Both 190D and 190D 2.5 belong to the best- built diesels worldwide. De 2.5 has more power (90HP i/o 72HP) and the lovely 5- cilinder sound. Both engine types can last 1,000,000 km's if maintened well. In Holland, a 1989 2.5D (purchased by the current owner in 1992) made its 'first million' with the original engine and gear box!
can sombody tell me why the benzin engines in mercedes-benz 190E aren't better than the diesel ones (I'm talking about the usual 190E like 1.8, 2.0 not the 2.5-16) and thanks in advance (coz i wan to buy one, and I don't know if it's the benzin or the diesel one, help meeee)
THX a lot buddy!!! that what I wanted to know! in fact my father owns one M-B 190D 2.0 (I'm still 16 ^^) and I wondered which is better the 190E 1.8 or 190D 2.0. It's bit slow (0-100Km/h in "(((18.1s)))") but it's reliable as you said. thanks again.

If you want power buy a benzin 1.8 or 2.0 .
These versions have more equipment , like A/C, ABS, electric windows , electric mirrors .
But they consume much .
If you are interested by the consume and low maintenance prices buy a diesel .
Mercedes is known for reliable diesel engines.
So i think the better variant it's the 2.0 Diesel .

Friend has the 190D its a great car, even for today. Too bad it is so slow. I love diesels though I have a Jetta TDI.

The 2.0 Diesel engine is the best in the world.
And the most reliable engine .
Like somebody says : Mercedes-Benz: Engineered Like No Other Car in the World. And it shows.
