of electronic devices in the video? Your comment is meritless.

  • @fiveliter302 They were awesome fiveL.302. Ignore these musical know nothings and let popular opposition know you are obviously doing something right . If a predominantly evil world is against you , take it as a compliment and know you areand don't waste time thowing pearls before swine. They willnever understand! Love and Peace -Your Friend, Flowr

  • @fiveliter302 pardon opticalfascism, he forgot about samplers and sequencers. He's might be hinting at how performance videos of bands playing live but with all of their studio chops hidden can be a tad un-fun if that's what you're into.

because this electronic vein helped differentiate them, they should give some type of reference. I wouldn't mind seeing a rack of their equipment, since other bands would've not known wtf it was back then anyways-> being the main point.

  • that's a special guitar effect, it's not a keyboard of synthesizer.

  • @OpticalFascism seriously?? i guess youll get over it

  • @OpticalFascism

I think those synth noises are actually guitars.

  • @vaguelyhumanoid Iseen em live about 18 yrs ago, and they played instruments, but they did have a dude working a synthesizer

  • @mikestephen48 Jeff Turzo did play some keyboards on stage, depending on the song, but a lot of it was run through a rack system.

  • @OpticalFascism HA very interest ing comentary.. too bad ya got booted

  • @OpticalFascism Agree, Fuck the electronics you rely on to create the music? Honesty is the best policy. or we start gettin milli-vanilli problems.

  • @OpticalFascism eat butt sir

  • Sickk video

  • This song was on a cd that came with the game comix zone man this brings back memories

  • This voice killin me ...excellent !!!

  • im working at a music shop now and my boss is the drummer of this band lol

  • This band was excellent but was ahead of it's time.

  • Good

  • David Lives Underground...

  • I can't believe I just now found out that David died. Discovering GLU in the mid-90s completely changed my musical tastes, my friends and I were obsessed with them, saw them live several times. I still have yet to hear such an interesting unique industrial rock sound from any other band since.

Does anyone know where I can find info on how they got their sound? Especially that electro-guitar sound on the first EP and 'Empty'.

RIP David, thank you for changing my life with your amazing art.

  • love the synths on the album, a 90s favorite.

  • It is so sad they disbanded due to the death.

  • They had actually disbanded long before David Reilly died.

  • @fiveliter302 Another very true statement . Tell this moron to look it up in wikipedia if he can read!

  • sounds like Soup Dragons.

  • The frontman reminds me a lot of Layne Staley from Alice in Chains

  • Yeah and like Layne he's no longer with us sadly.. RIP David my friend...

  • Yeah Alice in Chains Light!!!!!!!!!!!

  • anyone know where i can download this for fre at?

  • Comment removed

  • Bad idea! Buy the hi-fi CD, crank the volume and discover your new favorite album of the month!

  • Oh god, such a good band... such a good song. :] :] :] "Empty" Needs to be on Youtube A.S.A.P.

  • These videos were fantastic... the 90s had the coolest looking videos.. Todays videos are the worst ever in the history of music videos.

  • @ColorsBright If there aren't a bunch of naked chics in 'em, they won't even sell, these days. Sign of the times. Music is corporate, now. It's not music, anymore. I'm not a prude by the most judgemental standards but I am so sick of the messages this so called music industries brainwashes our kids with. It should be illegal. You can't even watch network t.v.anymore w/o seeing kids killing their own fathers. Wake up, people. Before it's too late!

  • fuck! this song just remminds of how old i'm becoming. but really it's all good and this song still rocks for me

  • @dilandinho76 Come on, you can't be THAT old, now. It's all a state of mind, dude. Embrace this part of you life. Every day is a gift! You should live every day as if it is your last. One day, unfortunately, it WILL be. Take what God gives you, Be thankful for it and spread love and unforgettable memories while you still have a chance. Peace, love and God's abundant blessings, I pray for you!! Love, Flowr

  • @dilandinho76 Absolutely, it's timeless!

  • such a great band,,, why can't this decade put out anything worth while?

  • Answer====No More Love====God Lives Underwater(Paris Hilton!!!Cthulhu Shub Niggurath! Ia Barra!! Ia Barra! Run For Your Lives! We're Doomb!-Rhian ramos Motto Derivative)==tbc==....

  • I sooooooo miss the 90's

  • nice song!

  • My favorite song, from my all time favorite band.

  • this is a pure

    i feel alive

  • makes me yearn for the 90's

  • me too

  • me three

  • innovators... all of them... great stuff.

  • I freakin' love this song.

  • i went to school with Brian Turzo's brother, Steve

  • Fantastic!

  • Anyone remember Slamscape? This song brings a lot of memories back from my childhood...

  • the bass in the last minute owns

  • Cool band, great song. Sad to read that David is dead. I didn't know that, r.i.p.

  • David reminds me Layne Staley in this vid, both great guys gone too soon

  • I agree on both counts.

  • Great band live - RIP david.

  • He sounds like Layne

  • Holy shit i haven't heard this song in years. F'in memories. Great band live.

  • Probably one of my favorite songs from them

  • I agree, there were a lot of really good bands in the 90's that don't or didn't get the credit they deserve!

  • oh man this video brings back memories. First time I saw this was at like 2am on RageTV, channel 38! I was very pumped when this came out. What a great band, I'm so glad I had the chance to see them a few times back then. RIP David

  • I remember this, I had the sdtk to "Johnny Mnemoic," this was in 1995 and this song was on it. I was 12. The film sucked, but good soundtrack and band!

  • WHAT? David died!!!?? I love this band for it's riffs. its so fun to play

  • I just checked and I did remember correctly that this came out in 1995. I remember that this was pretty popular shortly before the beginning of my senior year of high school. I thought it was pretty cool and it brings back memories!

  • i saw GLU in this little shit place that year playing this killer stuff. they actually gave me their RECORD for free that they were selling; not the CD, but the VINYL! shit; i hope i still have it... they were great and never got the attention i believe this band deserved. RIP David, and RIP GLU!!!!

  • great album
